2010 vs 2011 recruiting classes - Which killed us more?
yogisballin replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yep, couldn't agree more -
I tried so hard to not get on here last night after the game. Knew this board has had enough of beating that dead horse. Just simply couldn't resist. One of those games that ANY normal bball fan could see.

1:18 left after the 2 crap FTs by Maryland after a terrible lane violation call. IUs NCAA hopes possibly on the line. Still think they are btw. We have obviously struggled offensively the entire 2nd half, also have 4 TOs. Why not use one? When RoJo (a freshman) with a little over 40 seconds remaining catches the ball on the sideline with no where to go. Why not use one? 3 remaining After some FTs by both teams MD with a 70-66 lead and 38 secs remaining and 3 TOs in your pocket. And then again with 29 secs left, GAME IS NOT OVER FOLKS. Still 3 TOs left. Refuses to call one and draw up a play, strategy, SOMETHING! Heck, at least act like your drawing one up. Even the TO he accidentally used when Yogi lost the ball with 17 secs to go. Then to draw up that sideline OB play or whatever you call that, was the best he came up with. But hey at least he called it. Only thing I can figure is he gets some type of incentive for taking TOs home with him?? Anyone have a clue here? I'll have to hand it to Turgeon on this one guys. He went into the locker room and made some adjustments on both ends. Did CTC have a counter? No! He said himself at the half, it's not the adjustments it's the rebounding. All I could was laugh at the guy. Reason so, for an undersized team I thought in the 1st half we rebounded well. Could it have been better, absolutely! The ONE play that we run for Holt in the 2nd half, showed it would work. At least with the lineup that MD was going with. Why not keep going to that and run a few plays through him in the post? Make your opponent make an adjustment on the fly. Just shown time and time again that this guy is a helluva associate head coach or lead recruiter and that's it! I'm so passionate about Indiana basketball and tonight I cannot sleep after this loss. It's not the effort that has me sleepless. No these kids fought hard, you could tell they wanted it. So I'll be like the rest of you all come Sunday evening. I'll be nervous about the selection show. I'll support this these kids. But how much more time is Fred going to give this guy? Sorry for rambling guys! I just know that with this undersized team. We are still better than Maryland is!

Agree with you but i think the case is stronger for not getting in more so than the other.

I understand that it wouldn't be wise for the coaching staff to reveal how bad this injury is. If anyone was at the game tonight, could you let us know what your feeling is? By seeing him walk back out of tunnel. Was he walking pretty gingerly? Or otherwise? Hope he is ok!!! Get well Hanner! Thanks in advance

Bubble Breakdown - March 12th
yogisballin replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
•Wow Texas with all that talent, has got to be on the outside looking in. How does Rick Barnes keep his job? •VCU as 5th seed in A-10, IMO still has work to do after only beating Fordham (rpi is 241) by 6 today. They play Richmond tomrw as VCU will be trying to avoid going 0-3 vs them this season •Ole Miss rpi is 50. Losing to S Carolina at the moment. 11-7 in SEC also finished the season 3-4. I think if they lose tonight they have to be out. •Miami(FL) are they out after losing a tough one to Notre Dame? I'm on the fence here. -
Indiana vs Northwestern Post Game Thread
yogisballin replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I really enjoyed seeing these kids play hard and with an effort. That was nice to see! So much easier to watch when they play hard like tonite. Now I'm looking forward to the Maryland game!!! Do we start Emmitt? I know I'm the furthest thing away from a college bball coach but I think I'd give him the nod. As Dakich mentioned several times, the kid is always moving and with his hands up ready to catch the ball. He also does his work on positioning before the shot goes up to prepare for the rebound. The experience would be invaluable for his development! Seems to have a really high bball IQ as well. All assuming HMP doesn't make it back, hope he can! Would also like to say that I was impressed with JBJs effort on defense tonight. First time I have said that all season. Great overall game kid. For the players, hope they can start building some momentum/confidence for Maryland tomrw. Should be very confident going into that game! Since most here has mentioned the effort tonight. For me this season would be a lot easier to swallow, if they had played this hard all season. Anyone else agree here? -
Looking like a 700+k per year for an extremely high strikeout rate! He has any and all resources available to succeed here and he is not close to doing that.

