(2024) - PG Boogie Fland to Kentucky
Dave from Dayton replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Archie walked on water in Dayton. Got teams to overachieve. Then went to IU. Don't believe he got the green light that Woody has. For example...the recruiting staff, the ability to go after recruits no matter where they are. And the freedom to get rid of players that were...ahem...counterproductive to teaming....was limited severely...apparently. Sure he did not produce. But the administration seemed to not support him. One example was the PG he had recruited...and allegedly was told that IU did not want someone that Archie had inked for Dayton. Archie seemed to me to be neutered by the AD. Never got over that. Woody is the right guy at the right time. Maybe. I hope. If we start competing at the highest levels. If we get a PG that is competitive...at the highest levels. Let's see. Come on Boogie. We really think you are special. -
2023 IUFB Prediction League - Week 7 vs Rutger 10/21/23 Noon BTN
Dave from Dayton replied to LIHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Rut grrrr 17 Who's Yours? 24 This game is decided on which offensive team plays well more than one quarter...i Rut grrr got lucky against MSU in the 4th quarter. IU gets lucky and puts together two quarters. One in each half. Wins! Boogie Fland picks IU. Queen goes to MD. And there is peace on Earth in our lifetime. And LEO actually works better than having knowledge of what it takes to be a good and competitive football team. -
Game thread: IUFB at UMich - 12:00 on Fox

Let's play the Blame Game! Pick at least one: 1. Scores less than the opponent; 2. It's the fans' fault; 3. It's Tom Allen's fault; 4. One player is playing as badly as the rest of the team; 5. Obviously the referees make bad calls; 6. Demographics; recruiting; too far to the coast; 7. Money; and the administration; Corso; DiNardo; Wilson; & etc.; Sammy Terry; 8. Turnovers, play calling; the OL; the DL; backs; strategy; too much emphasis on defense; the weather; deflated balls; cheating; the turf; the uniforms; lack of talent; too few 4 and 5*s; lack of discipline; lack of speed; LEO +/-; the cheerleaders; the band; the stadium; soccer; basketball; golf; swimming and diving; cross country and track; drugs; culture; video games; 9. It's the NCAA; the B1G; POTFB; 10. The Little 500 and tailgating; Brown County; Indianoplace; something else that I forgot; 11. Michael Penix Jr.; 12. Football is just too complicated. Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy Because I'm easy come, easy go, little high, little low Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me 13. It's Indiana! -

IU gains over 5 yards on the two punts. Maybe think about punting on first downs. -

All-Time IU “If They Hadn’t Been Hurt” Team
Dave from Dayton replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yogi Ferrell may just have been the best PG at Indiana since Isiah 'Zeke' Thomas. Another record setter...so he just may not qualify. However, he got his bell rung at least twice and other injuries...his back and his thumb. I noticed that he was a step slower in his junior and senior years as compared to his freshman and sophomore years. Just didn't quite have the edge that would have made such a difference. Frustrating to fans and to Yogi...no doubt. Don't get this wrong. I thought he was great. Just off enough in performance that it was noticeable. Why? Was it the team? I really thought it was the noggin got hurt repeatedly. It just may well have been his back. Well, and he was short. And the team..and Tom Crean...jeez, it was stacked against Yogi...opponents really did slam him. Big Ten is a grind...each and every game...for Yogi...4 years of taking punishment. Too mas? -

I do not have any Fs left to GAF about the whole state of Kentucky. Well, the natural bridges in the Red River Gorge area are superb. And the limestone caves are a great way to cool off in summer...except that they seem to swallow old car museums. One has to give them credit for the State Park named Bone Lick. And the Jefferson Davis birthplace obelisk that is taller than the Washington Monument. And those large lakes do seem to prove that the best thing to do with most of Kentucky is to flood it. Oh, yeah, bourbon...there is that. My family lived in Paintsville KY for a short spell way back when I was learning to walk. My father worked for Ashland Oil as an engineer and my mother had a BS in Accounting from Pitt in the late '40's. She was reluctant to tell anyone at the time in eastern KY. That just did not happen...to hill people. To teach in elementary schools, one did not need to have graduated from high school. We moved immediately. In perspective...to earn a college degree in accounting back them is and was quite an accomplishment for a woman at the time. Quite unusual. Does FedEx still botch delivery of bags of cash to recruits? No? Didn't think so. They made the bags indestructible. How many national championship titles has UK had taken away after the 'fact'? Too numerous to count (TNTC). I kind of appreciate Dook...because they beat UK like a rug. Remembering the Wat Shot makes me smile.

If you say so. Since I don't tweet...I did not see the alleged re-tweet that you say has: 10 more days. I saw the sign that had 10 on it. Did not understand at the time what the context for that number 10 was referencing. -
(2024) - Liam McNeeley to UConn

I'm going to ask some questions about predictions and projections by basketball recruiting rumor sites. ITH has posted on 10/2 that Rivals has McNeeley and Fland going to IU at 100%. And Crystal Ball has Queen going to Maryland at 100%. I do see that the two 'sports writers' for Crystal Ball are affiliated with reporting Maryland sports. So I tend to take that into account but do not throw out Crystal Ball's predictions on Queen. Ant Wright: "Mike Woodson, I'm impressed". Woody's east coast connections may just make a real difference with Fland and his fam. How come Rivals picks IU for McNeeley and Fland? Why do they exclude Queen? It is noted that McNeeley has been reported making his decision and announcing within 2 weeks. I have to tip my toupee to the IU basketball coaching staff having reportedly pulled out all stops in this recruitment. Well done. Also to Btown Banners, Class of '66 Old Fart and Stuhoo and Demo and all of you IU fans...thanks for bringing basketball at IU 24/7, 365. It is greatly appreciated. I really do want IU to get Fland. Going up against pUKy would be a challenge. Seems that Woody and his staff are equal to it. I think Woody has overcome his learning curve. Just win, baby! -
