I guess the whole “no one bigger than the program ever again” stuff was BS lol. We are being hamstrung by two dudes who were major parts of making that guy “bigger than the program.”

I mean I don’t think this is a wild take. How often do programs the size of OSU, Michigan and Louisville open? To me, it is more about the type of program than quantity, and you alluded to it, but it cascades. Cronin to UL? UCLA open. Miller to OSU? Xavier open. Etc. etc. Side question, and I’ll preface I am on record as I would take May yesterday but I prefer Pearl. Do you think, given the lack of support from QB, and assuming Dolson can act unilaterally that he would actually fire Woody without someone proven at the P5 level locked up? I don’t think May is much of a risk, but if he didn’t work out, that’s Dolsons job. I am just not sure he takes it without a grand slam lined up. Thoughts?

This is all nauseating. I hope it isn't true, particularly the HH and practice piece. I do find it strange there has been seemingly no cross-promotion or marketing done with the run the women have been on under Teri. You would think he would have made an appearance at least watching a home game when able due to schedule or some other joint media. Correct me if I am wrong please, I just do not recall seeing anything of the sort.

Great point! Forgot about that entirely.. I was too surprised at what seemed like a conscious decision to not play them at the same time versus the old two foul auto-bench.

We had a modern 4, we played him at the 3 all season until the last four games when I saw some clear choices to leave MR on the bench. If we cared about winning, there would have been some combination of Ware/MM/AW or MR/MM/AW on the court at all times but never Ware and MR at the same time and obviously limited minutes for AW. At least not for extended run unless it made sense from an opposing personnel standpoint. Wanna start them both? Fine, then sub out and start the substitution patterns from there. There was an interesting stretch during one of the last four (don't remember which one so bear with me), where MR was on the bench (not because of fouls), MM at the 4 and the offense was wide open. It was actually fun to watch. MR gets subbed back in at the under-4 and the offense stalled somewhat with the clogged lane and pounding the ball inside and he was taken back out at like 2:15 left and we iced it.

I guess they’re finally going to awaken the sleeping giant that is Kentucky Basketball recruiting. Maybe they will finally be able to land 5 of the top 10 players instead of just 3 next season.

I can’t remember who it was, maybe that Scotty D cat, but someone said something to the effect we should be rooting for wins not losses for what seemed like this reason. I don’t believe it, but it is certainly something to watch.

The lack of official statement from the AD is one of two things IMO. Either Dolson does not want his name on a direct report because he disagrees with the decision and it his only way to protest, or, they legitimately don’t think they have to and we don’t deserve/need verification. The silence from his office during this is deafening. I don’t think it means anything we want is happening, but it is interesting.

The other is Kansas. I tried showing him actual facts and he just ignored every post. Even examples like Utah State are disingenuous to what he was arguing and cherry picked to fit a narrative. Yes, they took in 6 transfers. But that wasn’t because it is their technique, they lost 8 to the portal. It wasn’t a choice it was a necessity due to having a new coach. The other examples are the same (KSU, TT). Really TT is the only example that fits the argument as they hit it hard again post-beard and have been marginally successful.

If we let OSU hire Dusty and he immediately wins, that train will have left the station unless Dusty REALLY REALLY wants to coach IU. We are at watershed moment in some ways, and we should have a pretty good idea what next year looks like when the portal closes. The needs are obvious and clear, we either somehow meet them and hope for average to above average results, or we don’t and next year could really set us back. My canary in a coal mine is center. If we land a starter level center, then there is no way we modernize. It will be more of the same. If we land a rim protector for the bench, maybe we try to change. While MR has developed, he can’t be trusted at the 5, he will foul out every other game. Our roster is a catch-22 right now.

So true. I’ll be honest, had they made those speeches after winning the BTT, I would have nodded along and taken the medicine. They were acting like some massive proverbial monkey got removed by 4 wins against floundering teams. Two in which we squandered big leads and one we had to come back from down big. Win the BTT and talk all you want. Maybe Michigan does us a solid and beats PSU? Lol a guy can hope!

I actually like the draw despite how bad we played against PSU and Nebby. It’s hard to beat a team 3 times in a season. After those two, all bets are off IMO with how well OSU is playing. Illinois is definitely not inevitable at this point. I don’t see a path to beating Purdue unfortunately— we would need help there I think.

Has there been an update? Or are we probably not going to find out until tomorrow?

I try to get some actual work done and come back and my boy took his ball and went home? Unfortunate, I’ve been on pins and needles waiting for the spreadsheet to tell me how many teams have been really good with a ton of transfers. He never had time I guess. I suppose I will have to rely on 24/7 and my own eyeballs for that answer.

I was aware of his time at Kentucky when I wrote it, and it was mostly a joke based on his outlandish press conference. I don’t really care who Woody hires at this point. I say mostly because it is more about optics right now and the idea of stacking failed head coaches on staff to me. Maybe he’s the best recruiter ever, I don’t know, maybe he’d completely turn us around with HS recruits, I don’t know, I do know Kentucky lost exactly zero beats on the recruiting trail after he left and he’s won 12 games in two years. Maybe he could do what a 2X FF participant, 5x B1G champion, 4x BTT champion couldn’t and get Woody to use him.
