Self-taught here as well. Been playing roughly 20 years, but sadly haven't picked up the guitar for the past 8-10 months. Changed jobs, schedule, etc. by no means an expert either but I enjoy it. Right now I just have a Takamine acoustic. I never learned to use a pick so I fingerpick. I enjoy Leo Kottke, Chet Atkins, Vince Gill, Lindsey Buckingham. I think Crean sometimes gets a bad rap. Just saw a tweet that said "if that was IU losing to PSU, it would be Creans fault, but since it was Matta and OSU then they're struggling offensively". I thought that to be a fair jab. Sure, I do see some head-scratching moves but I'm not in daily practices nor do I think he's instructing his players to shoot bricks.
