Koby Brea perspective...scroll down in the link below...he is ranked #2: Following the Leaderboard | The Prospect Overview (noceilingsnba.com) He is a small guy and might need work on defense...per the above link Wonder why he only scored 11 ppg in 29 mpg? Note that he won the A-10 6th man award for the 2nd time. Brea won the award 11 months after having rods inserted in both tibias to fix stress fracture issues he played with throughout the 2022-23 season. He overcome those surgeries to average a career-best 11.0. Dayton basketball: Koby Brea named Atlantic 10 Conference Sixth Man of the Year for second time (daytondailynews.com)

I'll drink to that. The worst thing about some people is that when they are not drunk, they are sober. I went on a diet, swore off drinking and heavy eating, and in fourteen days I had lost exactly two weeks. I like Cupps. But mugs hold a pint a lot easier. Cupps just isn't big enough. Plus one can only get a few shots out of Cupps. I like Galloway. But we need excellent guards or more whiskey. Later today, I will give a toast to Coach Ya. OK. Maybe this morning. I have a mixed feeling about getting Ballo. The mixed feeling is an Old Fashioned made with bourbon. One year of eligibility and how will Reneau feel about that. Enough to send me off the wagon, again. I went to an AA meeting. I asked about travel advice. They said that was a question for AAA. It was worth a shot. A couple of weeks ago, got back from vacation visiting family in S. Diego, Palm Springs, Lake Havasu & Las Vegas. So many breweries...so little time. Saw a strange atmospheric (?) event early one evening in Palm Springs. Huge, vaporous glow and trail streaking across the sky. It was a Falcon 9 rocket. Almost swore off drinking. If ever near Balboa Park in San Diego...check out the Mothership Bar.

To date, 7 of the top 30 players in the portal have signed to new schools. Players don't face a firm deadline on when they must commit. Additionally, graduate transfers and players impacted by coaching changes that occur after May 1 will be able to transfer after the deadline. Players who have also entered the NBA Draft will have until 11:59 p.m. Eastern on May 29 to withdraw if they wish to return to college for the 2024-25 season. I speculate that if I was in the portal, and in the top 30, I would be looking around for a good fit. No hurry at this juncture. A month from now I might just buy season tickets to the IU women's basketball. Or UD...or Wright State... definitely not OSU. Actually, looking forward to live bands outside in warm weather and fresh air.

I would get on your smart phone app and check travel times and alternate routes. We go from Dayton OH south on I-75 and 19 times out of 20 it is best to just go straight through Cincy to get to 75 southbound. There has been and will be construction on 75. One would think that it would be finished. But that is NEVER THE CASE. Saturdays are not bad except for the way northern migration southbound in spring. Just check before you arrive in that section. Sorry I can't be more precise. Heck, we even go straight through Atlanta rather than go around. Just not hit it during rush hours during the week.

It's the age-old issue. No coach has really had the players with the right skill set to employ in his scheme. RMK, at the end, did not get his smart, team-oriented, ball players...until the Jeffries team which was too late. Crean did not get the Dwayne pro or greyhound wing players. But he did not realize that. Archie didn't get his stellar guard that he needed. That and long-limbed defensive oriented team players. Woody has not gotten his outside-oriented ballers that can create and handle the ball. Where is that PG and SG and Sf? It is tough to coach a team that doesn't fit.

He and other football players were in my speech class in 1969. A fun guy to know back then. And a joy to cheer for at IU during games. Football letterman in 1967, 1968 and 1969...first team All-Big Ten in 1968 and 1969, and All-American in 1969...one of the greatest receivers in IU history...held Indiana records for passes received (119) and reception yardage (1,919), touchdowns (30) and points (180) at end of his career...also held IU season records for touchdowns (10, all three years)...set Big Ten record with 30 career touchdown catches...member of IU's 1967 Big Ten Co-Championship and Rose Bowl team. I get no respect... Told my wife I wanted to spice things up in the bedroom. She suggested a game called "sexy librarian." It's where I sit quietly at the end of the bed while she reads a book. Wife just yelled from upstairs: "Do you ever get a shooting pain across your body like someone has a voodoo doll of you and they're stabbing it?" I replied, "No." Then she said, "How about now?" She told her friends: Never wake a sleeping baby. Unless, that baby is the guy you married. People give a lot of relationship advice. You know mine? Two full bathrooms. You're welcome. I was thinking of starting a cooking competition show but all the chef's spouses are there to keep standing in front of whatever drawer or cabinet they need to get into. Marriage is between two people: One person who is on the verge of sleep and one person who is asking if the front door is locked. I asked her: Woman, are you a newspaper? Wife: No, why? Me: Because you've got a new issue every day. That's an ugly looking hat...but, it looks good on you! (RD in Caddyshack).

