  1. Where is the infamous Chris007 when we need him...attention, we need your attention. UK shifting their focus in the last week to someone new and KB watching IU take MSU down twice in 2 weeks...c'mon now.
  2. Exactly my point...when would he even be available to take an official? Doesn't seem like it's in the cards to me as Saturday would be a major stretch.
  3. I'd like to be glass half full on this, and I hope it's all true. I don't feel like we've been burnt too much by bad info, and this is pretty specific. Let's keep our glasses half full! Also...when exactly is this "official" supposed to start? Would have to be Saturday, right? If not, I guess that answers that!
  4. Final play from my seats last night. Pretty incredible and good to feel Assembly rocking again. IMG_5605.mov

    Fishing chat and pics..

Crazy question here, but I've be an avid fisherman my whole life and about 8 years ago, I developed an allergy to fish. Can't touch them or my fingers peel a few days later. Can't eat them. I've researched it and it seems some others deal with the same thing. I don't know if it's attributable to continued frequent exposure or just an allergy that presented itself later in life. Either way, it sucks as fishing was something I really enjoyed and was quite good at and now I'm all but prohibited from doing it. Would love to know if anyone else has seen or heard of this.

Inclined to Give Archie a Break

Don't know who you are 3588, but I agree with every point you made in your summary. I do feel it's worth mentioning that we have enough talent to do "more" than we are, but we aren't. We have extremely long periods where we can't score at all. And our defense first mindset has disappeared. In addition, I feel like our players are regressing, which is very, very bad. Last year felt the same way. Near mid-January, the team just stopped caring. Remember watching Robert Johnson and it looked like he'd rather be home on his couch instead of playing? We have that going on again. I don't get it.

    So some concerns I’m having...

I haven't commented on this topic in a while as I still think it's too early to place judgment on CAM. However, this 4 game run is showing some ugly trends. Our offense is stagnant at best, which is concerning when looking at Romeo and Juwan being conference stand-outs. However, look at how often those two get into foul trouble early in the game. We also have at least 4-5 players on this team who would not be recruited to Bloomington today and several who just aren't as talented as we were hoping they would be. We have two "shooters" who don't play or can't shoot. We have 2 injured guys who would be playing; possibly starting. We're thin and it's causing problem. It's showing up in box scores when our bench scores literally zero points. Zero. And it shows on defense when our very limited talent pool is on the bench with fouls. I don't believe in bashing players as they're kids, but we also have several players who are simply an awful fit for Archie's system. Kids who shoot recklessly early in the shot clock and basically turn the ball over which doesn't hit the box score....but it killllllls this offense even more than not moving the ball. I continue to wonder if we had a couple of shooters (someone who could played like Hulls, for example) to space the offense what we could be. Purdue just trapped JMo and we had no where to go when Romeo was on the bench. It was played quite effectively by them IMO even though Fat Painter is a joke of a coach. I love it that he's their mediocre solution to basketball. I hope we can find a bright spot as the season continues, and I'd like to see more out of our offense, but I'm far from throwing in the towel on CAM. He's smart; he'll figure it out. PS - our guys also need to give a crap, which it doesn't appear they do today.
  8. Their families grew up together. Miller’s and Calipari’s that is. This isn’t an alignment of Archie’s moral or ethics compass. FCTC on the other hand aspired to be calipari and associated himself in the same class from a pride/ego perspective. I don’t like Cal at all but he can recruit and can coach...albeit not in a clean way. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    So some concerns I’m having...

For those of you doubting where things are going, listen to the CAM radio hour with Don Fisher from Monday. If you don't like what he's doing and how he's doing it after listening to that, you might want to find another team to follow! Kidding, but it's quite revealing. He knows what's going on; even jokes about how his dad texts him regarding our horrific free throw shooting. He's calculated and is very clearly letting our guys work through mistakes so we'll be strong in Jan/Feb/Mar. And listening to Davis talk about CAM...these guys are all-in. Try to have patience and a little faith. It's better than the opposite, and we all know what it feels like to suck in February; RIPCTC.
  10. Pure speculation, but I believe Green would play much better under a free-flowing, run & gun offense. And he knows that. Also, Moore/Forrester have to be questioning why they're not touching the floor. I don't want to see anyone go as it's a good group of guys, but there's logic with those guys IMO. Who knows though...Smith wouldn't surprise me as his playing time is going to be diminishing if he doesn't change his ways.
  11. No one likes transfers, but it's part of College bball today. We have a couple of kids/guys who are holding scholarships but are highly unlikely to see floor time, even as upperclassmen. We also have a guy who wants to be a star but doesn't play Archie's game/system. So yes, a transfer is completely within reason. I don't see this as a Crean/force out situation. It will be natural, and I'm sure all parties are well aware ahead of time. Archie is way too straightforward to just screw a guy out of a position by recruiting over him.
  12. I don’t get the feeling Archie’s done even if/when KB commits. We still have additional very talented targets. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    So some concerns I’m having...

