Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)
lemans71 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Maybe if you offer her 7-8 mil she might....and no offense to you but I doubt Emma has ever considered you to be her dream lay....just sayin. -
Oh this made me chuckle a bit

Just saw a U haul outside of assembly hall being packed up with cases and cases of Diet Coke and boxes full of flash cards with pictures of bunnies on them.....

It's pretty bad when we have to look forward to the right mix of players over the course of maybe a couple decades to get a final four run.....damn that's depressing! Sad thing is I feel we have had that right mix a couple times and it hasn't happened, and I'm not going to be content with just waiting and hoping that just a mix of talent alone will get them there! It takes great coaching and discipline to go along with that mix of talent.

Potential fallout from coaching change
lemans71 replied to HoosiersLoveBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
When the change happens, we need a coach who can "coach". I think we all know what we have right now and that is a recruiting coach. I might end up in a looney bin if we try that 7 year experiment again. -

Agreed that Troy has a long way to go, but there is no doubt that he will be a next level player with some help in the jump shot and decision making departments....as far as Yogi....stud! -

ogi and Troy the way he did. If is wasn't for the both of them, some of the games wouldn't have even been games this year. Yes they make mistakes, especially when they are our backbone but for him to pick them out of the bunch was irritating....very irritating to me since the decision making by our players that he was talking about was going on all game, so where were the in game coaching adjustments coach. I guess that once again proves our point of crean not taking blame. -

Is Coach Crean feeling the heat?
lemans71 replied to Plasticjimmyhat's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't see how anyone can claim crean is a good offensive coach after watching them this year. Way too many turnovers that didn't improve throughout the season, too many possessions with forced shots with the shot clock winding down or an actual violation, noah wasn't utilized as much as he should have been, and a lot of time yogi looked more like an air traffic director if he would of have two orange lights in his hands. A point guard shouldn't have to spend half the shot clock pointing and telling his teammates where to be. It should be as simple as a yelled out play call by the point guard and get in position and run the dang play. All these points go back to coaching IMO. And before people reply we were young, that excuse is worn out because it seemed as if our young players started to improve as individuals, we never improved much as a team if any. My wife told me she thought Will Sheehey looks like Adam Levine and I argued he is a buff pee wee Herman. So the result was pee wee Levine from then on. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
The hype of Hanner had much less to do with Crean and much more to do with fans salivating over highlight videos. The revisionist history that Crean hyped Hanner is comical. It was all fans on message boards like this one! Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners
I agree fans had some to do with it, but so did the "experts" with the RSCI that rated him as top 50! Another great quote from Dan Dakich to set the records straight... "having hanner listed as a top 50 recruit is an insult to the other 49 guys on that list." Dan always says what he's thinking that's for sure. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
Uh, to be fair Hanner had no business playing at all last year.
Well why not, Crean kept telling everyone he was the most athletic guy on the team right??? and everybody was made to believe that he was gonna be a stud...he's obviously improved some(keyword some) this year, so why not with Noah?
I would have liked CTC to experiment with Fischer at the five (before he left) and Vonleh at the four to see if that combination would have been successful.
Crean has never tried to play two true bigs together. He didn't play Cody and Hanner together last year ever and he didn't play Noah and Hanner together this year. I'm not saying it would or wouldn't have worked, but at some point why not try? I don't want to start another criticize CTC outrage from all the starry-eyed supporters, but I think this is another reason for some CTC criticism... And no guys, Jeffey Howard doesn't count but he has my respect for always playing hard. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
This is how fanatical this fan base is, there's actually a debate going on about who should be allowed to talk on Senior Night. In the overall scheme of things it means absolutely nothing. It's just a nice thing to do for the kids who've put in a ton of hard work to give them a bit of recognition and love from the fans and to say thanks to everyone who helped them along the way. I thought it was great the student managers got to speak this year, they put in a ton of time too and get very little recognition or appreciation for it.
Just because you say the topic means absolutely nothing, its still an interesting topic to discuss for some. I thought BtownBanners is about discussions, opinions, debates, etc. for IU followers. Everyone's opinion is different and that's why it is interesting. I'd rather read posts with a crazy topic than read your posts bashing topics and people's opinions. And remember, when posters criticize crean and IU and you don't like it so then you turn around and criticize those people for their opinions, that makes you a hypocrite. Could this season be a good thing?
lemans71 replied to coonhounds's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It's like a coach saying after a losing a game that "it was a good loss". There is no such thing as a good loss just as there is no such thing as a "good-bad season". It's true coaches and teams should learn from your losses and I think CTC and the young but talented group we had should have learned a lot from losing games but after we hit the dozen mark in the "L" column I kind of gave up on that theory working for CTC.