  16. The dimness should become more noticeable about 15 minutes before the eclipse reaches totality. To many people, the light takes on a metallic or silvery quality. There is more to this event than the moon blocking the sun in the sky. Are you ready for The Purkinje Effect? Red and green colors will look strange when the light dims. That is because our eyes and brain adjust to and interpret that change. "As light dims, our eyes transition from photopic vision, associated with the retina's cone cells that deliver full colors and fine detail, toward scotopic night vision that relies on rod cells to detect objects in low light. In the middle is mesopic vision, the transitional phase where both rods and cones are active. When the light's intensity dims in the eclipse, colors with longer wavelengths, like red, will look darker as cones become less active. But because rods are sensitive to the shorter blue-green wavelengths, those colors will have a chance to shine." The dimness should become more noticeable about 15 minutes before the eclipse reaches totality. To many people, the light takes on a metallic or silvery quality. Some shadows will sharpen; others will alter. For one thing, your own shadow will be different. "The change in lighting makes shadows look sharper on the ground, so it's possible to see individual hairs on your head in your shadow," according to the European Space Agency." "And if you see the sun's light coming through tight gaps in trees, you might notice lots of little crescents. As the ESA says, "The tiny gaps in the leaves will act like multiple pinhole cameras, projecting the Sun's image to the ground." People in the eclipse's path can also see an odd shimmering called shadow bands. "A minute or two before totality, ripples of light may flow across the ground and walls as Earth's turbulent atmosphere refracts the last rays of sunlight," as the EarthSky website said in 2017. "No one was anywhere near this upset until...this year" Yeah? NO!! Realizing that the above referenced post is talking about mainly this year as opposed to recent years... I was upset when Scott May was injured and... I was upset way back when Cleveland State upset IU in the NCAAT and they were posited as cheaters. I was upset when TV Teddy... I was upset when RMK lost more than normal way back in the '90's. I was upset when Landon Turner got seriously injured. I was upset when RMK held out his starters because they weren't trying and then I realized that he was right. I was upset when I could not get Channel 4 up in Wisconsin and later when living in Dayton with a family I could not watch IU's team, especially with Calbert Cheaney lighting it up. I was upset when RMK took Connie Chung's bait and got trashed in the media for saying: "Just lay back and enjoy it." I was upset when RMK could not control himself and fell on his own sword and the IU administration put him on double-not-secret probation. IU men's basketball got thrown under the bus by all concerned. I was upset when the players picked Mike Davis as HC. Nice guy. Not qualified. I was upset when Oden and Conley went to OSU. I was upset when 'He Who Should Not Be Named' came on board. Because he was on probation. And to top it off, IU did not monitor his phone calls and compliance early and often. The IU went and threw themselves under the bus again. I was not upset by Dan D. (And everyone knows that he triggers us intentionally just to get clicks.) I was upset that the administration let those players get out of control. IU really went under the bus... By this time, IU was punked with respect to getting good, experienced, winning head coaches. IU never would cough up enough and plan and execute the plan to have a winning program at IU. And I was upset. I researched Tom Crean at Marquette and was upset when IU offered him. He could sell a car when none was needed. And he was probably on his way out at Marquette because of hype and flakiness with a couple of recruits. I was upset when Tc was on the outs with Indiana HS coaches and offered anyone who was in the top 400*s. I was upset when both my brothers went to Purdue. My father was a registered professional engineer...from Pitt. I visited Purdue and stayed overnight in Cary Quad...it felt like a week. Barf and gag...very upsetting place. I was upset when the NCAA did not control cheating. Then I realized that the NCAA is run by the universities that cheat. And then I looked around in the big world and said...time to stop being upset by what I cannot control. My focus changed. And it has nothing to do with mediocracy. It has everything to do with ultimate power corrupts ultimately. It is the difference in philosophies between Nietzsche and Sartre. While I am very interested IU men's basketball team and program...I am more focused on what I can do to affect my perspective or attitude on things. I guess that I am not upset by Purdue's current success. If they win the National Championship, I will not be upset. They will...ahem...choke...deserve it. Doesn't mean that I am cheering for them. In fact, I just want an interesting game. I want to see good defense in the middle against Purdue's Lurch and against the shooters. Regardless...POTFB. I am through being upset by IU botching, punking, and ruining the men's basketball program. It is someone else's turn to be upset by all of this. I still support Coach Woodson as long as he is coach. (Even though I doubt seriously that he will get in place a program and team that will compete favorably with the best. And I believe that he may have been the wrong thing at IU for HC.) Furthermore, there are apparently better coaches available so why not jump? I just do not see him leaving within a year. And that in itself is very controversial. (As an aside, there isn't a single coach or any administration that, from my place in the 40th row or the couch, has done everything perfectly.) Tilting against windmills is a fool's quest. If one gets upset by actions of another, then one is letting that other person into control.

