Indiana University basketball team is still undefeated this season! Tied for the lead in the B1G, Indiana's Head Basketball Coach Mike Woodson can already do the following: 1. Not make a fool of himself in front of a TV camera; 2. Keep his pants in place without having to pull them up every time he turns around; 3. Knows that getting quality recruits that can hit the 3 is a key to winning in the NCAA and the B1G; 4. Doesn't chew gum as a good luck charm; 5. Appreciates this history of the Hoosier's Men's Basketball at Indiana University; 6. Has given each of us lots of hope and is putting Indiana Basketball back on the National scene just when we needed it. Learn a lot about the team today, guys. And keep us posted. And condiments to Hovadipo for lotsa stuff. -
2021 IUBB Bahamas Trip
Dave from Dayton replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
According to ITH Durr & Duncomb will not be playing in the Bahamas. No further information was provided. Back to the Future: TJD, Race, and Kopp? I am starting on my Old Grandad 114 a little early. I do understand why this exhibition game is not going to be televised or streamed. It really is a green coaching debut for CMW and for the 4:1. If I were the coach, I sure wouldn't want anyone to see these games...the honeymoon would be over too soon. Let's bet on how many 3's are shot and how many are made by this crew. I guess 22 are attempted and 7 are made. I need to take a shot. Put me in coach...I'm ready to play, today! -
(2022) - PF Noah Clowney to Alabama

Agreed! Maybe the B1G TEN might suggest that. /s -
Just listened, again, to Sick and Tired by Cross Canadian Ragweed...and I started sneezing. /s Well, I am allergic to a lot of country music. That is unless i have some 'shine' and Texas barbeque going down. So, I will stick with my Texas Blues and Chicago Blues and steel drums and hammered dulcimer and juice harp and Kenny Wayne Shepard and Black Keys and Nova Scotia/French Gypsy Jazz (ie Gypsophilia @ Montreal Jazz Festival 2015)...if and only if the lead can do handstands and kicks during a live show...

CCR had some fun songs: It Came Out Of The Sky; Lookin' Out My Backdoor. Disturbing songs: Midnight Special; Who Will Stop The Rain; I Put a Spell On You; and you have to listen to Effigy. And a lot of just great rock/blues/swamp/garage/etc....looking forward to listening to Fogerty and sons live! What a great summer! Returning to Evansville to see family...and go to the free W C Hardy Blues Festival in Henderson on Saturday. Beer, Bar B Q, Blues, family, friends...outside!

John Fogerty is at The Rose, Huber Heights (near Dayton OH), July 16. Presale on Ticketmaster today in an hour and a half. Anyone see his show 50 years since Woodstock? Saw glowing reviews 2 weeks ago at Red Rock. Creedence Clearwater Revival was one of my go to bands. Swamp rock: Suzie Q, Proud Mary, Fortunate Son, Who Will Stop the Rain, ... Centerfield... Venue is covered and open sides...great place..parking adjacent ...free if with tickets. Box Office is only open midday Fridays. I live 3 miles away. Also seeing Brit Floyd (Pink Floyd tribute band), Chicago, ... Rock On!

IUMS-Tournament Talk
Dave from Dayton replied to Hoosierfan1901's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
Passing is not crisp. Not controlling the field. Don't really look sharp. Can't sustain an offensive pressure. IU will win, obviously. -

Very good question. I do not know the answer. But, seems will be defensive the whole way. Prolly overtime score or unfortunately kick for it. Both goalies are good. -

Noles (FSU) score with 28 minutes in 2nd half left. Not likely to go late, now. -

I signed up for Sling before the last game...and have already cancelled because of the 3-day trial. Even though ESPNU was not on their 'basic' 3 options, it was an add. But, no charge for 3 day trial. Sling does not readily advertise or push the trial period. Once you get into the site and start the process, then the button for the trial appears. So watch for it. Sling was definitely laggy. Started a new drinking game. When I couldn't tell what was going on because of the lag...another drink. Nyuck! Nyuck!! Nyuck!! (And a tip of the hat to Jack Nicholson in Easy Rider.) -

