Some are wondering why this board has so many posts about Brad Stevens and not others. Well, before this last few days, there was a lot of discussion about others. Those discussions are generally still appropriate and valid. What is interesting is that many of those other prospective hires are still coaching and should be at this spot in the season. Hopefully, many of them will be coaching post season too. That puts any real discussion with them or announcement about them out into the future, possibly by 6 weeks. That is not true about Brad Stevens. Even if there is only a 2% chance of his coming to IU. He is the biggest target available today. Who should we be talking about that is available? Tom Crean? Dickie V.? Dan D (throws up)? So listen and respond with empathy. This site is for entertainment (sports) and this discussion is a way to keep connected. If you don't like what we are discussing, then there are ways to divert attention. Bring something sparkly to the site and let us chase that rabbit down some hole somewhere else. I am also tired of discussing Brad Stevens. Put the hook in him or cut the line already. But I will linger here and add my snark and stupidity along with a lot of others because what are we supposed to do? Cheer the team into winning the NCAAT? Hope Woody pulls a trophy banner out of a hat? Have you heard? Archie Miller's little brother is interested in being an assistant coach and is dating Brad Stevens' distant cousin. And Mike Davis is looking for a new gig. And, you are not going to believe this...

So this alleged Dolson comments were reported by Trilly? Trilly is knows as a mixed bag of something or other. Kind of throws stuff out...sometime it seems just to get clicks? Some say that Trilly always has a source and usually is right. I don't think an unverified rumor has legs. It is plausible, though. I am not giving it any weight until Kathy with a C or Barrel Rick says so.

It takes all three: Great Coach; athletes; and those basketball players that have drilled fundamentals, understand team play, and are willing to put in the work to do the things winners do. Right now we are looking at the coach. We need a winner. Let's look at Coach Cignetti. A winner. Did he have world-class athletes at his previous gig. No. Did he have world-class athletes at IU this year? Arguably no. Some really good receivers...the line was pushed around by OSU.... Will he get world-class athletes...maybe. Sure, basketball is different. Fewer players make it to the court and impact the game. And players like XJ and GC are not going to take IU to the next level. We need glue guys along with the athletes. Sure hope those athletes know enough to not dribble when defended by 3. Yeah, they need quick feet, and smart heads.

UCLA 75 Indiana 78 It comes down to UCLA on the road east...they do not do that well. And IU has learned how to win.

Here it is folk. Which do you want? Better athletes or better basketball players. Reminds me of the RMK platitude: Mental over physical as 3 to 1. But that is not where I am. I want a coach that understands Xs and Os and can get the best out of matchups. And one that is a winner at IU. Not fun to watch, huh? Yeah, I guess defense is not fun to watch. Nor is sharing the ball and passing./s I want winners. Bob Knight's teams must have been not fun to watch. Could have fooled me and I was there when they went undefeated. They refused to lose. Not fun to watch. We need a coach that is a winner. It would be really nice if that coach did not have a lot of, uhm, issues that would possibly hurt the school's image...funding...and scare off recruits. Would be nice if that coach would be able to change and adjust depending on the team makeup and the opponents.

I had a couple of video games that were the Star Wars flying challenges way back on my old Packard Bell 486. Lots of fun.

And they took out your first set of government issue uniforms & etc out of that. Then came back to IU. Earned a BS in Business/Finance and found and married my college sweetheart. We moved to Madison WI. After working for a while, I earned a Civil and Environmental Engineering degree...still was receiving significant GI Bill for college. And got our first house using the Government backed loan requiring no money down. I qualified. Unfortunately, service members today do not quite get the benefits that veterans got. I enlisted. Made E5. Petty Officer 2nd Class, YN2(ss).
