The main reason Crean will get fired.
schoosier replied to FKfootball's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I wouldn't go that far but we have a lot of positives to build from the Pitt game. 1. Alley oop passes. We have thrown more the last couple games than in the entirety of Creans tenure. Finally taking advantage of our teams strengths is pleasing. 2. Getting Yogi somewhat under control. Him settling for mid range jumpers instead of driving the lane, leaving his feet, and making poor passes although he still had a few of them. 3. Using the team's shooting ability in cohesion with their penetrating ability. We can shoot layups, kick for threes, or throw alley oops. Which one do you want to defend? 4. Watching the development of Holt which goes hand in hand with Hanner as well as the other bench players. Get them all to buy into their roles, accepting them, and them flourishing at them. Hartman, Z and Stan comes to mind but even Yogi and Troy also. They don't have to do it all. If I'm game planning Louisville, I pack in a zone and make them prove they can hit the the shots. They are terrible shooters. I think they will press us, so I would have Yogi play underneath it and get him the ball. Their size and strength has me concerned but you counter it just as we did Pitt. Our best chance imo. -

Someone post the video of Calbert blocking a shot then getting in the face of them. Here comes Pat Graham, Matt Nover, and another player ready to go. We dont back down from Louisville. Classic Indiana team basketball! -

I don't know about a new leaf, but outside the EW game, the team has played pretty well. The game plan for Pitt was spot on and I'm excited to see what's in store for this team. Another motivator is I have never been a Louisville fan, Denny Crum, or anything that sits directly south of the Ohio River. I just hope we come out and punch those thugs right in the mouth. I have seen them play and its another what you see is what you get from them. No class is a compliment compared to their head coach and dump for a university. I hope we get to play them every year, as it stirs the emotions. Do the players need a pre game speech? -

Yes, I agree that's one area that he has lacked albeit many. But in the spirit of the season and for this team as a whole, I am willing to put this aside and just root for the team and Crean. Its what you do regardless of how you feel about him, since nothing gonna keep him from coaching this team and us being Indiana fans/ alumni is most important. Heck, I hope we kick Louisville's a$$ up and down the court, win the B1G, and make a deep run in the tourney. Even if it saves Crean's job. I just can't help myself for what's most important as difficult as many of you may believe. Now, we have a long season ahead of us so don't expect miracles lol. -

Not if you love the best college football. Hands down there's no conference even close. If I didn't despise the OSU I would almost feel bad for what's gonna happen to them against the Tide. They're in my top 5 most hated; always cheat, cheat some more and Thad can't win the big one. -

Interesting analysis and helpful in scheming your d to fit their strengths and weaknesses. This type of information is valuable if you use it correctly and your opposition plays as % say. I'm a big fan of this and hope Crean is valuing this type of information as some other high profile coaches do. -
Was that pic taken froma bus? Really think it was a good idea to come a day early. They're not missing any school work and it gives them an extra day to see the city and the pleasures of suiting up for Indiana. Hopefully, Crean spent some time with recruits if this is a contact period. Lots of talent flowing thru NY.

Hoosier 7 ft Man O' Mystery Sweepstakes

Those are the same coaches who offered them scholarships. If they aren't good enough to ever play, they should have been vetted better and not been offered in the first place. It has everything to do with April based on how we've recruited in the past. Isn't it the same staff? -

Except for PJ and his injuries and Guy Marc and his elegibility, I never understood why Bawa and Jobe didn't play more. Especially earlier in the seasons against cupcakes when that is when they played anyway. Give them more minutes to see if something can be done like with Blap before. You just can't coach 7', and it really makes the staff look bad on three counts. 1. You can't develop projects. 2. You can't recruit projects. 3. You may get run off. I would rather see coach make the commitment to stay with these project centers if they are in good academic standing. Its not their fault Coach offered a scholarship. -

2 big differences in this game and more of it could = more success. 1. RJ is a true pass first point Creans never had at IU. Reduce Yogi's role and you reduce turnovers, bad shots, and incoinsistent play. Sorry, Yogis just not the star if we want to win. Does anyone need more proof? 2. More time = more development for Holt. Soft hands in transition and rebounding. He's smart under the basket. I'm not sure how Crean could make the statement regarding the game being too fast for him. Just more coach speak. Troy may be better off the bench he's such a spaz so Holt conceivably could start with Hanner. There it is in a nutshell folks. Watching Louisville now; we still have a mountain to climb but playing better ball with a win is a step in the right direction. -

He provides some needed inside muscle and bullied one of the Pitt players positioning for a rebound. Granted he got called for a foul, but he's got 5 to give. -

Excellent preparation and execution. When you're two highest scorers are held in check most of the game and you win in a blowout, team ball takes the day. Props to Crean as he had them ready to play. U gotta give credit where its due; just like when it is the other way around. B1G kicking ACC butts; gotta love it. -

Game in the bag with a minute left. Probably the best game since beating Wisconsin last year. Crean should copy the preparation leading up to this game, eat the same pregame, do the same walk thru, whatever else. Tonight proves bball is a team sport. And teams win games not individuals. Congrats to Coach and TEAM. -

Yogi kills the continuity of this team. Over penetrates, takes bad shots, and makes dumb passes. Please put RJ back into the game. -

Heard start of William Tell; just don't let up and keep busting Pitt's zone. That's def not the best d against this team. -

JBlooking for his too much. Selfish plays nt gonna get the W. Time to see Holt and protect Hanners foul issues. Collin bringing it; and to think many wanted to see him packing along with Hollowell and PJ.
