(2021) SG Tamar Bates to INDIANA

Did you know that it cost over $70,000 for one year going to IMG-Bradenton? And did you see the following article about a fringe benefit for one student?/sad and sick https://lawandcrime.com/crime/former-florida-private-school-teacher-charged-with-driving-student-to-beach-engaging-in-sex-acts/

    IUMS @ Northwestern - 9/21/21 - 8:00 - BTN

Agree, Wayne, the wind really helped the long, long pass. Couldn't believe the 2nd goal! My, oh, my. I said earlier that our passing hasn't looked sharp. But, Wayne, you said it better about IU's seemingly lack of ball control during the major parts of the game. Wonder what's up about that? Enjoyed watching the whole game.

Last few years IU's passing isn't great. This year need that breakout forward to score.

How long a leash on Penix?

    M. Penix has a leash all the way to the hospital. Coach Allen probably sees that Penix is the only one who might guide IU to a bowl. Whether he will depends on him, the front line, the play calling, the running backs, the receivers, IU's defense and that of the opponents, the way the wind blows, the ball bounces, and the refs. His decision making has not been great. Could that be because he was hurting? Or, maybe in shock...rattled? Could it be that his head got turned around by all of the pressure? Was he worried about injuries? He needs to be fully evaluated...physically, emotionally, mentally...etc. The coaches and the medical staff likely are doing that all week. Coach Allen may not announce Tuttle starts until game time. But I hope that Penix is ready, the team is up, and the OL, the wide receivers etc. do a good job including late in the game.

    Prediction League RESULTS Thread

Well, seems the only way I can win this thing is if everyone else drops out... Hint. Hint. I'm still going to only pick IU to win each and every game. Well, most likely that. I feel like Don Quixote.

Over? Over?! Did somebody say it's over?! It's not over until all of the team, the coaches, and all of the fans say it's over!!! Sure, these are tough times. 2 losses to really good top ten teams after hopes and hypes...and a great and lucky year last year. The Cincy game was winnable for IU. But many things went wrong: Injuries, ref's calls, controversial play calling, dropped balls, bad decisions and my least favorite...lack of discipline. Last year, when the going got tough for IU, we responded and kept going at it. The let-down after the unfortunate targeting call against McFadden was more than noticeable. On that note, heard the refs couldn't see the video replay. Well, here it is: At least the rest of the team is not on double-secret probation! Also read that QB MP Jr. had an X-ray taken. No results have been stated. Hope that he is ok. I say, we could have won the Cincy game. We can win a bunch of the rest of the games this season. Losing to 2 teams like we did is rough but it isn't the season. Go IU!

IU is doing this to themselves...except for that target call. Defense is going to stiffen. Offense is going outside and voila...a win for IU!

IU FG kick is good! Game is in hand now! Trust me.

IU needs to shake off that terrible targeting call and ejection of McFadden. DL needs to get back to doing what they were in the first 20 minutes. I don't know what to say about Pen but he needs a talking to. ..and some protection. OC needs to call short passes until our runs start to work again. And each time we get down within the 20 get some points. This thing can go south pretty quickly. And if you can do it, I sure want to see that targeting hit again...I can't see it...bogus call.

Defense is doing their job. Cincy's QB seems off...probably because, in part, crowd noise and pressure from IU's D. Tip o' the hat to #47 McFadden. Great strip and fumble recovery.

Penix is finding receivers. Receivers good hands are doing a great job... Now if the OC would not only call runs in the middle....

I just hope that IU players don't loose focus when the game is on. What does our QB look like...can he move and pass long? Will the team jump out of the blocks to start? Will the IU OL win the game?

I refuse to answer because of my constitutional fifth of bourbon...right?! And no one can make me take that shot of Bird Dog 7 bourbon... I never answer these questions...but if I did...OSU would be my answer because it is in-conference...and it would be so very sweet. Go IU!

