Troy playing the 5 again just like first half. Some said no way. Seeing is believing. -

Troy is out of control most of the time. Just forces things. Holt was a pleasant surprise; he has a knack for theball. Does Hanner have a rebound other than the putback slam? He is in terrible rebounding position it seems. He did have a nice finger roll prayer though. -
Larry Brown on Tom Crean

JB2 will get most of the attention moving forward as its obvious we are gonna rely heavily on him for points. I don't really see us getting double teamed, but there will be a lot of switches on the high ball screens. If Hanner can start contributing on some form of offensive post prescence on these switches, we could be really hard to stop. -
Larry Brown on Tom Crean

How does one quote from one person translate into what many think? Also, after just getting beat, how many losing coaches say the coach that just beat them isn't a very good coach? In all fairness his words are very complimentary and he thinks highly of Crean for the reasons you quoted. What I find very funny about Brown is he is quoted about worrying about Dean Smith's legacy and his alma mater all the while his only NCAA championship at Kansas was tainted and directly led to sanctions for the program. Is he not concerned about his own legacy. Crean does deserve credit for the win. Unfortunately, I was in tobacco road where the B1G channel isn't a priority and missed the game. If someone said Hanner would have 0 rebounds, I would think we would have no chance. Unfortunately, our future opponents won't let the 3 balls beat them. Mark it. -
Great win and hate I missed it. Looking at the stats made freethrows big disparity with the mustangs. We must have penetrated well but looks like 60% of shots were three balls. Wow!

Stuck in downtown Raleigh; bars on every corner but none with Big channel. Might be a good thing. Any internet sights showing? Thanks in advance.

That's hard for me to believe. If true, don't get me started.

Thoughts on the Games in Indy Last Night
schoosier replied to CampHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree and never even mentioned recruiting. What I did say was them buying in to be role players which is coaching 101; team before self. There will never be a rule regarding platoon subbing as you can still only play 5 at a time. The only rule to stop his juggernaut would be a mandatory 2 or 3 year requirement to stay in college if you enroll. No more one and dones, but allow the kids to go pro straight out of high school. -
He is probably limited to what he can do with the team and recruiting since he's not an assistant coach. Its probably a try out for a future assistants job as there are two assistants ready to leave for another try at as a head coach. I don't have inside info, its just a guess. But if he's sitting that close to Coach, his input must have value or he's icing the Diet Cokes.

Thoughts on the Games in Indy Last Night

Outside of a major scandal or plane crash, UK will walk to the championship. They have two starting fives that can wax any others best 5. They played so unselfish with great defense; I don't see any other teams competing. All 10 players won't have a bad game on the same night plus they will never get in foul trouble. How Calipari can take stars and make them play as role players is to be commended. They have bought in to the program. Litterally lol. -
They say the rope's a lot stronger nowadays and I believe it after hearing your comment. Do you think defense has anything to do with this game? UK with 8 blocks this half!
-
Uk vs Kansas. Wow, first five minutes just unbelievable athletes and size. It really puts an exclamation mark on just how far our program has to go to compete at a national level. UK with 9 burger boys and size only an NBA team wishes to have. Self is a better coach but you can't coach NBA talent.

Is this our Champions Classic thread? Held in Indianapolis without our Hoosiers? Blasphemy!

Cal taking FULL advantage of rule changes
schoosier replied to Chips&Dipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
There is no limit to training tables now. Some of the SEC schools are sending portable restaurants(meals on wheels) out to their players. One budgeted a million dollars if I'm not mistaken. So With no limits the strongest will eat the best and the weakest will eat White Castles. The NCAA caved on this issue and soon to be more as the top 5 conferences will leave and start their own leading body. -

Well, looks like its a big W for Indiana. That scowl on Davis face says it all. On to watch the Mich game as they have limited size also. I will forward my scouting notes to everyone at Btown banners and then to coach. I'm sure he would appreciate them as much as you would. Have a good evening. -

All the remininsing with Davis 1 on 5 offense has been like taking a step back in time. He was so undervalued here; just look at how well his team utilizes its offensive possessions. I can almost see Bracey Wright in a Texas whatever uniform. -

Certainly not a stat you want your point leading. He just tries to do too much instead of facilitating the offense. -

Hanner execute flawlessly by passing to the wrong man but saves it by a well excuted goal tending. -

Mike Davis 1, Tom Crean 0 on points after time outs for those keeping track of coaching prowess. Its gonna be a nail biter heading into the William Tell timeout. -

Better be careful stating the obvious. Only crimson colored glasses while watching allowed. -

On a positive note, IU up 15 when Coach calls a timeout to prove his coaching chops to the former IU coach at how he can draw one up at the end of the half. On a negative note, Yogi executes exactly as planned by dribbling out of bounds for his 4th turnover only magnifying the obvious. But who wants to discuss what we already know about how this would turnout? All fun aside. Hanner and Johnson both have played extremely well along with Hartman. The team is really unselfish which is good. Put backs and post defense will need to be worked on this year. Everyone will have to help out rebounding moving forward. And hope it doesn't come down to a late timeout for the win.
