True. The OP did not say that. He said something like: "...read between the lines..." about conditioning. Clearly teaching how to win; practicing how to win; doing the work necessary to win are vital. Crean is a very hard worker. He is smart too. But he oversells everything. And he misses the most important things to get good execution on the court during games. Sometimes one has to try to get the best out of certain matchups. Keep it simple. And working harder does not mean working smarter. A lot goes on in the months leading up to the season. And one has to look at stamina and focus in the last 24 hours before a game. Just wish he would focus on the basics rather than playing 5th-dimensional chess and promising to attain all of the universes. These are college students. They do not need 400 sets. He is a decent broadcast analyst. Sometimes, he recruits well but mostly does not put the right pieces together. Just not a great coach.

I just read that one poster was talking down about sunshine pumpers. It's not their fault that IU is not that good a team. It's not their fault that they do yearn for Woodson to learn to be a good coach and implements it satisfactorily. It is not their fault that IU doesn't fire Woodson. Or hired him in the first place. Almost everyone here wants IU to succeed in basketball. Jeez.

I am going to watch this game. I am going to cheer for Indiana to win big. They won't win big. Please spell it out for me. I see nothing between Crean's ears or his conditioning comment. To me, it is all about the players not performing...and it is not conditioning. It seems mental. Or the lack of execution. But more probably, it is the lack of the coaches in preparing and motivating and putting the team in position to win. What do you think that Crean means? He tries to sell that he knows more than he does. Actually, never mind. I do not give a small f... what Crean thinks or says about Indiana or almost any other subject.

Interesting question. I do not know the answer to that. I remember, hopefully clearly, that fans were saying that inquiries were made. Mark Few was not interested. If that was the case, it is likely that our consultants made the 2nd-person contact to Few's contact/representative. So, likely that Dolson and Few never really talked directly about it. Not unusual, this my people talked to your people stuff. That way no one has to say they did or did not talk to the other party. Usually, the head guy does know the feelers go out...and the results.

I do not know who would be likely candidates. But, like they evidently did for the football coach search, I hope and expect that the Athletic Department is going to do some lists with head coaching attributes and requirements: 1. Basketball IQ; 2. Positive Energy; 3. Communication; 4. Involvement; 5. Development; 6. Organization; 7. Experience; 8. Observant; 9. Respectful; 10. Trustworthy.

If I remember correctly, Crean overworked his players and they were pooped in certain games. It was not a condition issue. He ran them full tilt even before games. He thought that hard and long work and running faster and deflections were tops. (To me, it was talent and speed over putting the players into position to take advantage of the other team.) Other than that, Crean is all mouth...that is his strength. IU's problems are not conditioning. They are mental. They are effort. They do not know how to win....or just don't try to play like smart basketball teammates. Where are the double screens? Blockouts? 3's? Why is Ballo way out trying to defend? Why not try to protect the ball, guards? Defensive rebounds? Coaches? Mental over physical...3:1.

Their coach is 6.5 and in his 30's, has other college-level experience...B-town's coach is not in his 30's and ...never mind. Woodson....stares/glares...fading...gone.

Quit with the negativity. The sky would never fall on Indiana Basketball. And it wouldn't happen at Assembly Hall. This is a hallowed program. Just look at our history the last 20 years. What? Oh. Disassembly Hall?

Having our PG blown up by Chucky's defense...is what one gets when not playing good teams early in the pre-conference season. They all think that they can mail it in and win. The Coach does not know what he is doing. They are unprepared to play any team ranked above 75. Or any team that plays defense... Any team ranked below 75, the Indiana team won't put in the effort for the majority of the game.