    Favorite All-Time Hoosier Basketball Player

Arrived on Bloomington campus fall of '69. Blown away by the athleticism of Big George McGinnis and his entourage...Joby Wright...etc. I was young and impressionable. Left college and joined the U.S.Navy and succeeded in not going to 'Nam. Came back after 4 years...fall of '75. Bobby Knight and the team...are you kidding me?!! Kent Benson, The MIghty Quinn Buckner, Scottie (Mr. Smooth) May, Bobby Wilkerson...etc.!!! I. Thomas (I have to agree with Hoosier Hoopster posting above Isiah Thomas is a good pick for favorite)..Steve Alford... Dean Garrett...Landon Turner...Keith 'The Shot' Smart...... Calbert Cheaney...Jared Jefferson...Victor Oladipo... Just too numerous to choose just one GOAT...and I left out far too many great IU players. But...McGinnis was a once-in-a-lifetime player...phenomenal! And Isiah Thomas is the best PG I have ever seen. It would be difficult to choose between Cheaney and May...leaning toward Cheaney...but the National Champion undefeated team in the year I graduated IU-B and got married (still married after 44 years) implies May. But my all time favorite...because of charisma, smile, and vertical leap.....A. J. Moye! A. J. Moye! A.J. Moye! Leaps tall buildings in a single bound! Did you see his block on Boozer in IU's upset against Duke in the '02 NCAAT?!!! (Took my family to the game at Rupp...wowee!)

Can't wait until game time! The team and the coaches have all sorts of pressure heaped on them. But they are very experienced in this sort of game. Neither team has seen the entire arsenal of the other. IU needs to run much better than they have been. IU's Special Teams may make the difference. Will be fun. I made a mistake. Bought a 7 year Bird Dog Bourbon just before the Idaho game. Just don't. Been relatively sober since. Time to switch back to WT101 or OGD114... If I wanted to stay under $30...or Jefferson Reserve Ocean for over $50. Just like IU...stepping up my game.
  20. Cincinnati Bearcats are for real. QB is experienced and can run but likely won't, mostly. He is accurate on passes and they are going for bigger gains. So our DBs need to be on their toes. And pressure on their QB is a must. Lines are good on both sides of the ball. Their kickoffs aren't perfect with one per game going OB. Des running out of the pocket is their secret weapon...but not used a lot, yet. Cincy bends but doesn't break. They are confident. IU just needs to settle down and do things correctly. Make it through the first 10 minutes cleanly. No turnovers, no penalties, pressure them, win in the trenches, receivers running crisp routes, etc. Cincy will try to do the same. Game will be won on the line. Both teams have not shown their whole games. There will be surprises. Carr sees daylight...Fry gets 2 TDs. Penix makes lots of quick tosses. (Our OL is the big ?). Cincy gets penalties galore. IU grows. Stadium rocks! Dave picks perfectly... Cincy 24; Indiana, our Indiana 31

    B1G Conference Predictions 2021-22

If TJD can develop more of his outside game, in part because of Durr spending some time as the 5...then Durr will be worth his salt...but not the (outside and 18' ) shooter that I was positing. Remember, Durr is from the AAC not the ACC. But hope his numbers there translate to the B1G. Galloway already is a role glue guy. Just think if he can hit a few shots! Yeah, great! I never thought of Duncomb as a great PG...trying to envision it...heh, yeah no.

    B1G Conference Predictions 2021-22

B1G conference predictions: 1. The referees' calls are not going to get better; 2. Three universities will forfeit games because of Covid-19; 3. The ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12 alliance will not agree to assume responsibility from the NCAA regarding self regulation of college sports; 4. The Big Ten Network will not expand it's offering of live sports such as soccer or swimming or golf and BTN+ will still suck; 5. Indiana University Men's Basketball Team will find on it's roster: a great PG and not who you think; a great shooter and not who you think; a great glue guy...well, we know who this is; and a great banger underneath that hits all the buttons...not; 6. Indiana University Men's Basketball Team gets into the NCAAT without being on the bubble; 7. Indiana does not lose to OSU at Assembly Hall on January 6; 8. Coach Woodsen gets a really decent pay raise in 2022; 9 Indiana beats purdue but not in basketball, sorry; 10. Coach Woodsen doesn't immediately find the shooters to play 4 out and 1 in...but it does happen this season; 11. Recruiting picks up and the trend gets better and better!

    Fishing chat and pics..

Do you drink when you fish or fish when you drink? Lots of lake weed messing with fishing near banks at Indian Lake OH. Zebra mussels have removed the algae but resulted in weed problems. Oh well...lots of bluegill, some big catfish, some Kolsh, and some Old Tub bourbon... Others get saugeyes and bass. 115 Hp moves the 20' pontoon boat enough to pull skiers...believe it or not. Not good for beginners, though. Wife skis slalom as does daughter. But weeds on this shallow 5000 acre lake are a drag...literally. Better than algae imho...as an environmental engineer...They will have 2 weed cutters next year...and say there is a way to knock down some of the weeds that the OEPA and ODNR will approve.
