K literally has an office on campus, and runs a podcast there. Scheyer is coaching Duke in the same way a kid is driving the boat from his dad’s lap. He’s also still benefitting from an absurd recruiting advantage due to K. When no one wants Duke and the ACC collapses, their silly run is over. Book it.

UNC, UK, UL, Nova, UCONN, UCLAx2, Florida and probably Kansas sooner than later would like a word. Established P5 Coaches with zero personal tie to the school aren’t leaving good jobs for other big jobs. It simply isn’t happening now that everyone can pay players. I’m not saying it doesn’t stink to have reality bite us in the face, but this is the market. It doesn’t speak to what IU is or isn’t as a job.

And you know I appreciate you, and by that logic I have to believe it’s been done the entire time, or it was over a while ago but Dolson has chosen to keep this as silent as possible. I’m fine with either, and wasn’t making a comment on his info, it’s just absurd to think Brad can’t make up his mind or Dolson somehow fumbled it now or didn’t agree to something— which I said I didn’t believe was true. I have an incredibly hard time believing we wouldn’t essentially call Brads bluff and agree to whatever demands he would have made. I also don’t think someone who went from not coaching to coaching to front office is someone who needs this long to make up his mind. So it’s either been done, or it never was. I guess we could say it’s possible the president of the most storied franchise in the NBA is indecisive, but that’s not a jump I can believe. What? I’m not upset at what you’re saying. It just isn’t believable, unless one of two things is true. And for the second time, to paraphrase myself since you again ignored what I said. Either Scott Dolson is maybe the dumbest person on earth for allowing someone like Stevens who is in an infinitely more cushy job have five weeks to think it over (or longer since we have been squarely on the bubble the entire time). Or Brad Stevens is being begged to take a job for 70 million dollars and can’t quite make up his mind like he’s getting dressed for prom. It’s absurd on its face on both accounts. The most logical explanation is there was possibly an initial agreement. Hence, tons of smoke, which cleared out within a week when he probably told Dolson no. Since, it’s been played close to the vest. It doesn’t have to be more complicated than that. Or, which I’ve said twice now, the agreement is still in place, which I personally think is unlikely, but still possible.

I never said anything about a verbal. I said believing there was a done deal and it somehow might have broken down at the 11th hour some five weeks later isn’t remotely believable. To paraphrase myself since you didn’t read what I said: “it’s either done, or it was dead in a week.” And that’s before you start getting into the weeds on it not being a state secret Woody was on his last leg a year ago. If your original comment is true, either Brad Stevens is the single most indecisive human ever offered 8 figures, or Scott Dolson is a complete and total dunce. Neither of which I believe is true.

That’s simply not believable. Honestly, the whole squabbling over a couple million here or there or Brad trying to make up his mind for four weeks just isn’t something that makes the slightest sense. It’s more absurd than the notion he’d actually still be Scott’s guy. It’s either done, or it was maybe a week at most of negotiation and we moved on. There is zero chance this has gone back and forth for this long with Stevens.

Weird to say this, but almost happy I could not watch that game today. At this point in the search, as long as it isn't Brownwell or Turgeion I am just gonna be happy it isn't Woody. Coaches aren't leaving good programs they have rolling for other programs. It is what it is. I just want a college basketball coach. Give me McCollum and lets win basketball games again. Or lets all meet back here in 2029. So tired of expecting losses.

I don't think anyone would have to say "Hey Chris this is about Bradley Stevens" to understand that the level of money and tradecraft involved would only apply to one candidate lol. You wouldn't have to be a rocket surgeon to connect those dots from a source without naming names. And I say this as someone who thinks the Stevens ship probably sailed, but obviously something around the IU bubble is still fishy related to this hire. Whether that is Stevens or someone else who knows.

I'd be more shocked than I was when we hired Woody if we hired someone on an active show cause. That said, I care precisely none about financial silliness and paying players. I would take Wade, but I would put the chances at less than zero.
