So this guy walks into the bar and asks the bartender if there's wifi. Bartender says sure. Guy asks: " What's the password?" Bartender says: "You have to buy a beer first." Guy says ok. Buys a beer. Finishes it. Asks what the password is. Bartender: "You have to buy a beer first." -

IU is going to double WKU's score. WKU has seen the end zone the last time. Oh ye of little faith. Been watching IU football since the 60's. Rose Bowl here we come! And world peace in our time. And the check is in the mail. -

Ball looked like it went backwards to me. But this 100 proof is not too bad. -

A friend of mine, except certain game days, says that the WKU QB will throw 4 TDs today. I said that he meant 4 interceptions. Come on Hoosiers! Lots of people are pessimistic when thinking about IU football. Not me. I'm a glass is half full of bourbon guy. -
2022 IUFB Prediction League - Week 3 vs Western Kentucky 9/17/22 Noon BTN

Game Day! IU puts it all together in this game. The running game keeps improving. QBs start hitting their receivers. More receivers than just the favorite 2. Control the game. Keep the ball. Defense against the run is better in this game. WKU's QB is brand new, and they lost a good WR from last year. WKU is likely about as good as Idaho. Not quite as good as last year's bowl team. Coach Allen said that IU has to win the first quarter. And sustain that throughout. Just do it. It will be 80 degrees at kickoff. Is IU deeper? Yes. Is IU at home? Yes. Will IU double WKU's score? Oh, YES! -

Flaws just might be corrected. But they do stick around and have better 2nd halves. To me, that is promising. Still, IU has a tough way to go. Just keep winning! -

Well, I did get on to Fox Sports streaming. But, I wonder why. At least 6 terrible plays on offense. Sorry 7. Think I will grab my Kindle and finish a detective noir. IU will play better in the 2nd half. Right? G'night. Just beat Purdue. And wait until basketball season. Will be in Maui in 3 weeks. Something to look forward to during football season. -

Clemson's passing was great. 4 controversial calls in 2nd period changed the momentum to Clemson. But was their game most of the way. Good showing on the road against #1. -

Indiana is undefeated and leads the Big Ten East! Whoo Hooo! Now for my game prediction: IU starts at home, under the lights, against an Illinois team that will have gotten one game under it's belt. An excellent opportunity for IU. Close game, IU 24 - UI 21. -
"You cannot be suspended for dropped charges." Quoted from the post. If that is not a policy then the coach may suspend for dropped charges. That was my point. Your statement is not correct if it isn't a policy. The bold makes sense. As much as scrubbing the floor with a toothbrush does.
-
I do not know the policy that is referred to in the above post. I speculate that the coach may and can suspend a player for any infraction of a team or specific rule or edict. Whether or not charges were dropped may or may not be a factor. What may have happened is that the charges were dropped because of the plea deal. Or it may have happened because the prosecutor decided to not go to trial with it for whatever reason. One reason may be insufficient or questionable inputs. The coach would have found out. Let's see...if coach knows that XJ tried to avoid the cops and ignored the police...and tried to coverup his driving the vehicle and jeopardizes the health, safety etc of others...and jeopardizes his own college experience and not to mention jeopardizes wins and the team play etc. Gee...no biggie. /s Scrubbing the floor with a toothbrush seems like it would teach XJ to evade the cops and lie and the heck with others' safety and welfare. And other team members would learn it is ok. And families of future prospects would learn that anything goes at IU. It's only sports.
-
I'm glad that this is behind the team. I'm glad that we, the fans and the team, will see XJ play at the point this season. But if the original charges were correct, then the above characterization as just "...speeding and that isn't that big of a deal..." to me is either disingenuous or outright wrong. (In my humble opinion, of course.) It was reported that he allegedly put riders and the public at risk of injury and then tried to evade the police. Then allegedly talked his passengers into swapping positions to attempt to coverup his being the driver. Thereby giving false statements to police. And XJ has been in the hot seat if I remember correctly and suspended before. He is an upperclassman and supposed to be a leader on the team and he pulls this crap. I am glad that I do not make the disciplinary decisions. But I do believe that XJ made those decisions when he put himself and others at risk and jeopardized his friends and his team. Not to mention putting another blot on Indiana University athletics. Once again, I have very mixed feelings about this. But of course I do not have insider's knowledge of any of it. Seems to me that XJ was on double secret probation before this happened. He must be on tripple-dipple top secret suspendability Pro-bation now. /snark He will sit for a couple of games, I guess. Thank goodness he was not drinking. I guess that that means that XJ made the above referenced really stupid decisions while mostly sober, eh? What the heck does XJ require? A babysitter or minder? If you were the coach, would you ask for his driver's license and keep it for a while? Suspend him or not? Seems to me like progressive discipline requires suspension beyond one game. XJ needs to lead the team with others and not down the wrong path. He needs to grow up. His actions and the coach's decision on discipline could have such negative (or positive) impacts... And I am not just referring to short-term impacts. It is not just about sports or wins. It is also about teaching, representing IU, changing team culture, funding by the State of Indiana and support by fans. And not to mention future recruiting...and not just by the basketball coaches. Go IU!

Archie Miller did not succeed in getting someone in 'over' Phin. Al Durham was not the leader or a PG. And Armaan Franklin was a frosh. And Devonte Green was Devonte Greenish. And Lander was never ready for prime time. Thought Phin had two concussions, an abdominal injury, and a foot injury. The plantar fasciitis issue in his right foot had been a lingering issue. His first concussion happened midway through his freshman year. With all of that, to come back and be a consistently effective shooter is asking a lot. I remember not understanding why he was not as quick penetrating and dishing after his first concussion. Some thought it was a lack of confidence. I am not sold on that. Archie just did not play him as much. Not sure why. In his sophomore year some fans noted that Phin played through some pain. I also remember him getting strep throat. He seemed to "have it" on defense. And he was a steadying force on offense. But as a starting guard he sure didn't put up the points. Not having a great B10 capable PG year in and year out was bad. But it was just one of many issues during Archie's coaching stint at IU. -

Crean is an extrovert, a sunshine pumper. "It's Indiana!!" Archie is an introvert. (*crickets*) His hiring may have been an opposite pendulum swing from his predecessor in many ways. They loved him at Dayton because he won, teams improved during the year; didn't curse loudly during games and didn't use wolf whistles at players during games like Brian Gregory. And he won. Fans of UD think that Archie Miller lost at IU because of lack of support by the Indiana administration. Could be right. I think so, too. That and Phin's injuries. Losing 3 years of a seasoned and excellent PG really sucked. That and the unresolved locker room issues...why Archie didn't tell players: My way or the highway...is also arguable. (ie Administration edict against 'Creaning'?)