Learned a lot while on vacation in Portugal last September. Learned that Port Wine actually is wine infused with significant amounts of brandy. Historically, before refrigeration, wine possibly would go bad when shipped on old sailing vessels (or Man-o-Wars). To preserve the wine, they added around 20% brandy. One does not drink port. One sips. Also learned that possibly 90% of the world's cork is harvested from trees in Portugal. Portugal got it's name from the cities/regions on both sides of the Duomo River. Originally these had the Roman-Celtic names: Portus Cale and the Vila Nova del Gaia. Shortened through time to Porto and Gaia. So ships replenished their wine and port in the excellent sheltered havens of (combine Porto/Gaia) Portugal. I bet that happened after drinking a lot of it. Back in college, after sipping Boone's Farm Strawberry Fields or Passion Pink or downing a couple of Schlitz Malt Liquor ... We tried some rose wines including Mateus. Remember those neatly shaped bottles would hold a candle and the drips were fun to watch late at night... The label had a sketch of a really interesting estate. That label and it's rose wines had become a worldwide success and icon. We toured that estate while in Portugal wine country. Casa de Mateus | Trás-os-Montes, Portugal | Attractions - Lonely Planet

    New Forum

I also really dislike seeing 'Fire Coach Woodson' first thing each day when looking on this excellent site for information about Hoosier Sports/Basketball. I then skim down quickly to see if there is anything new in the Comedy/Jokes or Music Threads. I wonder what the above post really thinks this site should do? Does it mean that the post should be buried or pinned below or actually a new site? The reaction would be that posters would just make a new thread entitled 'Fire Coach Woodson'. There really are three viable options: 1. Win 30 games each year; 2. Fire Coach Woodson; 3. Don't look for the thread entitled Fire Coach Woodson. I'm ok with Woodson if IU signs an experienced and effective PG, a SG, a SF...all that can share, defend, hit 3's and FTs. and rebound and block out and protect the ball and... And if Woodson could get the team to win 30 games per year. (Meanwhile, Reneau doesn't foul a lot, defends better, blocks out, hits frees. And IU gets a decent backup for power forward that can do it all.)

I remember clearly the '68 Rose Bowl and that '67-'68 season. RIP John I. Arrived in Bloomington for my freshman year in late '69. Had a speech class with Jade Butcher in it. Heard waaay too much about Tartan Turf, Astro Turf, sports management, and why he wanted to coach etc. But his talks were better than mine. Had season tickets to football and basketball. Protested against the Vietnam War. Practiced for the Little 500 but was injured in practice while switching riders. It was a long way from Briscoe to Swain calculus classes.
