    JaQuan Lyle off the board

I agree and with Wil and Yogi being away playing ball for USA; this hurt us with leadership and continuity. I agree with Hanner too. Its not like our previous players didn't party or get into trouble. While before my time, I have heard stories of Landon Turners ways before he got it figured out. Now granted, Hanner is no LT, but the comparison is worth noting. I hope Hanner has a breakout year, as our season's hopes fall squarely on his shoulders.

    UNC: Wainstein Report

Its been 5 years now so their window is closing. It has cost one football coach, many professors, the whistle blower. Time for Ole Roy to be sent packing too. I just hope those Hoosier boys May and crew cut from Indy didn't take those classes.
  3. Where's his minutes coming realisticly? I count 4 guards ahead of him and if Hoetzel shoots as well as last night, his size gets him minutes over Z for rebounding. Guards won't be our problem though, its our weak inside game and Hanner and Devin getting in foul trouble. But, I'm ready for them to play so a lot less speculation.

    JaQuan Lyle off the board

I like your excitement, but let's be honest. The players you mentin good chemistry and character are the same ones being arrested and allegedly failing drug tests last year correct? What gives them a pass yet a player only being recruited has you worried? I'm not picking on you; I just think the double standard for Lyle is not fair since he hasn't had any indiscrections as the above to my knowledge all the while on scholarship at IU. If you're gonna hold this kid to lofty standards then hold those currently playing to the same. Those unwilling to give him a chance just seems so hypocritical.

    UNC: Wainstein Report

Roy got caught giving senior cash gifts after the season against NCAA rules which put Kansas n probation if memory serves me. Now, if they wanted to look into their academics... What other reason to bring this guy all the way back home to NC unless he was already doing this before for Roy? Yet Roy denies any knowledge of these sham classes when there are emails from this man acknowledging what the classes were. Things are heating up in Carolina; wait til this advisor releases his emails to Roy when they want to blame him. Plus all the players who signed the letter to refute McCants story. Tobacco Road getting real interesting. NCAA will be forced to act. Roy may be forced to resign.

The worst academic scandal in NCAA history. Folks, some banners at UNC coming down. It started under Dean's watch, and was perfected under Roys. Ex football coaches Bunting and Davis admit to knowledge of fake classes but not ole Coca Cola Roy. Yet his boy he brought from Kansas was all over it. Along with the banners, Ole Roy may be coming down too. Just lovin it!

    Hoosier Hysteria--Dunk Contest Judges

Best dunker all time at IU.
  8. It is relevant as we don't have enough spots for commits plus we're still recruiting more guards on a team loaded with them. I wouldn't plant too many roots if I were him knowing were a guard heavy team. Maybe Crean already had the talk prior to him signing and its part of the master plan.
  9. What if he doesn't succeed to your expectations? Would you be alright with him having to make another fresh start since we are loaded with guards, two current players must leave, and we're still recruiting more guards?
  10. He may be playing with better players but also against better players, teams and defense. You earn respect on the court; demanding it won't get you a bag of chips. Tell me exactly how numbers lie, when a vast majority of coaches now are looking to run a Brad Stevens philosophy where every stat and number is tracked and manipulated. This is how teams, well most, game plan for opponents all the way down to in bounds plays, fouling, etc... I'm sorry but you are completely mislead if you don't think a players numbers don't matter. Just ask any real coach. Also, Z will have his work cut out for him to match Roth's shooting. How many 3's did roth hit the one game he went for 30+? Wishful thinking though.
  11. I hope he plays awesome, but the pattern of overating our newcomers has become almost laughable. My God people, look at his past stats and percentages at a lower school. A year later and because he can somehow start for us makes him what his stats say otherwise. If he starts or plays major minutes says more about where our program is currently. This is B1g ball folks; not the Mac or Juco. Talk about unrealistic expectations; only because Crean has done the same regarding him. Hope he proves me wrong.