Game Day! Getting with a friend to watch the game at my place. Got some decent bourbon, beer, brats and sunshine here. Just win, baby! -
(2022) PG Braden Smith to Purdue
Dave from Dayton replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
This is such a subjective matter. There are all sorts of things that may swing the "worth" or value of a dunk over 2 free throws. Such as situational issues. A dunk may be better during for momentum or to get the crowd pumped. Free throws may be better because a defender stopped a play as time is winding down and cool -rational play is appropriate. One also may have been looking at just the score and not the momentum issues. Maybe the dunk was more risky than the two free throws. The situation may dictate which would have had more of the ancillary 'benefit'. Personally, being 5' 8" tall and unlikely to dunk...definitely MY dunk would be more spectacular! (and risky?) -
Coach Tony's dive into the 4-out, 1-in, offense...Excellent!
Dave from Dayton replied to DWB's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Watched it. Very clear and helpful. Love the concept of keeping the defense occupied with the exchanges. Versus that stagnant offense of CAM. Thanks. -
I reluctantly agree with btownqb that Lander is a focus in the hypothetical. Even if Lander could live up to his 5* billing doesn't necessarily mean that he would be an excellent B1G point guard this season. Plus, IU doesn't play against hypothetically very good B1G opponents. The other teams are reloading etc. And, the bench comes in to play. Are they going to step up when the starters need a breather? What is CMW's offense and defense going to look like in the first year? Can IU defend the really big center in the B1G? Can IU take advantage of the matchups that go small or throw a zone at IU or get really physical or own their courts? Will this team come together and mesh? I'd say with the original poster's hypothetical this team could make it into the top 3 in the conference and competing for the championship of the B1G and the downside would be in the top 7. The NCAAT would depend on seeding, matchups and whether IU executes or the other team does. They would do well, I guess. And no, they would not run the table.

Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD
Dave from Dayton replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It seems that Mike Roberts had moved from the coaching staff to an administrative job working for Dolson not Woodson. So as far as the coaching staff, it is already set. Roberts leaving may have been anticipated by Indiana. -
Who will be most improved player & Why.
Dave from Dayton replied to HoosierBoiler's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I have been hoping that Rob Phinesee will break out and become a great offensive asset for Indiana. I still hope that. But I don't see it happening. Because he has had that opportunity and it hasn't happened. Indiana basketball really needs a great point guard. Lander might just do it. His freshman year is behind him. Is he gaining strength? Will he have less turnovers? Will his shooting improve? Well, yeah! How about TJD? Will his inside game improve now that Indiana is spacing better and hitting 3's? Will he use his right hand? Will he have a decent jump shot? Will he gain some muscle and be able to push others around? Will he stop with the soft roll off of the fingers about 3' from the rim? Well, yeah! Will those players on the perimeter not let the other team get that quick step around them towards the basket? Will they start hitting 3's at a much better clip? Will everyone improve their free throws? And improve overall defense? I think that they all will improve... Spoiler Alert: The person who will make the most improvements this year is... Coach Woodson! (And the whole team as a team will be improved!) Clearly! He was a great player way back when. He is going to make a bigger impact on Indiana now. -
Sure, Brunk was older...a leader we think...and he was big. But he wasn't super mobile. Did the metrics show that the team was better with him when TJD or Race were out? What was all the hedging about out near the free throw line? Free throws were not good. Scoring wasn't great. Coach MW may have said that IU was looking to have just one inside. Between TJD, Race and big newcomer D who needs the game minutes...Brunk wouldn't get much in the uptempo game. Sad but true. Brunk and tOSU coach go way back. Better for him to be there. Hope that he gets lots of PT at tOSU and IU beats the heck out of them. They will be slower with him. Thanks for being here. Hope your health is better. Next man up.

Sorry. I have no idea. I almost never go near anything UK. I won't even go on a bourbon tour that goes anywhere near that place. (Although I have been to Rupp to cheer on IU in the NCAAT.) And I have to admit, the Kentucky fans were very gracious and actually cheered IU when Duke lost. This just was listed when i Googled Brooks. Didn't vet the site. No dog in this hunt either. Have mixed feelings about all of this. Coaches have tough jobs but they are paid way too much for the grief. And it has to be gut-wrenching for the student/athletes, their families and friends. I don't blame anyone for going to a program away from the home state. Lots of reasons might justify those decisions. Didn't say I liked the idea though. Except in this case, it is UK. Ugh. That's almost as bad as going to W. Laffy.
