The upper lip would have me more worried. He needs his own personal water bottle. -

Teaching basic defense involves keeping your arms out to deflect passes and disrupt vision or at least make entry passes harder to make. When you have 5 coaches on the bench and not one can teach that just truly amazes me. The ony one player tonight I have seen this from is Holt, our least experienced player. Just one example of the little things we don't do that make a difference. I wonder what in the world they are teaching on defense? Moving the feet and blocking out are two other areas that really suck. Just basic defense! -

Good memory. I thought McLeod got fired after he convinced Kyrie Irving to sign with Duke, but if he offered a scholly without even asking Crean; that would be a fireable offense. One question, why are we still offering these younger players? -

Yes, he was a player I think Buckley saw oince and convinced Crean to offer. He accepted and we had to take it back from him. A perfect example of why you shuld not offer these kids before their junior seasons imo. Yes, recruit them, but offer late. It makes a scholarship offer from Indiana hard to get and more value which it is. -

Probably the best player ever coming out of Pendleton Heights although Butler signed another one for next year. -
Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets

Matt Carlino hit for like 37 last night against Ga Tech. Third school from UCLA to BYU and finally Marquette. Smith-Rivera at Georgetown was a big miss from the Movement recruiting class. To think about how highly these 5 kids were rated and where they are now(Yogi, PJ, Hanne, Hollowell, and Patterson). Recruiting was on its way up and Crean picked these 5 when he probably could have had many others from this class if he wanted. I don't understand how Crean always gets great marks with recruiting when this class is probably a big reason why he will be gone after this year. Kids like McGary, Dunham, and Smith-Rivera could have been in the candy stripes. -
when you mentined people afraid to go in for layups, I thought you were referring to undercutting. That's how people get hurt and I've seen it more than a few times. That has no place anywhere in the game.

In a pickup game? I bet you're excited to go in for a layup also. That kind of crap in a pickup game would have gotten you hurt where I came from. Trying to hurt people and careers couldn't be anymore bush league.

So who's going to be the new Coach next year?
schoosier replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't remember those but do remember Bluebirds downtown where you'd could get $.10 pitchers for a couple of hours. Saw Mellencamp there on the down low and distinctly remember a dead head name Cubic puking in his empty pitcher waiting in line trying to beat the deadline for more cheap beer. Think he was tripping on psychadelics too as he kind of waved his puke covered hand in the air. Also, just for other great Bluebird memories, one boy couldn't wait his turn for the urinal and just used an empty pitcher. Top drawer education at Indiana! -

True story about how old I am. I remember writing a check for like $5.25 for a small Mother Bears pizza delivered including a 2 liter Coke. Tip not included of course, but it could feed me and my girlfriend nicely after an evening of partying IU style. It was loaded with meat and cheese; just an awesome pizza. Certainly nothing we have down south. Pizza here consists of Pizza Hut and you know the rest. Not even a Pizza King. -

What could have been if he didn't wear the enemies colors. -
Thanks for answering my question. No, I would not take Cal over Crean for the reasons you mention and many others including handlers, agents, and SAT sit ins. Indiana is unique and great because we win with excellent players and students. Even to not have suffered for 25 years waiting for the next championship, I wouldn't change that. You will find this consistent with the majority Indiana fans and alumni.

Impressed Cody! Takes me back to some great days.

You make some excellent points. Troy played with heart even though I never saw him slap the court or grandstand after making his highlight reel plays. Maybe the rest of the team may take notice.

Rebel, I really love the enthusiasm you have for the program. We have both been there when we were at the top. In year 7 after getting beat by E Washington at home, what do you think the B1G is gonna be? Also consider we have no one sniffing a lottery pick either and Noah has been downplayed by every apologist this sight can handle. Smell the coffe brother; Crean sucks as a between the lines coach. And that's what its gonna take when we have as little inside game as Martinsville Middle School. You and every other person who thinks maybe Crean will one day become a good coach is just sad. Especially for you when you have witnessed one. Who do you compare Crean with? Honest question.

Hell, let me handle the negotiations. I can get Eddie Fogler on the horn, have him contact Donovan's agent, then get down to business. Nobody's hurt and we are just talking. Kinda of a get to know you phase. I would show him Cook Hall photos and I tell you; he's ours to lose. In fact, his last collegiate loss was against us in the quarterfinals of the final four in 87. Then, after he's talking, you let Stevens agent know another coach of top pedigree has expressed interest. Are you interested? Boom, before you know it you may have my top 2 choices worried they may miss their true, destination job. Play these two until either says yes and make it known to them that first accepted gets the gig. You have contracts, pay accepted in principal and wait for them to be eliminated. Once they are, you make a pressor saying IU is parting ways with Crean. One day later you announce the new head coach. Sign me up McRobbie; I promise to not screw it up like the last 3 AD's. -
So in other words, Coach needs to coach. Good luck with that one.

Appreciate your feedback and inline with my thinking. Glass will be a package firing; a fresh start for football and basketball and the new Assembly Hall. I'm old school but we need a new one. -

Look at the ridiculous contract he gave to Crean and his unwavering support for dead man walking. He goes down with the tan man just like Michigans AD. He's all in and no going back. In his defense he has done good things, but at IU only one thing matters and he's pickedhis dance partner. -
We've hit a new low being compared with Syracuse. What's next, Kentucky? Just very sad.

I feel the same, but it will be better than the "committee" that helped last time. Or the former AD and President that were just as bad as the tool who fired Knight. We have lacked great leadership for a long time at Indiana. No wonder we haven't gotten it right...politics and race played large roles unfortunately. -
Potential coaching change suggestions
schoosier replied to Bryan Medema's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Your sentence about not having fickle basketball fans is exactly why he would leave. They just don't care. Could you imagine being a back to back NC coach and saying that. He would be a God here, and after having all the money you can spend; motivations come in strange areas. He would be a viable candidate. -

We led most of the game, and when it came down to coaching; Crean resorted to his only offense he knows best. Yogi 1 on 5 chucking up bad shots and hoping they go down. Crean is just clueless on in game manegement and drawing up any play(s) to put us in a position to win. If we go to OT, 9 times out of 10 we would win it.
