Someone sprinkle some pixie dust on IU. We need the AH magic, now.

IU looks gassed. Fouls tilted to jhawks. Defense is starting to lag. ugh

The inconsistent refs' calls are almost laughable...but not quite.

Impressive passing and assists by the Jayhawks. Decent rebounding and defense by IU. IU needs to hit free throws. Get Ware some help. Talk to the refs, Woody. Phantom foul calling sux bigly.

Dickinson's moving screens are driving IU nuts at the top of the key.

Collectively holding our breaths and messaging. We need to hit a few buckets and frees! Stop Jayhawks assists. Our rebounds on offense are good.

    IUBB vs #2 Kansas - Saturday, 12.16.23 @ 12:30 on CBS

Please give me a good reason to change my prediction from a 20 point loss to a 3 point win. One that makes sense from a perspective of matchups, coaching style etc. Not one because you want to better me in the Prediction Thread... Is X playing or suited up? Is IU going defend well against the quick passes and assists of Kansas' offense? Is IU going to be successful with our bread and butter..going inside? Is Gabe Cupps going to be able to hold his own against seasoned PGs? Is IU going to get to the line often seeing as how that would not be typical for Kansas? Rebounding and turnovers and well...

So when Hunter Dickinson holds Ware and is not whistled for the foul...and when Hunter Dickinson climbs on Ware and is not whistled for a foul...and Coach Woodson does not go toe to toe with the refs in order to stop that stuff from happening...and then Ware gets whistled for being elbowed in the face and starts backing down. IU then stops scoring in the paint...and Coach Woodson substitutes in 4 players except for Galloway who is not scoring and leaves them in for 8 minutes...and IU gets behind by 12 in the first half...and my wife says things that she shouldn't... I have a question about in-game coaching...wait...I'm thinking that I had one...ah...never mind. I am not worried that LCS is going to be correct...not worried...at all. Assembly Hall magic? Yeah, that's the ticket. I am usually a cup is half full person. But...
  12. Say it isn't so, Bruce. USA Today Claims Auburn Basketball Used Video Cameras to Spy on Opponent Practices - Sports Illustrated Auburn Tigers News, Analysis and More Shocked, not shocked. Sad. We should use this excuse for 2023. I mean, how would Auburn have any idea that Ware backs away when clobbered and refs swallow their whistle? And how the heck would Auburn know that Xavier was hurt and a freshman guard was going to start? Furthermore, one cannot believe that a crystal ball was used to predict that IU only went inside. And lo and behold, one must just believe that Auburn got lucky that IU would not defend the 3. They had to be peeking at our practices in order to divine our intentions. That or someone gave them our playbook. Sheesh... Most rational persons would likely perceive that this is a parody. But, then again, most rational persons do not read self-flagellating threads one week after being hammered. Speaking of getting hammered...where did I put that shaker of salt?

    Comedic Relief/Joke Thread

Can they shoot that rock? Too much dribbling is not good. They probably can outrun the Tigers. Has IU extended an offer to these guys yet? They might just go for our Nike gear...What?

    George McGinnis (1950-2023)

It is not publicly reported that George McGinnis has passed away at age of 73 on Monday, December 11, 2023. He had called in to 911 on Saturday and was placed on life support for three days. George McGinnis Death: American Former Professional Basketball Player Died At 73 (uptospeedjournalism.com) I have seen sketchy reports, but nothing has come out formally from the next of kin. So, until otherwise informed by the next of kin or the appropriate official, this should be considered unconfirmed.

    George McGinnis (1950-2023)

I remember big George at IU playing in with Joby Wright and Steve Downing. In the 1970–71 season at Indiana, McGinnis became the first sophomore to lead the Big Ten in scoring and rebounding. He averaged 29.9 points per game in his lone season in Bloomington earning All-American and All-Big Ten Honors in 1971. He played for coach Lou Watson, the year before IU hired Bob Knight. That front line was un-freakin'-believeable!
  16. I do not know if Coach Woodson is stubborn. He could have an agenda that most posters do not see. Not saying he does...for how would I know? I think that he could be trying to get the 2nd teamers to really blossom. It has worked for Mac Mgbako. As to Galloway, I do not understand how his skills have not been taken advantage of. Run plays for him. Maybe he wants it too much. I do not blame Coach for sticking with him. There are things about recruiting, too. Some of the Coach's strategy might just be longer term thinking than just this game. Is he recruiting correctly by giving ten or eleven players ample time to show their stuff. If I was recruited by Coach Woodson, and he said it was likely that I would get 2nd string action, then the fact that I could show my stuff during prime time for long stretches might just be the ticket. Still too early to give a verdict on the team and the coach. Regardless, it is way too early to say that the loss to Auburn and the loss to CT were anything more than... Well, they were pretty horrible, weren't they?
  17. Yeah, I meant to put that this coming weekend they might just lose to #2 Kansas. I still do not think that the signs say they won't make the NCAAT. Right now, probably not. But right now is not the criteria. I think they will learn to win. I thought that the Auburn game would be a tell. But, Ware got hammered relentlessly and backed down. IU got sloppy. Gave up on defense. And that platooning did not help. Why Coach Woodson let that go I haven't a clue. But, because of the last 9 games...does not to me indicate that they are out of the NCAAT. Too much is yet to be written.
  18. They are 2 - 0 in the Big Ten. They are 7 - 2 overall. Lost to #5 and might lose to #2. I would say that the jury is still out. They have grown by leaps and bounds. They still have a long road in front of them. Why they stopped defending and Ware was backing down from their bigs is going to take a lot of scrutiny. Hopefully, we will learn a lot from this terrible beating. Right now, I contend that they are on the cusp of getting in to the NCAAT. They have shown promise. But playing last night with some swallowing of whistles at critical times in the first half...and that platooning crap...gotta learn how to play through it or change it. That is on Coach Woodson and his staff. If Woodson won't throw that chair, then I may have to. The Kansas game at home will be a much better showing. But not a win.
  19. Kansucky 90 University of Indiana 70 What can I say? Watch me switch to an Indiana win at the last hour...

    Music Thread

I was listening to Guitar Slim and his "Things That I Used To Do" and enjoying that. It has been covered by too numerous to count blues guitarists...Black Music Sunday: Remembering Guitar Slim and the things he used to do (dailykos.com) And listed was Stevie Ray Vaughan...and this came up again. An out of your chair performance!! (9) SRV - The Things That I Used To Do (Lorelei, Germany '84) - YouTube I cannot believe that the video cut away from SRV's smoking, unreal, mind bending, screaming Stratocaster solo. After the Auburn beat down...I've got the blues, but I feel good. Those things he used to do...OMG! And still is... The things that I used to do, Lord, I won't do no more The things that I used to do, Lord, I won't do no more I used to sit and hold your hand darlin', cry, baby do not go I used to search all night for you darlin' Lord, and my search would always end in vain I used to search all night for you darlin' Lord, and my search would always end in vain But I knew all the time darlin', that you was hid out wit' your other man I'm goin' to send you back to your mama darlin' Lord, and I'm goin' back to my family too I'm goin' to send you back to your mama darlin' Lord, and I'm goin' back to my family too Nothin' I can do to please ya' darlin', ah I just can't get along with you
