For those who want Fife, care to explain your reasoning? Not trying to attack anyone, just honestly curious. I posted this in another thread (may have been this one, not sure with 10 pages being added every day lol) that I don't think anyone would be mentioning him if he didn't play here. Losing record as a D1 coach. Yes he's done well recruiting, but that's for Izzo ultimately. I just see nothing that should put him even close to our radar.

Still living on here and 247 hoping someone else can confirm Mag's post.. Just your typical Sunday afternoon lol

Can't recall him having inside info in the past, but as others have alluded to, he's been a good poster. I'll be cautiously optimistic

Did magnamanious delete his posts?

I can't really point to specifics but he has a really good track record. Hardly ever posts and when he does it isn't nonsense or trolling. I can't recall a time when he's been wrong to be honest.

HickoryHoosier is also close to the program and says he is gone. That guy always has really solid info so I'm starting to finally believe it's over.

It's funny, because this to me feels like the final F you to the fans from Crean. I think he knows it's over, and he's heard the chants for Priller through the years. There is no other justifiable reason to have him in the game. Jmo -

Numerous past players don't like him. Not sure of the kids on this years team but guys like Vonleh and Sheehey despised him. Heard a story once that Victor isn't his biggest fan either -

You would think the players have a general feel of how the fanbase feels towards Crean. A lot of times that rallies the troops and you see players go that much harder for their coach. I'm not seeing that at all and I think it speaks volumes. -

I hate it for the players, but it almost needs to happen. Anything that shows our administration we're fed up with this product. -

If the admin hasn't made up their mind yet, I'm on the tank train. My heart can't take another season of this. -
If Fife wasn't a former Indiana player would we be mentioning him at all? I don't think so. His numbers don't justify inclusion with anyone that's been mentioned here regularly. And lets be honest, he's recruiting guys for Izzo. That's an easy sell for any decent coach. I don't hate Fife, I just don't think he belongs in the discussion for next coach here.

Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Billy Donovan (OKC Thunder)
VO5 replied to Feathery's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I wasn't advocating for Glass to lie, just saying I'm sure it happens around the college basketball landscape and sports in general. I didn't like the search firm idea as it didn't seem to benefit IU in the best way possible in my eyes. I appreciate all the responses. It doesn't seem as sketchy after some clarification -
Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Billy Donovan (OKC Thunder)

I mean, couldn't Fred just lie? What does it matter if he's telling the truth. I would think doing what's best for our basketball program would trump that. Seems like ADs give a vote of confidence and go back on their word quite a bit. It's probably what you said, but I guess I just don't see the need for it, especially when it's someone that isn't invested in IU one bit -
Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Billy Donovan (OKC Thunder)

I get that, but he said they use their own connections and that makes me think they do It for the good of their own company, not IU -

Okay, anyone that is reading Mile's and 0708's posts can chime in here. I do not understand using a search firm for coaches. Mile alluded to us using a "coaching search firm" to hire Crean previously and it comes down to connections. He mentioned we are using it again this time. Fogler or something like that. Can our administration not do their own due diligence for the good of our university? Can they not understand what a good coach looks like and do that research themselves? I guess it baffles me when Mile says we are using a search firm that panders to their own connections and isn't affiliated with the university. How could they possibly know who would be the best fit here? It blows my mind if that is true, or maybe I'm not understanding something. -
One good year this year. I'll pass until he shows consistency

Yeah sorry. Should've clarified above that I meant guys like Wade and Jankovich. Agree with the rest. My worry is if we strike out on guys like Donovan and Archie, we'll go for one of those types. That would really scare me. Not saying it couldn't work out, but where our program stands now I would absolutely want a proven commodity over a hopeful candidate.
