It's a valid point, but let's not act like Stanford and its zone are in the same level as Syracuse's. Dayton's road so far has been a gift. Let's see how Archie and his boys do against the top dog. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
A gift? They beat Ohio State, Syracuse and then Stanford.... I wouldn't consider that a gift.... They have worked hard and best quality teams Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

No surprise here! Projected top ten pick! Can't blame the kid! IU better get a decent big player! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Steve Alford's Bruins are playing extremely well! I think his team is good enough to make a run at the Final Four. Happy for him and Korey Barnett! I love watching former Hoosiers succeed! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
He didn't do as well at Marquette as you think he did. He had that one year and that was about it, aside from that one year they were little more than decent for 8 of 9 years. I'm going to bow out of this now before it this thread gets hijacked, but you should look at what they both did at Marquette and look at Crean's entire career there instead of picking out the only good year he had. Marquette was merely decent with Crean and Williams has done just as well at Marquette as Crean has done here.
I'm bowing out too. I think you are correct also. I guess, Crean got a lot of credit for building the program there. Perhaps, more credit than he should've? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
In Williams's first two years the best they did was the second round of the NCAAs. His 3rd and 4th years were both Sweet 16s, and his 5th year was an Elite 8. This season wasn't very good (ours was a dumpster fire), but the last couple years he did just as well as Tom Crean did here. I wouldn't exactly say he struggled with his own players. I was on the Scout board when Crean was hired, they didn't miss Crean much and had many of the same complaints about him that we do.
They shouldn't complain like we do! At least he led them to a final 4! Shoot, I forgot what it felt like to make it past the Sweet 16! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Buzz Williams did a great job coaching Tom Crean's guys but once they were gone he struggled. Marquette fans didn't care for Buzz. I've heard they still miss Coach Crean. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
Hoiberg is one of the best tacticians I've seen in a long time. IMO, he's better than Stevens. But he's at his alma mater and doing well. I doubt it would be easy to lure him away. He's probably no more realistic than Stevens.
You're exactly right but everybody has a price tag (Stevens did) and if IU would open the checkbook, you never know what will happen Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
Who would you hire to replace CTC?
jnape34 replied to KelleyHoosh's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Obviously CTC is safe for now but things could get interesting in the future. I would love it if IU would hire a former Hoosier. However, if they don't and CTC does get the boot...... Why not Fred Hoiberg? He has done a great job at Iowa state and is a great young coach. He also has some Indiana ties since he played for the Pacers. I think CTC is safe but Hoiberg would be an acceptable hire. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
Steve Alford doing great in first year at UCLA
Naw man the farthest he has made is the sweet sixteen. I do agree he can at UCLA though.
My bad I thought you said that he's never taken a team to the Sweet 16! I wish him the best of luck! I just want to see the Hoosiers do well and get another banner! I hope Crean is the coach that will lead us there... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

I'm already considering him gone. He will be a lottery pick. However, I will be thrilled if he stays! It's a win win situation for IU and Coach Crean. If he stays he will only get better and it will make IU a better team. If he goes pro then that will be 3 lottery picks in 2 years for IU. That will make more kids want to choose IU.