    UNC: Wainstein Report

What is the real lesson for us and any university to be learned here. Deny, fight, and fire. Deny that anything happened as Gaddarnit Roy and all his loyal Afro studies players except one has done. Deny all the way to the u president. Fight it with all the high priced attorneys and "unbiased investigators" the good ole UNC can afford. Fire the head of the program as well as the deepthroat chairwoman who ratted those filthy people out. That's the gameplan moving forward against any wrongdoings. What just ticks me off is we self reported freaking extra phone calls that aren't even a violation now and it helped set back our program another decade. It didn't help we had horrendous leadership from the president to athletic director to head coach. If we were UK Sampson would probably still be here since he was winning. I hate UNC almost as much as Uk these days.

    And so it begins...

I think this is great and I wish it was more. Its really funny actually when this is about 5% of what Cam Newton got to sign with Auburn. Pay them for their autographs too. Nobody owns these athletes. The schools should be thankful for all the $ they bring to the school. Fortunately, the boosters still do. If you don't believe this try to explain Kentucky getting 10 NBA players on one team? Spread it around so all the players get a piece.

I thought it was 12 scholarship with one oversign to get to 12?

Speaking of hyper players, the team he's playing against in this video were full of them. He has a nice shot and blocks shots well with a good vertical. Looks like his best role would be a a three so I don't see how this addresses our inside depth. Maybe he could play a four similar to Watford and he has more athleticism. Are we still recruiting with two oversigns, and who will have to wait when early signing period opens up? I can see some B1G coaches getting ticked off if all are allowed to sign all of these players early since we don't have any seniors and there is a rule in place that addresses this. I can only see one plan and its not created by players leaving for the NBA.

    Fed up.

I lived behind frat row my senior year think it was street behind third and also walked to many business classes. I distinctly remember those cold mornings with snow on the ground. Thankfully, I had a wool coat that went to my ankles that kept me warm. I certainly don't miss the Indiana winters even in Bloomington.

Who Will Be IU's Next Commitment

So you work in Mcnutt? Its all good, there is a lot of support staff needed to keep IU running efficiently. Maybe that's why you hate the term alumni, and I can understand the resentment.

    Fed up.

I got to know Schell(rip), Van Waiters and Ernie Jones from that team. I didn't know it at the time, but it will be remembered as the best year ever at IU in revenue sports. What an exciting year. I froze my butt off at the Michigan game, but beating them was a really special moment. Watching the jucos of Smart and Garrett jell with Alford, Thomas and company was equally rewarding. Live for the moment all you IU students!

1987 was a great year beating Ohio State and Michigan. Tied for B1G champs but lost to Wisconsin for Rose Bowl honors if I remember correctly.

Who Will Be IU's Next Commitment

Did you not see fans listed with alumni? Dang dude; were you the same poster who got worked up over another post I made? Lighten up Francis; it's just a message board. Or a fan board lol.
  23. Instead of the topics that end with I love Coach he is our savior or I hate Coach he can't coach, I thought I would start a topic regarding what you think it will take for us to be successful. What offense would you utilize our guard heavy team? What defense would you have Crean run to maximize our strengths? Press? Then, what do you think our opponents will play against us both offense and defense? I have made several references on both, but I'm interested in our collective basketball knowledge. I would be esp interested in some different thinking, as I think its going to some of this to win. I will respond if you want my ideas although most probably know.

    Fed up.

While I agree with you, I have chosen to start a thread based on suggestions to be successful this year in basketball. I hope you give us your thoughts and suggest maybe making a similar one over at football. Its not gonna change anything, but it keeps things basketball or football related without always stating the obvious. For me its up to Tom Crean to get it done this year. The tensions are obvious between both pro Crean and anti Crean camps here. Maybe this will take some pressure off until game time, but this won't help Hoosier football fans. The debates will soon start again once the games start playing.

BTown Banners guide to success 2013-14

I'm in agreement that using a zone helps with inside protection. It also slows down the game without forcing the tempo. Maybe a combo 1-3-1 zone strating at halfcourt with trapping employed in it may help, but this may channel penetrations to our bigs which has me concerned. We could wait until the ball gets into the deep corners before trapping and slide a guard over to the middle to protect the cutters. I think a trapping defense could also be changed lot so it would be hard for teams to game plan, but we're talking top coaches in our league.
