Do you mean that IU just got an experienced college basketball coach that is a winner? Kind of similar resume to that of Coach Cignetti? Yee Haw! Go IU!

    Bracketology and Team Resumes

Yeah. Noticed that. Mixed results on both offense and defense. Trying to get some rebounds. Ballo got his. Some got away from him. Actually, thought there were a few minutes in the middle of the 2nd half against Washington...IU momentum dropped and we lost six points, maybe 8 point run by Washington. Thought that started with our two bigs in the middle for 3 minutes or so. I'm probably misremembering. Last night, too many long rebounds went to Oregon. The fouling was because Oregon was quicker and we were desperate to stop them. I was surprised the whole game...thought Oregon would break it open the whole time. The end game was...uh...not good. And who gives the propaganda about Woody to the announcers? Woody's stare has improved in four years.

Yes. Quite the drama for a war flick. Studied groundwater flow and water engineering way back in a previous life. It is somewhat unusual for a dam to crack like the picture posted earlier. More typical is that water saturation and or flowage would make the base unstable. Think quicksand. That or erosion though piping where animals burrowed, or tree roots rotted. Bigger dams are generally attached to bedrock if available. Otherwise a long series of steel sheet pile is driven way beyond the structure to cut off any possible threat to seepage. Just like in Force 10...a little can become a lot. That was cool. I always think about nuclear power plants that are sited near the Cascades in Oregon. What ever happened to Mount St. Helen? Or the nuclear plant that was sited in Japan in an area that can be flooded. Come on now. Dayton has a history of some huge earthen dams for stormwater control. The chief engineer from Dayton's Miami Conservancy District became the first chief engineer of the TVA. I got a job offer as a Civil Engineer for the Army Corp of Engineers. Turned them down. Their HQ is in Mobile Alabama. My wife said no way, Jose. I tossed a coin and lost. Turned the job down. Neutered at an early age. Starting a Go Fund Me page for sad sacks. I introduce her as my first wife. Still do....still is after 47 years. My list of coach prospects: Not Woodson; not Archie; not DD; maybe Cig's twin brother...a winner.

    College Bball Thread

Sorry. I have no insight to Archie Miller's performance at URI that can't easily be found online. It was hell while he was at Indiana. I have no appetite to follow his coaching anymore. Having said that, I wish him well. I do perk up when Rhode Island plays Dayton. 5 days ago, they played out east. Rhode Island jumped to a 10 point lead and was flying to the hoop...hitting 2s. Dayton went to a zone and later changed that but Rhode Island got behind by 20 at home. RI could not hit and turned the ball over. Let's say that he has been rebuilding at Rhode Island. But this is his 3rd year. Rhode Island Rams (Atlantic 10 Conference) (2022–present) 2022–23 Rhode Island 9–22 5–13 14th 2023–24 Rhode Island 12–20 6–12 T–10th 2024–25 Rhode Island 17–11 6–10 Rhode Island: 38–53 (.418) 17–35 (.327) Rhode Island is doing better this year in non-conference and at home. But on the road they are a disaster. Seems that they are a touch better every year. But, of course, fans want more wins. And they want to sniff the NCAAT. His teams are struggling and just can't make it into the top half of the conference. This is Miller's 3rd year at Rhode Island. They don't get any big wins against the top teams. They also need road wins in conference and only have one. Rhode Island only has a couple of good players. Same thing will happen next year unless they can bring in a PG from the portal while keeping the core players. From the outside, looks like Miller's on court game coaching is failing, again. He will have one more year there... The only real litmus I have is in watching Dayton vs Rhode Island. Dayton has better players and is better coached. But is it because Rhode Island doesn't have the horses? Or is it the coach? Archie Miller really does rely on good guards to defend and put the ball into the offense. I have not seen him with a good PG in 7 years. Fans realize that getting players is hard. But they did expect the teams to be exceptionally well coached. That is not happening. A lifetime ago, I lived in eastern Connecticut...Groton. Was assigned to submarine service on a fast attack. We would regularly hit some really splendid restaurants overlooking the beaches. Visited Cape Cod. And the history in that area is incredible. The sea casts a spell over everything. Until you have to live in it.

I watched his Wright State teams here in Dayton. Just 5 miles from my house in the missed approach to WPAFB. Pass on Brownell. Now, Archie Miller was great. Obviously, stuff like that does not translate into the BIG TIME. And I questioned Archie's hire...but was hopeful I did not question Tom Crean's hire...I was against it. I did not understand Woodson's hire. Mike Davis was so wrong. Sampson was interesting. But IU blew it by not providing oversight. And Sampson could not put the cell phone down. Sad. Indiana had to really try to skewer IU men's basketball brand. They should be proud. Herbert, your actions are still perceived as not in the interests of Indiana University. Who will be the next body that we can burn in effigy?

I am a skeptic. Show me....who will definitely ink a contract. Until then I have a question: There was a fun sports bar in Fort Myers Beach named Hoosiers in Paradise. Do you have knowledge of that? Any connections? Saw some games there. Fun memories. Walls were like Nick's upstairs. Lots of B1G fans attended viewing the games. Not just Hoosiers in paradise.