Potential fallout from coaching change

If we don't do it now we never will, we will probably be top 25 next year and that will be good enough for some of our fans and admins who only care about having a little fun and rooting really hard, not winning, which is all I care about. Crean will be a genius for taking a program that almost a decade ago had sanctions and by some divine intervention got them in the top 25, a truly super human coaching effort. Glass will give him an extension and I will run out of fuel for this battle and will be beaten into a submission of mediocrity. Where have been the last 20 years beside the run in 2002 and a couple of sweet 16 appeances a couple years ago. Your fuel should of ran out a while ago. From the last 20 years of watching Iu, mediocrity is where we r at. If u would like to be depressed look at our tournament results since 1994. If I knew how to provide a link I would, if someone else could provide it. Thank you
I absolutely agree with you on this. Some of my all time favorite IU players from the 2002 season but we all know it was a fluke. That for our program set us back even more after the knight fire. At the time yes, that was AWESOME! The last really good/consistent teams I remember is all of Alan Henderson's career at IU. Cried like a baby '92-93 season (I was 11) when we lost to Kansas (hated Rex Walters) in the elite 8. Watching IU basketball then was a "thing of beauty." Calbert, Alan, both Graham's, Nover, Bailey, Leary, Reynolds and B. Evans. That's when we were still elite guys. Year in year out we were EXPECTED to contend for B1G titles, top 10 in country, final four contenders. That's what I want us to be back to. I'm tired of talking about will 2 more wins get us in, if we lose to NU again he's gone, finishing 5-7 in B1G saves his job and would be exceeding expectations. That crap is way beyond old. -
Potential fallout from coaching change

I am BY FAR a Coach Crean fan but this is uncalled for. Not the kids fault his dad can't coach. Use a different wedge or another angle to get in his head. -
Why couldn't we get him? The timing couldn't be better IMO. Go ahead Fred, talk to Billy and get this set up.
-
It is very hard for me. You have no idea! I starting to catch myself hoping that CTC doesn't have the slightest of success so we can get the ball rolling on a new guy. I hate it for the kids on the team. But the sooner we can get it rolling the better for IU bball. Glass is prolonging the inevitable here.
-
I really hope we lose in all honesty
-
Bc CTC feels the need that we HAVE to be in that ***** 2-3 zone and every now and then try to mix it up halfway through the same possession, switch to man to man. It's pretty obvious, that zone is S***

Potential fallout from coaching change
yogisballin replied to HoosiersLoveBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
If Bryant commits and Crean stays (not saying that's what I want, but if it happens) I'll be really excited for next season, assuming Troy, Yogi and JBJ (definitely will IMO) all stay too. I think we could be really good next season. But the question that remains is, then what? After that season we'd definitely lose Yogi, most likely Troy and potentially JBJ and Bryant (don't think he's 1 and done, but it's not out of the question). Are we then in for 2-3 more years of 7th place finishes and laundry lists of excuses? The problem with Crean, at least to this point, is the highs aren't quite high enough, and the lows are too low and too frequent. [/quote I've been wanting Bryant just as much as the next guy here but, again I don't want him more. That's the truth! I don't want to see him have a somewhat successful season next year. Anything that would help him stay for another 2 more seasons seriously makes me nauseous. One more thing. Why do some of you guys want to give CTC pass on the season IF we make the tournament? Are you calling that a successful season? Even with the B1G being way way down this year? -
BB, I want to conduct an experiment...
yogisballin replied to swatford's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My answer I heck NO. But I am going to have to say unfortunately yes because our AD doesn't think we're elite enough to buyout this clown?? So I guess he's figuring why not one more year? Fred needs to go with him if he gives CTC yet ANOTHER chance -

I'm with u on this bro. On every single bit. Marshall would be 10 times better than what we have now. I'm trying my best to be nice and told myself tonight that I would stay away from here but I couldn't resist -
(2015) JUCO C Johnny Hamilton

Boy it does hurt. Him not starting for his current juco team? Maybe we actually have a chance with this one then. But hey, maybe he can start at IU -
