If those two are available, that’s a top-25 maybe top-15ish team all season and the DD conversation is completely different right now. The fact he still had them a tournament team was just good coaching. (Snubbed obviously but that team should have been in)

This game is so good.

I thought Archie would be good, but him looking like he’d seen a ghost from the jump should have been a sign. I always questioned Crean due to DWade. Obvious he was a good talent evaluator, but how much can be drawn from a final four with a guy who had a top-20 all time NBA player on his roster. Woody I hated from the jump but tried to see the positives. This feels completely different. He’s a coach, a recruiter, and someone who embraces NIL. I also like that he pointed out we and he respected his current team. Also Iowa and WV people are melting down over it, so that’s a bonus.

Luckily Tennessee football and WV basketball aren’t really comparable. And USC football was in a completely different position at that time than IUBB is now. Also he was quite a bit younger and had already flamed out in the NfL. Pretty awful comparison honestly.

Personally I think I’ll just be going with the double Ds. So enjoy that for hopefully the next 20 odd years lol

GP was like the only national guy hating on us for giving Woody an extra year and not hiring Dusty last season. He thought giving Woody a fourth and losing an alumni who was the hottest mid major guy on the market was insanity. So I appreciated that lol

Finally got to watch, and all I can say is that first 25+ win regular season is gonna hit like absolute crack. Recruiting is about to be so fun again.

We hired a guy who flipped Drake, flipped WVU, who had a top three transfer class in his first year, who has a top 25 high school class for next year, and continued having a decent year after losing his best player and from a P5 school. and people are pissed. Anyone who thinks it’s not a solid hire is living in fantasy land

A successful athletic department isn’t going to be giving ultimatums to the types of donors you need to fund a 7 million dollar roster. Zero chance he threatened the type of people he needed to secure that kind of money on top of profit share. I know nothing but I’m guessing Ferguson didn’t lose his access for supporting his buddy. Also very little chance that he convinced them in 72 hours. That was my main point. If, and it’s an if, the numbers are accurate, that didn’t happen in a 72 hour vacuum. JMO

That’s pretty big time if true. There’s boosters on board with this if those numbers are legit. Those numbers also mean this didn’t happen after WVU got left out Sunday. Dolson had this in motion at the very least and this was his guy. I’d imagine Iowa was never a real player until they found out they weren’t. Also, we need a complain about the hire thread for those so inclined. No judgment from me for those that want to complain, but GD the program has been negative for long enough. Let him give us a reason to be negative. This isn’t remotely similar to the Woody hiring.

I have only one buddy who went to WV and he is big mad, so I’ve enjoyed the last hour at his expense. A direct quote is “our nil is dogshit so I’m sure IU takes the recruits too except for maybe the kid from WVa.”

I’m so excited to have an actual college basketball coach again. Guy recruits really well, has fully embraced NIL and transfer portal. Maybe it doesn’t work, that’s life, but this is the market. Successful coaches aren’t leaving programs with basketball commitment and decent NIL. Every example of recent “basketball school” opening has confirmed it. There’s a ton of data. I imagine Kansas will be in for a rude awakening too eventually. Let’s go. Portal SZN
