Post anything they said in twitter or elsewhere supporting coach. I agree most showed disappointment with players, but there was absolute silence on Crean by his former players.
-
You're right. This is about AJ and what's important to him like his former coach coming back for him. Obviously according to AJ, his coach made a big impression on who he is today and how he got there. AJ was one of our best ever. He lead by example and was clutch in big games because of his dedication. Congrats AJ; a true definition of a Indiana Hoosier legend.

Who is Crean doing circles around recruiting? Matt Painter? If other coaches mention what you say is that they want Crean here for a long time. Outside of Izzo, who else is the B1G thinks highly of Crean? Plus your focus on Stevens is getting creepy. There are many viable coaches other than him that could be very successful here all the while instilling some sort of discipline our current doesn't have. How many former IU players under Crean came to his defense with what has happened? Zero by my count. Name them if you disagree.

Semantics which is alright to discuss. Even though you read my post and who I was discussing, I will paraphrase. A coach who will not or ever take blame is no leader. That same coach who will then say he has no leaders among his players is a hypocrit at best. The results of Crean's not having any leadership has resulted in his program. One that not many but a few apologists here find proudful. Is that helpful?

I got it along time go. The bigger question is when will you get it? You can't say all this is misinformation about our team or their lack of leadership when 6 of 13 are in trouble. Obviously you are in the same camp as coach saying all this is on our player leaders. Stan getting a 2 real game suspension for 2 failed drug tests and 1 alchohol and id arrest is the message he has been sending from day 1. The message has been sent from the head coach that 1. This behavior will be tolerated 2. This behavior will not be punished. At least my fantasies have a merit of hope. Yours are tired, useless, and shady. Time to stand up for the glory of IU.

Not one where 40% of his team has been arrested and lays it all on them. Please tell me one time where Crean has taken blame for anything his team's have done on or off the court n his 7th year. Par for the course. Now compare him to a hall of fame football coach here in SC having a terrible year and guess what he says. "We aren't very good coaches now" or "we need to coach them better". You see the difference? A great leader certainly doesn't throw his players under the bus esp during these hard times unless he's no leader at all. And that's what we have at Indiana for another short year I'm willing to wait after 6 long ones.

You are correct. Glass has no other option because of the ridiculous contract he gave Crean. He's gonna ride that pony right out of Bloomington with Crean in shotgun and maybe Wilson in tow. His comment that Crean was the solution and not the problem means he's doubling down with a bluff hand. He will get called.

Who would have thought that when the walkons all left the team last year along with many others, this would really hurt the team? I'm sure Coach thought he would just replace them like all his scholarship players. No continuity even with walkons. Sad.

We all wish the best for Devin. His rehab may take a long time and provides insight to how bad his injury actually was. Just a bad deal for a young man in the prime of his life. We will all be rooting for him.
-
Sure looks like we need him more than he needs us. Not that we should be surprised.

I forgot about this post until it was liked. Some of us see things much clearer than others . Now the coach is saying we have no leadership as his excuse for his program's problems. Never heard a head coach blame leadership before, but I certainly agree. Mind blowing denial and lack of what he doesn't have. His broad shoulders comment was the only time he has come close to accept blame for anything in his program, and we see the results.
-
My thoughts are there is nothing he can do except maybe win the B1G and go dancing. That may not be enough, but a final four probably would. I just don't see that happening with our post issues plus he couldn't do it with a much more talented team in 2012.

IU Basketball Team Dealing With Epidemic of Poor Choices by Players Who Should Know Better
schoosier replied to DocLibby's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My question is how does Stan keep screwing up without being shown the door? I think he is the poster child for Creans deficiencies as it relates to where he's in serious trouble. That and keeping all of these failed drug tests under wraps will be his undoing. -
The red flags have been present and a lot of us noticed. A big one for me was Jeremy being benched for focus problems and Crean's inability to accept any blame for the teams lousy play and execution. Its hard to get your players to have any accountability when you have none for yourself. Even now stating his shoulders are wide or whatever during Fisch's interview. His inflated opinion of himself has rubbed off on his elitist team that doesn't believe these rules apply to them. And that's before I get into his coaching style or whatever you want to call it. Its more like a schtick, an act, a cheerleader more focused on the fans than his team.
-
Kinda my thinking also, but you say it so much more eloquently.
-
To my knowledge he has no rap sheet; maybe he could be that leader Tom's been looking for.
-
Can he play this year if admitted in December? We may have plenty of room by then for more than just his one scholly.
-
Ah, thanks for thinking of me. Go Indiana!
-
What's his buyout? Given he signed off on Creans ludicrous contract, something tells me his is probably pretty steep too.

Stan and Troy suspended for failed drug tests..
schoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I will accept your apology, right apologist since your username you own and adopted so really not me calling you . Some of your names for me like old I can own too. But really, calling me miserable when I have real stories to tell by playing the game at a high level as well as graduating from IU during a real championship year and the stories that go with them, all the while your young blood isn't making his own but reading mine? And you say I'm miserable? Start doing and maybe you will have some to tell of your own. No hard feelings here; I hope none on your end. You will still have the memories of Crean cutting the nets down after a home loss to Ohio State to tell future Hoosiers. Oh, such fond memories. -

By your stating true didn't you agree with me that success on one level does not necessarly translate to the other? If your asking if I think that any or all three of these former Hoosiers can lead us to better than a sweet 16 in 6 years, then my answer is absolutely yes! -
Sorry I Couldn't read the first 7 pages before offering my own example. Coach, I just don't see you coaching much past this year. We are recruiting at a high level and I don't want to see your talents waisted here while you could be contributing on another MAC level team. We only have one head coaching job and two commits lined up and we're still recruiting and potential means everything. I know you have patiently waited to get to the final four but others with more credentials are interested and may want the head job. We're not sure but they look promising. It's Indiana so even though you have given six years for your chance, we feel it would be better to move in another direction but we will help you coach somewhere else. No hard feelings coach, just the way it is in big time basketball right?

Yes its my opinion and very perceptive since none have coached college basketball. To help, NBA success doesn't translate into college success or vice versa. So you stating since they didn't have success at your expected levels means they won't at the college level. It doesn't translate to both levels of basketball; ie college to high school. Stevens, our next coach, is finding this out. -

This may be true, but many weren't overly impressed with the motion either. I'm not saying we would have the same results, but I'm just saying. Would a Bo Ryan offense be acceptable if we were winning at an 80% clip? -

Pitino was a horrible NBA coach; so was Calipari. Larry Brown had is best success at Kansas. What do they have in common? NCAA chamionships. The logic just doesn't compute and my facts prove it. Put any of the above I mention as head coach and they will succeed far greater than Crean. They bled for IU; but the biggest reason is they know what it takes to get to the next level and recruits are listening. And, Stevens would come. We take that 12 mil buyout we now dont have to pay and use it for Stevens. Even Boston knows its his dream job.
