Other than the slow start and the obvious...the zone is a winning thing. -

If nominated, I will not run; if elected, I will not serve. Buy both of us Old Fashioneds and I will buy the second round and maybe the third. -

Every time I think about IU losing most of their games...I really start to get majorly pissed. Here is looking directly at Dolson. Get with it. Make IU great. Or do you really buy in to the killing of the IU basketball brand? -

Yeah, that and Rice starting. Goode and Tucker on the sidelines. Mgbako may... Reneau with no fouls at the half because he didn't play?... Woody scowling...love it...very helpful. Wondering about flagrant fouls and home cooking not that they matter at this point. about the time that IU is down by 10 at the 5 minute mark... -

ITH provides useful info. But I have been banned forever. Told them, back when, that some of their writing was pablum for the masses. Just say the IU party line why don't you? Oh I feel really bad about it, not. -

Bob Knight did not care what you or I or Connie Chung thought about him or what he said or did. That does not excuse his boorish behavior and how that disparages women and the law and demeans the Indiana University by association. He was a great coach. And Indiana University Athletic Department let him get out of the lane on those occasions. Some would say that it is acceptable if he wins big. Others not so much. Indiana University is a public institution of higher education. The general funds relies significantly on the public through taxes and donations. It is driven by many factors and one of them is politicians that are impacted by the media and public perception. If a representative of this public institution cannot control themselves, they may be jeopardizing more than just one job. Here is now reflecting on Beard and Sampson and the older Pitino and Woody Hayes and many more. Some say yes. Hire them. But who the hell can control them when they repeatedly and publicly embarrass the institution. It means a lot of more subtle things too. It may imply that the institution is not a great place to teach or learn. It becomes a lightening rod for public officials and groups that use that instance for power or money. Connie Chung set Bob Knight up. And RMK could give a big $4i+ and did it anyway. He knew what she would do. It was not smart for him to do and galvanized those that would use that to destroy Indiana basketball as a brand. Who won that war? I blame RMK and IU. Those that don't think that it matters if a coach does stupid stuff are not appreciating institutions of the public trust. -

Holy Fist Fight, Batman! I remember Gorkjo and the vitriol. And I remember some posters were real terrorists. Like a pack of snarling dogs and ankle biters and just mean. That was on Peegs. Didn't he change from one site to Peegs back then? Oh, GO IU BB just posted it was Rivals. That is what I remember...never really frequented Peegs. Wow...that was rough. Glad I found BTB and glad it is still here doing a great job. -

Yes, I understood and understand your point. It is a good point too. I just don't really focus on the $$$ side of this issue. I have much more interest in the wins and coaching aspects. What about the players, too? -

I'm more interested in comparing Kelsey to Dusty to Ben McCollum to Archie Miller at Dayton. Money to me is not the issue. It is can this prospective coach win? And can he transition to IU and fit? And can he recruit? And can he win the boosters over? Can he tell the difference between an X and an O and ...circles back to win at this level? I mean compete for the top of the B1G almost every year and make a run deep into the final 16 with a chance at the NC periodically. Does he understand the importance of guard play and game planning? -

Game Day! Get excited! I have slept since the last game. Anything happening that is different? No? Woody coaching? Oh. Rice playing PG? Oh. 2 Bigs starting? Jeez.. Goode? Tucker? Galloway consistent? Mgbako defending? Armond Hill awake? 11% chance of an IU win on the road against a conference leader and a good coach? You mean there's hope? Obi Wan Kenobi or Brad Stevens...you're our only hope. -

Thanks for the post. Somehow it triggered my memory banks. My previous name on some sites and this: IU? I'm Fine. If you don't understand it: It is based loosely on how we talk in southern Indiana...Indyuky. Or How are you? I'm fine. My random-access memory sometimes is very random or doesn't work at all. -

For those wondering if my report of a meeting at Zionsville airport between a Stevens representative and an IU representative is straight or snark...I tried to make myself sufficiently unclear. It is not entirely non-fiction. Love those double negatives. (Spoiler alert...do not believe it entirely.) But it could have happened that way. Hope. -

