Fun anecdote from a friend/coworker who happens to be a UNC grad that grew up an IU fan: “Only IU could have an alumnus that’s the hottest mid major coach in the country, and stay with Mike Woodson.”

I think the biggest fear (and justifiably after this nonsense) is mediocre and squeaking into the tournament buys year 5. I think it’s obvious bad and he may not survive the season. But a first round blow out and run it back for portal mania is a very real possibility now I think.

Now that’s a name I haven’t thought of in a while. I remember that one hurting lol I really wanted him.

Is Jalen Blackmon a possibility, don’t know much about his game other than the measurables and shooting splits are impressive. 38% 3PT and 91% FT on decent attempts. On paper it looks like he’s getting to the rim and shooting it well outside.

I think if you can target Indiana players that ALSO fit the needs we would be stupid not to. I don’t want to believe this is simply Indiana Ignite for dollars only. If they didn’t exist then so be it get the best we need from wherever. I just am leery of the national mercenary plan. I’d be ecstatic if we could fill needs with legitimate rotations guys with Indiana ties. It’s probably a stupid take on my part but it still matters to me.

I think the top of my wish list is the guard from Harvard. I don’t pay as close attention to this as HS recruiting so this is going to be a learning experience this offseason? Any good rumors of who might leave other places? I find the transfer portal to be mysterious lol

And it’s why some people like me only use and read this one. I’m pretty sure I had one removed and I am guessing it was something I said kinda mean about Woody and I think was probably misunderstood it happens. That said, the moderation doesn’t bother me at all it’s what keeps this from becoming peegs and isn’t overdone to quiet all dissenting voices like others I won’t name and don’t read. I don’t know, Tonsoni was almost in tears over the true fan comment. I think that stung deeper especially for the older crowd that’s actually seen elite basketball. Those of us in the 30-40 crowd are used to terrible basketball and being blamed for it, so to me it’s just old man yelling at clouds. I did have at least one family member over 60 text me he was furious— and he’s been pro-woody since day one. It’s anecdotal so I didn’t share it, but when I finally saw Tonsoni it made more sense.

It’s just unfortunate if he was it didn’t work against the upper half of the conference, and Penn state. Leal may not like us, but he’s not a dummy. Someone mentioned he would be snapped up as a 12/13th man in a minute. Maybe that’s true, but not for the money he’s gotten here. Real Estate is fickle, wearing the candystripes for 40 minutes, watching basketball from floor level and getting paid to do it, isn’t.

My wife looked at me early in the game and goes “that’s bleak.” I hadn’t noticed the graphic CBS had put up. It said: INDIANA BASKETBALL: *First three game Big Ten win streak of season *Mike Woodson returning as head coach *Lost commitment of 5-star Liam McNeeley All I could do was laugh. That was the CBS quick wrap on our season.

Really surprised to learn players and coaches were never criticized and heckled at IU before this season. Must have been a shock to their systems to lose in listless, uninspired fashion all year and hear about it. Personally, I don’t really care about their comments. Woody is arrogant and feeling himself after 4 huge wins against teams not going to the tournament. The players, again, don’t really care. I just find it funny being lectured by someone who made enough money in NIL while playing in 11 games and scoring 0 points that season to go viral paying off family debt. I am guessing most places don’t have the fan support to fund things like that for guys 12th on the rotation.

My problem with all of this is where was all this attitude and fire when Nebraska and Penn State were running us off the floor? Where was the anger and intensity and "salty coach" when we were losing by 20+ to everyone ranked except Kansas. Where was it when Edey hit his one and only 3 in our building up a million? Because I don't remember any viral moments of fire then. I remember humps and player blame and CMW looking like he wanted to do anything other than coach Indiana University basketball. Yea, great we won some games at the end and now he feels like he can let us have it. Leal/Gallo? Whatever, emotional and defending their coach, I get it. But they also are not amateurs by any stretch of the imagination. Whether anyone wants to acknowledge it nationally or not, they are employees largely funded by fans. So I also understand people being irked by their comments.

Watched a couple snippets of postgame, and the nail has met the coffin for the Fire Woody Campaign. I do not see how this is not a disaster next season, and man do they have some work to do before May. We will know before summer starts whether it is bad or really bad. I am annoyed this is where we are at, but the offseason will at least be interesting. Whatever. I will happily eat an entire bowl of lukewarm crow if we win a bunch of games next year, but I see no path to that.

It's just conjecture on betting sites, but that would put us at 6-8 in Quad 1. For example, Nebraska would also have to win 2 in the BTT to get to 6-8. I thought it was crazy too, and I think our NET kills us, but the more I looked, i think there might be a path as crazy as that sounds. But I am just a moron on the internet.

This win puts us on the bottom of the bracket away from Purdue. Two wins and 20-13, basically all the betting site analytics would give us like 70% chance to make the NCAA tournament. And the second game wouldn't be Purdue. Make the final and that goes up to like 90% with 21 wins. Not saying its super likely, but we have somehow played our way into a chance. When two weeks ago it was nil.

But I was lead to believe good coaches and players don't want to play at IU due to the crazy fan base. Unless, of course, they are in the transfer portal and getting paid. In which case, they are definitely going to come to IU. In all seriousness, I too would have concerns about May versus an established guy, but I think most people are doomposting because of how much it would hurt to see and IU guy build something special at another B1G school and we stayed aboard a sinking ship too long. Dusty at say some random Big12 or ACC school winning would not bother me. Him crushing it at OSU would be devastating.

@Ngw7183 I just said I already did. See above. I’m not the business of claiming I said something I never said. From about 25 pages ago. I never said people aren’t using the transfer portal. I said they aren’t using it exclusively.

Dude I literally did that and it in no way supports your narrative. Two teams brought in 5 this season and are good. Kansas and UNC. That’s it. The only real examples of March success with same year huge transfer portal hauls are KSU (new coach) and TT (new coach). And they are all STILL RECRUITING HIGH SCHOOL KIDS. Repeating “there are lots of examples” over and over doesn’t make it true.
