#5 IUFB @ #2 Ohio State - 11/23/24 at Noon on FOX

I understand why one would think that getting stuck in a cave might be scary. Believe it or not...when we did that crawl from the two-level part of the cave and through the really tight and small tube, we had deflated innertubes slung on our shoulders and that got me stuck. We planned to get to the underground river and inflate them and float to the sink that went up...Coglazers (now the entrance to the tourist boat float in the cave). It was anticipated that we might get hung up. Had my helmet off and pushed it in front of my skimmy. Couldn't lower my arms. Just pushed with wrists, feet back the way I came. Took off the tube. Redid it. The worst was the subway closing. I'm communicating through the door to stay there. My better half kicked the door. It opened. Grabbed the youngin. Holy creapola. PS. The doctor and I are really good buddies. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Not. -

I haven't been this nervous since: A) I popped the question; B) the doctor put those gloves on and smiled at me; C) we approached test depth after overhaul in the submarine; D) I got stuck crawling through a tight spot in Blue Springs Cave; E) My fifteen-year old daughter was outside the subway doors when they closed in Paris. Actually, I'm not nervous at all. My nerves are shot. -
Now we do know that the B1G referees and the conference would not tilt the playing field or rules to favor a brand name like Ohio State, again. I would not bet your money on this game for that one reason. Another reason is that the ball bounces and stuff happens. I would rather spend my money on a really decent bourbon. And will be thrilled when IU wins this game against the nuts.

Agreed. Really surprised that my friend pointed to the size of the stadium and the fans yelling as a deciding factor. Usually he emphasizes speed, experience, depth, efficiencies, coaching, etc. One could interpret his message as being dismissive or not taking IU seriously. Kind of makes me think that my friend is not all that...ahem...smart. Well, in my defense, I did realize that years ago. After all...he is an OSU fan. I know how to really piss him off. I'll offer our usual bet...a beer. But I will offer him some points. He will snap it up. But, he may never forgive me for the dig.

A good friend of mine is a huge Ohio State fan. He just retired from some middle school and high school coaching and assistant coaching. We always discuss IU and OSU major sports. He is still a fan of RMK. He really liked our selection of Cignetti. Says that Cig is a big winner. He posted to me in our latest: "THE game. You can make your prediction, but keep in mind IU plays in front of 53,000…Ohio stadium will seat 105,000. A lot of your guys will be in awe of the sheer size of the fan base. I’m sure they will perform well but not Saturday. If it does, it does, but I don’t think so. " That's what they plan on? Fans winning the game?! If we protect Rourke and play well on both the OL and DL... IU is going to take OSU down.

I agree. But now that we are hitting 3s...seems that opens the door for more of that kind. And the pressure definitely was off of the inside game because the other 3 were picking up the scoring. Very cool...a lot of opportunities available. A lot more. -
Sad to hear that bandleader, composer and saxophonist Lou Donaldson has passed. 'Known as “Sweet Poppa Lou” Donaldson was the final surviving member of the original Art Blakey quintet that in 1954 introduced “hard bop” into the growing jazz lineage of classification. He also stands as a pioneer of soul jazz, helping to shape the genre by merging bebop with blues, gospel, and R&B elements. Known for his rich, soulful tone and groove-oriented sound, Donaldson made jazz more accessible and danceable, paving the way for the soulful, funky styles that followed. His innovative approach, particularly on albums like Alligator Bogaloo and Blues Walk..." Also, Roy Hanes has passed. Listening to both right now. SC was a 6 seed in the NCAAT last year. Their coach is the SEC COTY. They lost 2 very good players. Reloaded. And may be a tourney team. Watch them get over 20 wins and get an invite...maybe. We beat a possible tourney team. The only reason they hung somewhat with IU is they started hitting 3s. Well so did we. And our defense and offense suffered somewhat when two guards were substituted or Mgbako was out, once at the same time as Ballo. Oh, no, they are not perfect and stomping all comers 3 games into the new season. Shocked, not shocked. Happy, quite happy. -

IU doubled SC's rebounds in the first half. Scored 14 points in a row. Hit 3's and frees. Miles Rice got IU going early...a tip of the ole toupee to him. SC, on the other hand, had their leading scorer knocked out early due to foul trouble. Once IU closed out their 3's and paid attention, it was IU's game. You could tell by Coach Woody's stare whether they were doing well. Heh.../s IU controlled the game when Ballo looked serious and Mgbako was flying. 5 guys in double figures...and our defense is lots better when they want to be. I love good guards and IU has them...at long last. And who could not love Carlyle's half-court Alley-Oops-a-three! And they wanted to be defending when it counted. Beat the spread by 10 points. -
The journey is the thing. I like trying different coffees. Just not ones that cost $4 and up for a cup. I misspoke in my previous post. I do not perc. I use a drip. Your Nic Rio Coco looks interesting. I will look into Happy Mug again. Bought three from them: Renegade Guatemala; Lively Mexico; and Bear Blend. I have liked Guatemala brews. I just looked at Happy Mug again. I do not see Nic Rio Coco offered. Was it a special offering? Walnut and coco...just my style. I will be visiting your place at sunup. Bringing some coffee cake.

IU's OL will protect Rourke. IU's DBs and cornerbacks will not back off as much against the pass. Mess with their QB...game is IU's to win. OSU does not have what it takes to be the best of the best. We are in it to win it. (I hope.)

My taste in coffee is changing. I just cannot get happy with all that I have tried in the past year. I've tried roasters nearby, Tampa, PA, WY, Happy Mug, Red Bird, Java Planet, Nuts (should have known better about the latter). I'm back to Fresh Roasted Coffee out of Sunbury PA. Just ordered a sampling of 5 medium and one medium dark roasted coffees. Organic Columbian Dark Brazil Cerrado Their FRC Medium Blend Sumatran Mandheling Something called Tiger Nebula single origin blend Blackbeard's Revenge Right now I'm working on breakfast blend from Java Planet. I lean towards chocolate, caramel, no berry or citrus...medium to medium dark full bodied. Maybe I should start doctoring it with maple syrup or ice cream...(bourbon?). Only drink it in the morning, maybe 3 cups. I grind my own and use a perc. My son-in-law does a pour over. We've tried it. Meh. They also do their auto roaster morning perc WTF robotics. That's better. But I squeek when I buy almost anything except beach vacations and IU basketball tickets. Obi Wan Stuhoo & HH...you're my only hope.

What is your coffee? Do you grind? Pour over? Taste notes? Single source? Blend? Just the facts... I keep switching roasters.

Is Reneau ok? Otherwise, why sitting at the end? Best play was Carlyle's alley-3. -

Better effort in this game. At times, though, they do lose concentration. Especially when Mgbako is on the bench. -
