Well, that game was difficult to take at the end. Not surprising though, unfortunately. But until IU has guards that can hit their shots and not turn over the ball... And a complete team around a talent like TJD... I won't blame Coach Woody. Transfers clearly haven't been a big help at IU lately. But, that hand was dealt by the situation and Coach, the team and fans just have to play those cards. There are four in my family going over to the IU @ OSU game early next week. We will be geared up and cheering for our team. It might be bittersweet at the end. But there is hope. And we will definitely have a great time. 2 of us are in row 4 across from the OSU bench. 2 of us are a little up from that. If you see a really good looking IU alum with a trophy wife wearing IU gear and cheering wildly.... we are about 20 rows higher than them.

Well, IU will be very competitive at OSU. I have almost all of my family going! OSU is going down! And at this point...every game is a must win.

It's starting to get warmer outside. Covid-19 numbers seem, generally, to be on a downswing. USA is getting a decent amount of medals in the Olympics, finally. In just over 2 weeks my Indiana sweetheart and I will be on the beach in southwest Florida. Our taxes are all but done. And Indiana Men's basketball returns to SSAH against Wisconsin in a decent matchup! Having graduated from both IU and UW, I feel very strongly that my alma mater will win. For the record, I don't cheer for Wisconsin. In basketball, I have never cheered for Wisconsin when IU plays them head to head. And in this first year after CAM, Coach Woody and the team are suffering from the junk that came before. Wish it was different than that. But, noooo. I see this thing turning around. Why? Please refer to the first paragraph. Your team is on the floor. IU will win tonight! Because we have to.

I feel great about this game! There is no way that IU lets this slip away. Guys will be energized. TJD will get a double double and rule the roost with Race. Free throws will be made at a clip of 76% or better...especially down the stretch. A pleasant surprise is that Phin plays in a short cameo and hits 2 shots. We will hit just enough 3's to keep UW honest and spread on defense. AH will be rocking and the refs will be very reasonable in their officiating. And there will be peace on Earth in our time. MSU is infamous for 3's and free throw percentage and strong, chippy play. So Coach Woody had to prepare for this.

Thanks for starting this thread, 1976. I don't know about Leal starting. But, definitely think that Galloway should. Woodson likely won't start either of them unless he has to. But he should imho. Oh well. Gear on. And I'm ready for this. Good luck Hoosiers!

Just notified: Indiana at OSU changed from Saturday noon 2/19 to Monday 7 PM 2/21. There are four of us that are going. Too bad..daughter has birthday on 19th. Happened because Iowa at OSU is rescheduled for 19th.

Changing my prediction because Woody may start Trey. We have to have someone besides Xavier to initiate the offense. Plus, Trey is a better defender than Kopp and PS. And Trey will make his own opportunities, too. MSU doesn't have one or two players that carry the load. The whole starting 5 scores. They also are better than IU in assists and offensive rebounds. And should I mention shooting the 3 and free throws...MSU is better. Since IU's offense needs something. That something is Trey. I predict: Indiana 75 MSU 68 All depends on changing the starting 5 and inserting Trey. If Woody doesn't then draft craft beer or decent bourbon and sayonara NCAAT.

Teams that the whole is more than the sum of the parts impress me. Those that share the ball to make others look good. High assist rates and good team defense are certainly indicators. They seem to have very strong ball handlers. They have initiators that have great court vision and take advantage of situations and matchups. They do the extra work in screening, thinking, rebounding and blocking out. When the tide turns against them, they still try to do the right things. Good sportsmanship is also part of it. Both on court and off. They pursue an education. Shows, in part, that they are becoming adults and productive members of society...respecting others and themselves. One would hope that they win a few more than one would expect. But that does not always happen. Of course, a great coach is a requirement.

I do not want to say this: MSU 72 Indiana 67 Gym Izzo beats Woody.

Seems to me that the constant early whistles took the wind out of IU's fast break. IU got lucky by being up by 2 at the half. TJD never got into the flow of things because of Illinois' 300 lb Kofi. And Kofi was allowed to elbow and walk all night. With no fast break...and not dominant in the middle...guys just stood around... IU is really a one trick pony. And the pony came up lame. I was hoping that Kofi would get whistled for fouls. But, TJD got frustrated and was called for his. TJD and Race need to be able to roam around. If they don't...what is IU to do? Hit 3's? Yeah, right. Not blaming anyone. Cheering for ole IU! But we need excellent recruiting. Help is on the way. Right? Right? uh... yeah. I hope.

Well, you win some and you lose some. But, nothing is better than getting some!

70 to 67....and IU can't buy a three or a free throw... Flips coin: Heads! It's Indiana with a win on the road. Never in doubt. Well... Some, yes. When the opponent screens at the top of the key...why do our players nod at the guy with the ball as he drives toward the basket? And why does everyone stand around on offense in the 2nd half waiting for TJD to score? No mas!
