Absolutely. He went to 3 sweet 16s in his first 4 years too. It didn't take him very long to build his program, certainly not the 11 to 16 total years that we are supposed to be giving Crean now.

OK. If that's the case, then Crean is not the guy. That would be longer than any other great coach has ever taken. If you believe that, I'd say why not look for someone else now? Seriously, if it takes Crean that long, he'll never get the job done. Look at history and how quickly the great ones have done it.

We have already been more patient with Crean than any other coach in the program's history. How much patience are we supposed to have? What makes him so special we should be more patient with him?

  We'll just have to agree and to disagree. I'd rather try to find someone great rather than settle for the mediocrity that is Crean. And, I really don't give two cents if some fans would go apesh*t over a hire. They did that when Knight was hired. That might have worked out OK.

  I think you can call and ask about the IU guys, but I don't want to see us limit ourselves to them because they are Indiana guys. If people in the know think that they have what it takes, then great. But, we would be making a mistake to assume they have it because they used to wear the candy stripes.

  You are thinking about this all wrong. We don't need to get a guy with a proven resume. The guys who have proven themselves are few and far between and they aren't coming to IU.   But, somewhere out there is the next great crop of young coaches waiting for schools to discover. Somewhere out there are the next Boeheims, Izzos, Roy Williams and Coach Ks. Look at their resumes before they got their gigs. They would be rejected as unproven by many IU fans so we might as well settle for Crean. Or think about if we had hired Stevens six years ago before he had proven himself. What if we had been the school to identify him as a great coaching talent?   What we need to do is talk to great coaches. Pick up the phone and call Bill Self. Call Coach K. Call Boeheim and Williams. Call them all. Talk to them about who has the talent. What young coaches do they think have what it takes to run an elite program?   Let's find that young coach and find him before everyone else on the planet wants him. It's what we did with McCracken and Knight. Let's let that young coach prove himself at IU. That's the only way that we are going to hit a grand slam. Sure, we might strike out. We'll have to be willing to fire the coach if he doesn't work out. But, why the hell shouldn't we look for someone who can be our next great coach for 20 or 30 years? If we know Crean isn't that guy, let's try to find someone who is.   I don't know who that guy is. I have some ideas that if I were Glass I would run by today's elite coaches. I'm particularly intrigued by Danny Manning, but that just might be because I KNOW he can coach big men. But, we can call and ask about some former IU players too. Or assistants who just need a chance.   We are Indiana. Let's swing for the fences instead of settling for a double.

Not that I agree with your analysis, but if what you say about where Noah struggles is true, he should leave. Quickness doesn't always improve much. He risks falling in draft status because of lack of improvement in those areas by staying.

Tough to answer right now. Does Noah come back? If yes, Crean lasts 2 - 4 more years, maybe more depending on recruiting. If Noah leaves, I'd guess next year is it for Crean. I voted 2 - 4 because I'm trying to be positive.

  Our you saying that our players don't look good in our current jerseys? That is just a subjective opinion. One that I strongly disagree with.   Personally, I think the new jerseys are unnecessary, ugly, and a cheap money grab that Indiana should stay away from. I predict not one single recruit comes to IU who wouldn't have because of these jerseys. Adidas will undoubtedly be happy that a few people will buy replicas of them though, so there's that.

He's a professional troll. When he thinks IU fans are happy about the team and the coach, he finds something bad to say. When the fanbase turns negative, Dakich is suddenly calling a Tom Crean lovefest from the opening tip. There is often some truth in what he says, but he shades it to go against what he is hearing from IU fans. It's just what he does and what he is paid very well to do.

The ceiling? There is no ceiling. We could win the conference tournament and kill everyone in the dance on the way to banner six.   Technically, it could still happen.                     Realistically, Charlie is right though. NIT bound, I'm afraid.

Does anyone have any actual evidence that recruits don't like our uniforms and would like us to at least have an alternate? Anyone?   Why don't we just get rid of the candy stripes to? Maybe we can put names on the back of these uniforms? Oh, and we could retire numbers?   Mike Davis would laugh because new uniforms and all the other things were stuff that he wanted. Then, he never did get that It's Indiana.

  Why? They are educated people that we rely on to make level-headed decisions for the future of the university and the athletic department.   I'd argue that if the administration doesn't understand how statistically improbable it is, then we are in much bigger trouble.

  Did Crean win a title?   Let's not forget that UK ran Tubby out of town two years after an Elite Eight appearance. Oh how Indiana fans laughed when Tubby proved how ridiculous UK was when he was at Minnesota ... or not.

Because we know our season isn't really on the line, at least the non-delusional of us do. We aren't making the tournament unless we win the conference tourney. It is what it is.