My name here has always been Dave From Dayton. You can call me Dave From Dayton./s Actually, maybe I did change my name on btb years ago. Just remembered: IU? I'm Fine. Been here for over 10 years. Hung around other sites...maybe Rivals, Scout and/or HSN. Got fed up immediately after RMK firing due to a rift about true fans. Wow. Really remember one poster that loved RMK. ExPatHoosier was his name and I heard he changed it...and went poof. What site was that???? He would put on his X and O and matchup coaching analysis and explain in detail how to take advantage of the other teams and coaches just before the games. He had the philosophy of RMK: "Mental over Physical as 3:1. To me it was riveting. Others just wanted to Phi Slamma Jamma. It takes both...disciplined and a good game plan. I remember each and every ebb and flow of all the coaches. RMK could not and would not hold his tongue. In this society one needs to not be an @$$. Gawd I miss his coaching. Mike Davis sitting on the stool up next to the playing floor. I remember shock at Sampson's hiring and the controversy. He could coach rings around the rest that we have had since RMK. I blame IU for lack of control. They need to let the coaches know that certain things are not to be done here if they are not to be done here. I actually followed Dan D before he came to IU...at BGSU in Ohio. He is an autocratic know-it-all...that I do not have to listen to and he should not coach, players hated him. imho. I knew of Crean up in Milwaukee. I was in Madison WI at the time and then was opposed to his hiring for reasons. Mostly hat and no cattle. Archie was not on my short list. But he was excellent here in Dayton. Again...he did not fit IU and IU seemed not to want to help him...pffft. So pissed at IU. I did not want to bring anything from the other sites. I remember my handles but they don't mean anything now. I do remember some of the handles from way back on other sites. I remember a month long timeout that JohnsonIU may be talking about...glad to report that it wasn't me in the corner. The last 25 years has mostly been a slog. No consistency. Lots of hype. I was at IU back in '69 and enjoyed watching George McGinnis and Joby Wright. My recollections of the best PGs are Thomas and Buckner. Graduated with my fiancé the year that IU went undefeated. I miss Channel 4. And didn't get to see enough of Calbert Cheaney. And I do not understand game plans anymore. And I don't understand why players cannot make free throws. Actually, I guess I do understand. Something about willingness to put in the time and effort to prepare to win. But that's me. This site, the format, the posters, and even...some of the mods/s... make being a non-insider almost feel inside. Tip o' the ole toupee. And thank you all for being here. Is it nap time yet? Oh....game tonight! So excited. Kind of. Well...jeez... -

"One guy who knows a BOT member said Stevens wasn't interested in coaching." That is not all the post related about what came allegedly from a person in the Athletic Department. Stevens allegedly pointed out that he was not planning in the foreseeable future to return to coaching in college. But if he did that it would be at IU. At this point it is just a rumor. I question it because it went through multiple people and I speculate that those in the know are keeping lips sealed. However, once people in the BOT find out, they love to talk. Plus, normally at this stage of the process coaches use representatives and don't talk about other potential jobs when they have jobs. So, I am holding my powder dry until the next rumor or embellishment on this one. Want to start a new rumor? My wife's brother is deceased. Used to work for a firm right next to the sports consulting and law firm in Indianapolis that Dolson used to work for. His widowed wife told us yesterday that Stevens had someone in Zionsville airport that was talking to someone that signed in from the firm that a daughter did not recognize but they were talking about coaching at IU. The family member works at the FBO up there. -

Appreciate your post. I do not know what to make of it though. Still, I will put on my thinking cap and try to understand it as if it is gospel. Seems logical that Stevens would say something like he would not be coaching in college for the foreseeable future. That is his official stance...I can see why. He has a job. One hardly ever would announce to anyone that he is seeking any other job. It also depends on how one defines foreseeable future. And the statement that it would be IU if he did could be interpreted in at least two ways. Positive...IU! Or, kind of a platitude and a courtesy...sure IU, yeah, sure...(meaning thanks but no thanks but I will be polite.) At my age my foreseeable future is my next breath./s Taking a step back..the post makes me wonder about how much Dolson or anyone else is actually talking to a somewhat political group about potential coach hires. Usually that kind of thing really is kept close to the vest. For instance, how long before the hire did we know about Woodson or Miller or Crean? The Dusty May part of the post is interesting and passes more of a smell test because it is my understanding that the AD probably has consultants and/or emissaries making contacts with the representatives of other coaches. Still, it is fun to see the post, and this is not meant as me putting it down in any way. It ain't over until we say it's over. I will be sending a couple of made men over to take your sworn statement. -

Really was fun...way back. Teaching Dos Prompt loading to my youngins. I enjoyed old Flash programs. And downloading on dialup. Top down turn play Panzer General was my favorite. Played some Monkey Island with the girls. Oregon Trail...1991 After Dark games...Lemming... I actually remember playing Pong and other simple games from back then like Pac Man and a Tanks game. Taught the girls on Mavis Bacon typing. They both are now really using computers and online apps. Pretty special. I can't handle moving walls and disorientation...sea sickness symptoms. And I was in the Navy. Go figure. Swim and snorkel too. Ended up in Engineering using Geographic Information Systems and Planning. Wear a tinfoil hat and believe in aliens and all sorts of conspiracy theories now. And I always tell the truth... Go IU.

Not having any inside information here...but somewhat able to intuit truth by verification versus falsehood by the lack thereof... Chris has good standing imho. Taking a step back...Kentuckysx has a good point about Stevens making decisions with one foot out the door. Since one may assume that Stevens is a professional and his word is good...imho he would be talking fairly openly with management to let them know that he is thinking of stepping out. They also would be talking turkey and laying out what might just be best for selling the franchise vs continuing without Stevens. They are all grownups and deadly serious. With that assumption...what Chris says is, to us, a rumor. But I lean toward it. On the other hand...I will believe it when I see it. Hopefully soon. Go Chris...go! And may Brad Stevens come riding over the yonder hill on a stately and beautiful buffalo to save us all from these nightmares.
