I don't think that I am the only one, but to some of us, it wasn't that it worked as much as it was that we had a staff with the balls to do it. We had swag, even eff you swag. CBK's "self confidence" (hahaha) allowed fans to have swag living in his shadow. That tactic may not have worked for short term success, but it sent one heck of a message and was part of Hoosier Nation swag (however misguided or not).

I don't see that it really matters in the grand scheme. If the team is coached to play "against themselves" every game, to achieve the perfect game, the opponent doesn't matter. Rankings are noise for fans and their (our) couch coaching. Players should focus on the perfect game not being 1 point better than the next guy... Wax on, wax off. YOU are your #1 opponent. OK, I've said it. At least I tried. It's a nice dream.
