Remy Abell who was a nice contibutor last year and our only option at point following Yogi. It was my understanding he wanted to come back but was not invited. If you noticed when Yogi was subbed with the lead against Minn they made their big run. We do not have a decent back up point now but did last year. Who's that on? My question to you. You say Hollowell should be so much better and he wasn't ready. Could that be because hehas not been used properly based on his strengths now? I agree he hasn't played to his potential but I surmise a lot of it is how he has been used. And that also is on Crean.

Prediction League Game 24 (Week 14) IU vs PSU (02/12/14)
schoosier replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
IU 80 PSU 70 Sheehey joins 46 others in the 1000 pt club. That makes 5 that played on last years team and 6 when Yogi joins. And many said this would not be Creans best team ever. -
I think Jeremy is as talented as any but two others on this team, and I hope he continues to improve and play well. Crean may have expected too much too early so his struggles relate to this. My example is his handling of the ball early in the year when he was not ready for it. Coach forcing him into a role of back up point guard because of his decision to run off option #2 clearly cannot be blamed on Hollowell. You put your players in a position to succeed and this is where Crean has failed miserably as it relates to Hollowell and many others on our team. Making Yogi juke for most of his field goal attempts and few set plays for him and Noah are other examples. You play to your teams strengths which change every year vs. running the three man weave from day one with little to limited sucess not counting last year. Personnel decides how you want to play unless you are John Wooden where you reload with similar blue chip players. Look at 1981 Isiah Thomas and Mr. Motion Bobby Knight. Great coaches teach a philosophy but also understand winning is the ultimate goal.

On Yogi’s Leadership, Lucky Socks, and That Respectable Loss at The Barn
schoosier replied to DocLibby's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Doc, may I make a couple of suggestions regarding future columns. 1. Yogis recruitment and top teams he considered. I remember his big announcement was blown by someone in the media and I would be nterested in your view. 2. Dispell or actknowledge Crean having over 300 set plays and the effect on execution as it relates to our freshmen and upperclassmen. A lot of us only see the three man weave at the top of key with Yogi ultimately having to create his own shot with time running out. 3. Expand more on Yogis role changing from facilitator last year to scorer this year. I think many of our fans don't understand that he is only doing what he is being asked even to the detriment of his assist numbers. 4. The 2012 recruits were termed "The Movement" which may have been unfair although I think it was Patterson who coined it. Can you discuss the ups and downs of this expectation and how do you feel they are stacking up? I would also love to know what you say to the tv during games but understand why you may not be. I would be willing to bet that some of your frustrations are shared by many here. Thanks in advance. -
This is a great series that needs to be played. UK is my #1 hated team and program and has always been the anithesis of what IU basketball stands for. That's why we want to play them. Crean and Glass made a fair offer which makes me feel Cal doesn't want this game even if it was played at Rupp every year. He has downplayed the rivlalry because he doesn't want to play us. I don't see this series restarting until he's gone. Kansas would be the only other program that can match our history, fan base, and importance to the history of the game. Self may take the call Dickie.

I equate turning the corner into peaking at the right time of year. Based on Creans previous teams at IU especially last year when we played our worst ball come tournament time, I have very little confidence we have turned the corner. I just see more of the same. We play well when Yogi hits his shots and lose when he doesn't. We rely way to much on his scoring rather than jamming the ball into Noah like we should be. Just like last year. Cody underutilized and when we shot poorly we lost. One dimensional offenses I'm sorry to say are a hallmark of this regime.

VIDEO: The Greatest Timeout in College Basketball
schoosier replied to BtownBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Interesting how it came about thru football and how Kentucky was involved in it. Now its a tradition just like the candy stripes and no name jerseys. -
I would certainly be interested in hearing your insight into the Luke Fisher situation as it relates to his not fitting in with the team. Plus, I would love to know what the other parents are saying.
