South Carolina at Indiana Today 3 PM Peacock

We are going to get buried by good shooting teams if we don't stop this "help" style defense. The number of wide open 3 point looks by every team so far this year is shocking to say the least. Score more than your opponent is not a strategy....just sayin'. -
If you break the coverage a few times, the DL will loosen up and we'll be able to run. Against Michigan we were on our heels for so much of the game due to some dropped passes and 2 deep red zone penalties. It turned uphill after that instead of running and throwing downhill. Early success and keeping their defense on their heels would be our key to competitiveness IMO.

I'm not bashing Purdue here, but I really don't get all this #1 hype and also the Braden Smith hype. Smith is good, but he absolutely fed on Edey - as he should have. And to be clear, Pat Fainter is an excellent coach & I hate it. Purdue fans who chirp about how Smith didn't need Edey to put up the assist numbers and spread the floor accordingly are simply delusional. Also, they are losing a massive percentage of points, rebounds and blocks. Edey was so outstanding - a true anomaly. No new talent, "ok" talent coming back, but to run away with the B1G?? This has nothing to do with whether IU will or will not perform....I simply don't get it, at all. Them ending up #1 would mean every single player takes a MASSIVE leap forward and they never really needed Edey in the first place. -
2024 IUFB Prediction League - Game 5 vs Maryland 9/28/24 Noon BTN

We're going to find out what this team is made of. I project a modest passing game, 2 TDs. And a great rushing game, 3 TDs. IU 38, Terps, 17. -
I think Cig sticks with his brand of winning. Brings home 8 wins in year 1. The man is not a fluke....he'll lead us to prominence. This era is different and is going to change the IUFB brand. I simply do not get Purdue or Kentucky in this list. I find it easy to dislike those schools, but this has nothing to do with that. They're stripped of talent. Maybe I'm way off, but I don't get it.
-
Could be, because I definitely do not like the man. To me, this is the type of schedule Crean would have put out before he built the team up. We have a well constructed team, on paper. This schedule will not prepare them for what's to come.
-
Here's part of my point to calling out CMW and the soft/weak comments. I think this schedule is humiliating to our brand and he's a big part of it. We want to be thought of as a top-tier Power 5 team. We are (or were) a Blue Blood. Name me a team that takes this ridiculous approach, soft, scared, sand-bagging approach? Here's a few teams we can start with: Purdue, Kansas, UNC, Duke, UCONN, MSU, Arizona, Baylor, Kentucky, Arkansas, Houston, Illinois, Tennessee, Gonzaga, Marquette, Wisky, Baylor, Auburn. I can go on. Build character and perspective in early tests. Losses can and are often very healthy, especially against great competition. A proven method for success. Or...build a schedule where very single team is an easy win. Don't challenge yourself. Don't risk a loss. We're "Minnesota".
-
I respectfully disagree. I caught a peek of who Nebraska and Penn State have scheduled so far, and they're dunking on us. I consider them teams we should not lose to.
-
I'm not sure which thread this belongs in, but OMG is that a soft schedule. I'd speculate every single B1G team plays a more interesting/challenging/ANYTHING schedule. All cupcakes, and pretty much all home minus Atlantis....it's simply embarrassing. We're a joke. He's a joke. A fragile little man too scared to play any level of competition. Can't wait for a season full of excuses followed by an extension.

Weak. Soft. Humiliating. Scared.

100% on this. I've seen them as high as preseason #2 nationally. Comical.

We can agree to disagree. Once the Knight guys and their habits were gone, it was a full program deterioration. Plus an administrative failure. I can't speak to why Archie found success at Dayton and that didn't transfer to IU, but I would never put Davis in any conversation relating to a quality coach. Archie at least "gets" how to coach, whether the players listen to him or not. Davis....look at his track record after those first couple of years. It's amongst the worst ever, at any school for any coach.
-
And way, way down the list: Dan Dakich. 1. Sampson, and there's a considerable gap between him and the rest 2. Crean 3. Mike Woodson and Archie Miller 4. Tie for the toilet bowl, Mike Davis & Dan Dakich None of #2-4 make the best of what we have. They stink, actually. Davis was a clown. Dakich is a clown. Crean & Woody's success has been totally dependent on talent. I love the coaches who can really squeeze talent out of a program and medicre players. Painfully: Purdue, Wisconsin, FAU, Virginia, etc. I honestly thought Archie was that guy.

Yeah but how many wins can we get if we only shoot long 2's? Other teams will never see it coming! -
Transfer Portal w IU Interest
iu-dl replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yikes it's a little spicy in here this morning. I heard Brad Stevens was on the market. -
I'm questioning the direction of the entire program & administration yet again with a simple concept: Give Woodson a "bag" of money and go "buy high character players" since he struck out on recruiting. Those two concepts don't line up, my friends. High character guys, and good teammates in general, aren't what we're looking for. They're looking for a spot in Lexington.
-
NGW must stand for something creative. Something like... Never Gonna Win, Nearly Geriatric Woodson, Not Gonna Work, Neglected Game Woodson, Notably Grimacing Woodson, or my favorite - Not Great, Woodson. And TYME of course is shorthand for Time You Moved Elsewhere.
-
I'd speculate Tyme is Woodson's burner, but that would require Woody to (1) use technology (2) take a break from Wine-down-Wednesday. It's also not written in the third person so there's no way it's him.
-
I’m setting myself up for horrible disappointment, but I still think IU parts ways with Woodson. If Dolson is getting this feedback - that we can’t even pay players to come here, it’s time for Woody to go. It cannot be ignored because feelings might get hurt. I personally like what I've seen out of Dolson. I don't think he's a push over and won't just sit there and watch things crumble. IUBB is in the same state (or similar) to IUFB. He gave CTA the axe, and he (CTA) might be the nicest person on earth. He's not afraid to do the same for the program that put us on the map; things just need to work themselves out and align. Sincerely, preparing to get my heart stomped on with metal cleats covered in dog sh*t.
-
Lord. Print this and hand deliver it to Dolson, Chris.
-
Hope Dolson is paying attention to what's happening (happened) to the state of college basketball in Indiana. Humiliating mismanagement. Let's make sure we don't hurt anyone's feelings today though. I'd hate for Woody to go to bed grumpy so we can watch his lethargic as$ mope around the sidelines all next year just to fall even further behind. F this.