This thread is toxic. Debating whether CAM is the right guy after a loss to one of the best college basketball teams to ever step on a court, on the toughest home court in the country, when we're highly injured and have a couple of CTC's leftovers giving little effort. Make it stop.

    So some concerns I’m having...

What's the story with Green showing disrespect to Archie last night? I was watching when he made a knucklehead play and Archie was not pleased, but on another thread, it sounded like DG had a televised disrespectful action. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I'd like to focus my disappointment on things like that, the DD technical and other things IU players should not be known for...

    So some concerns I’m having...

We all thought the same thing on Smith and playing time, but I don't think we had an option at that point due to fouls on Morgan/DD. I'd like to know why Forrester gets no playing time at all when Smith is turning it over on offense and getting scorched on defense. If Morgan has hit his ceiling, I'm good with it because he's great. Just stay out of foul trouble. Romeo had no choice but to try to take the game into his own hands. Phinessee did all he could considering the situation. This team will come around and we're never going to be as good as Duke is right now. They're loaded with NBA starters; it is what it is. All this talk (not all in this thread, but go read the game thread) about how Miller isn't the right person, destroying the players, etc. is a brash and often knee-jerk reaction. I wonder if Duke wanted to get rid of Coach K after losing to Gonzaga?? They should have because Duke was supposed to go undefeated, right? We need to have a little faith, and if we can't, stop watching and stop complaining. Archie will figure out what he can with the talent he has access to.

    IUBB @ Duke- 11/27 @ 9:30

I'm perplexed at Justin Smith and how he's gone from a major plus to someone who seems to have lost their entire basketball IQ. This Duke team, coming off a lost playing an injured IU team...they were going to win. But sloppy and low IQ play has been our noose.

    IU vs UC Davis

I had a chance to watch/rewatch the game this morning with a friend who has BTN plus. I also spent time on the boards before the game, and most comments were doom and gloom. I'm not always glass half full, but it wasn't as bad as some are portraying from what I saw. UC Davis was very, very hot on a couple of those runs. Several of their many threes they hit were contested by Morgan and/or had a player in the face. Play this game 5 more times and IU wins by 30+ each time. That said, while watching we were calling out bad/sloppy plays, who was out of position, etc. It's quite clear how badly the injuries are hurting us. Many turnovers were from missed/bobbled catches that weren't bad passes. Many UC Davis points were from two of our subs being WAY out of position or getting burnt on defense. Very, very rarely would RL, JM or RP be at fault. A few times there were questionable plays from them, sure, but not often. Bobbled catches and general lack of court awareness are also things Archie has no control over while so many are hurt. If players are too slow or don't have the awareness to play good defense, they'll be on the bench when the injured players come back. And when that happens, this team is very different. It also spreads our offense out. Also, Green is back. Refill your glasses.

IUBB vs UT Arlington - Tues., 11/20 @ 7:00 ET

I'm in full agreement, and he's the farthest thing from unlikable. His demeanor on the court has been the same at every level; high school, AAU and college. He just plays hard, keeps his emotions in check, and he's just as interested in assists/rebounds as he is scoring. Whoever is suggesting he doesn't get along with his teammates needs to find something better to do...shameful. Because a kid is not covered in tattoos, doesn't run his mouth and doesn't flex in the face of another player after a bucket, he's not well received by his teammates. Whoever is starting these rumors is drinking dumpster kool-aid. Romeo's is too nice; he scores too much;...I don't like him. Unbelievable.

IUBB vs. Marquette 11/14 at 8:30 ET

KenPom is my go-to as far as who is actually "good" versus what the AP polls say. We took a huge leap in the Pomeroy standings last night; good catch, VO5. KenPom's algorithms don't normally allow for swings like that. It's typically a 2-3 place/rank change, max, at any given time. Example - when UK got smoked by Duke, they dropped one spot and Duke moved up one spot. I believe we jumped 8 or-so spots last night. Quite a testament.
  21. I don't think TJD was behind the bench. I was at the game in the front row of the 2nd level right above MSU...had a good view, and he and Brooks (and another recruit) were in the corner opposite of the MSU bench. Also, yes, Izzo's whining is insufferable, but not as much as their entitled fans. The MSU section looked like they were doing the YMCA the whole night. They expect to get calls. They expect to be treated the way B1G refs treat them. Kansas should have stepped on their throat and won that game by 30 but they benched their starters for long periods of time. I'm sick of MSU and how they swept all the allegations under the rug and came out "clean" again. Such a joke.

  23. I read it that way as well. It's not overly flattering to simply say IU wants Indiana kids and the other programs carry many more attributes. His mind is made up regardless, so I'm sure he crafts his words carefully.
  24. Kenpom posted his rankings today. IU comes in at 28 again. It appears as though we're top 35 in offense and defense to start the year according to his algorithm. Zero B1G teams in the top 10. https://kenpom.com/
  25. It's a violation, but only for non-protected schools. What happened to UCLA when Lonzo Ball came out publicly and said he got paid to play there immediately after declaring for the draft? Nothing. Crickets.
