Stan and Troy suspended for failed drug tests..
theriverpilot replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yes I am on here but I ain't in Indiana! So thank you for leaving me and my family out of this! I can't control what my son does when he is in someone else's hands. NO, I DONT LIKE WHAT HAPPENED AND I HAVE EXPRESSED MY FEELINGS ABOUT THE SITUATION TO MY SON AND THATS ALL I CAN SAY. Guys make mistakes but in the end, Troy is the one that has to suffer about his mistake. But I can tell you this. MY SON DID NOT PUT A BLOUNT OR A JOINT TO HIS MOUTH. BUT THATS ALL I CAN SAY. "In the wrong place at the wrong time and with the wrong PEOPLE will get you f'ed up in the end." Everyone that smiles in your face and pats you on your back AINT YOUR FRIEND!! He knows now so while yall folks are putting him down, think about your own past. I know everyone on this blog or whatever it's called, ain't been no angel or saint since you been born. This is on Troy and he is the one who has to live with on his head, not yall. But I feel like this, since he had to learn the hard way, I'm just glad it was now, instead of later. So go ahead and say what you want because I know you all will, just leave my name out my name out your mouths. Thank you -

Why am I not satisfied with 4 games? That's a rhetorical question btw. -

Double D laying down a truth bomb right now on 1070!
theriverpilot replied to Bk4life's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agreed with several things Dakich ranted about today, but his opinion on Holt wasn't one of them. Dan finds himself having to go for the "shock value" or else there are no listeners. No one likes boring. It's as simple as that for me and the shock jock schtick gets old. -
I'm a Gen X'er. I thought my world moved fast in my 20s and 30s, but it's nothing compared to what Millennials are experiencing. And same here, no unfavorable opinion either way. You have good people and jacktards in every generation.

I have to agree with you here, Kepner. I get what Dakich is saying and it needs to stop, but it's a lot easier to blast the criticism from outside in. -

My only issue so far with his rant is he keeps saying "a 17 yr old freshman runs his teammate over with a car!!". The situation wasn't perfect but the news that came out earlier made it seem Devin entered the roadway. This can't be 100% on Holt. Just poor judgment on both parts. -
Try it under water. It's pretty dang cool. Did that over the summer in Florida. In the ocean and pool. Also, I coach my son's 5th-6th grade football team. I used the head strap to put it on their helmets as they practiced plays. They'll all get a CD of it at season end.

IU vs Iowa Game Day Thread

Upgraded my iPhone to iOS 8.02 recently and I think it broke my ESPN App. Says Iowa has 38 points at halftime. Yep, has to be a broken app. *dws* -
Stinking UK practice on ESPNU now
theriverpilot replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
There's just no soul in that program. That's why I can't see how people support it. -
I have to say #2 and #3. This team lost several close games last year (UConn and Penn St come to mind), and I don't think the 17-15 record was an accurate representation of the team. This year's team adds more talent, plus they figure out how to win those close games.

This Started It All for Me
theriverpilot replied to FortWayneHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm in Evansville so it's almost an even mix of UK and IU fans. I remember watching IU games on local TV and Martha the broom lady leading off the broadcast. UK games were televised too but I hated the "atmosphere" of their games and play. Even back in the early 80s, UK seemed more like a mini NBA team than a college. Plus their fans were still arrogant and obnoxious back then. I just quickly loved watching the Hoosiers and that cool, white Indiana state on the floor. My sister went to IU in the mid 80s so that helped too. Of course, Calbert is my favorite player since he's from Evansville and same age. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
Whoa. I didn't realize Max was that tall. I thought he was 6'6" but he seems more like a 6'8" in relation to Hanner. And Holt is wide in the shoulders and looks strong in that pic Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I like this from Wilson. Build on this great win. Don't let it be the highlight of your season or your "bowl game". Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

(2016) PF T.J. Leaf to UCLA
theriverpilot replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Good ol' Purple Aces. Just finished grad school at UE. Brad Leaf was one of the best players they've had in their basketball history actually. Interview with Brad Leaf (after TJ was offered): On if IU is one of the leaders, at this point: “Oh, heck yeah. Yeah, definitely. They’ll always be seen as one of the leaders. This is 40 years of roots, for me and my wife. That’s all T.J. has heard since he’s been able to watch basketball.” Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners
Plus, he played for the Aces after the plane crash in the late 70's that nearly devastated the program, so you know he has emotional ties to the southern Indiana area. What's the difference between sitting a player due to lack of effort vs calling him out over social media? The twitter route is more anonymous but either way, you get the gist that the coach isn't pleased. And that's assuming his tweet is even aimed at anyone. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I've been doing something called Tabata since May. It's basically interval training you can do at home. For example, I'll do it with running. You sprint all out for 20 seconds then walk for 10. Sprint for 20 then walk for 10. Sounds easy but after 8 reps or 4 minutes, you're spent. I then walk another two miles then do another Tabata 4 minute session. There's a few free music tracks you can download that helps you out. I've also done the same format with planks and push-ups. You can basically do it with anything. I'm 44 now so this is more feasible for me since my heavy lifting days are over ;-) It's supposed to spike metabolism/fat burning along with toning. I'm happy with it so far.
