South End Zone Expansion/Stadium Renovation Thread
Gahoosierfan replied to RBB89's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Let's say that Coach Tom takes IU to the next level and begins winning 8 or 9 or more games yearly and the stadium begins selling out all 53,000 seats every game, would that lead to expansion adding more capacity? If they do that would they expand the east stands upward and wrap around the end zones? Also when I 69 finally reaches Indy by say 2022 that would make it easier for more fans to get to Btown to attend games. -
Don't count on Mark Emmert and the NCAA to hand out any real punishment to these teams. Remember they just let UNC off completely after they admitted to committing academic fraud for 18 years to keep players eligible. Emmert needs to be fired.

I can see the new apartment complex going up in the background. -

Tom Crean to be next Georgia coach / 6 year 3.2 Million annually
Gahoosierfan replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
UGA is not a basketball school, but they are passionate about sports. I very respectfully pointed out a couple of things about Crean on the WGAU FB page here and was immediately slapped down by diehard UGA fans. They think getting Crean is a major coup and don't want to entertain any other ideas. http://georgiadogs.com/sports/2017/6/16/stegeman-coliseum.aspx Crean's new home. -
Glass never should have given Crean and extension and raise. That is a major black mark on his record. He kept Crean around several years longer than he should have.

He is a mediocre coach. He is mostly just a salesman. He is good at selling himself. I think it is obvious he is not a good game coach. He won't do well at Georgia, just like he did poorly at IU. -

I'll never forget the 1st or 2nd round game in Omaha against Wichita State about 3 years ago. They had about 10 uncontested layups right up the middle. Crean never made any adjustment and lost the game. -

He has his work cut out for him. Stegman Coliseum is pretty much empty for home games. The gymnastics team sells out Stegman for every match. You can get a courtside seat for men's basketball just before tipoff. -
IU should be a public Ivy, but our trustees are more interested in quantity of students than they are in the quality of students. What is it now, 41,000? and I suspect they would like to see it reach 50,000. IU is not a selective school. About 70% of applicants get in. Compare that to Michigan, UNC, UVA, Notre Dame, Cal, etc. You'll see what I mean. Academically IU is rated very close to the bottom of the B10. Maybe ahead of Nebraska and Rutgers. It doesn't have to be that way. Tighten admissions. If Indiana kids can't get into IU they can get into ISU, BSU, USI, or Vincennes. The problem is the trustees are appointed based on their connections to the Republican party and then we have people with dubious qualifications running the show. IU is a good school that should be so much better.

It sure is sad that we are hoping to be at least a bubble team. Wow, just sad.

Since 2000, IU BB has been relevant in only about 3 seasons. It has to do with having a competent AD and good coaches.
-
It seems IU has a governance problem. It starts with the Board of Trustees. They are mainly just political hacks with no real talent for running a multi-billion dollar business. They make bad decisions in hiring presidents and ADs. This results in bad coaching hires. Look at universities with great athletic programs and the difference is in governance.

Our guard play still leaves a lot to be desired. The turnovers will kill us against good teams. -

Allen was the correct choice
Gahoosierfan replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I believe that if IU played in the B10 West this past year they would most likely have finished around 8-4 or even 9-3. -
The NCAA was supposed to release its report last Friday Oct 6. They have delayed it because of scheduling concerns. UNC was set to begin a multi billion dollar fundraising campaign on the 6th so the NCAA delayed the report. I don't know if this is a good or bad sign for them. It seems the NCAA didn't want to put a damper on their campus activities related to the kick off of the fundraiser. So this may mean bad news for UNC. http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/acc/unc/unc-now/article177205461.html

Should IU offer a "Sham" Academic Department in order to remain competitive for recruits?

It is time for all the power five commissioners to get together and agree to remove Emmert. He is beyond incompetent. -

UNC NCAA Infractions Report
Gahoosierfan replied to Gahoosierfan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I was listening to Rick Neuheisel on ESPN radio today and he thinks the NCAA most likely is going to come down hard on UNC. They certainly deserve it. He discussed the too big to fail idea, but thought that they were going to make an example out of them. -
Indiana vs Charleston Southern Game Thread - 10/7 330 ET on BTN
Gahoosierfan replied to Dalton26's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I was disappointed by the mistakes made especially on offense. They should have the kinks out by now. I hope Allen gives them a rough time over the turnovers. I was totally embarrassed by the IU fans . 99% left when the rain started . They are definitely fair weather fans. The stadium was empty. The announcer said he had done a lot of B10 games and had never done one in an empty stadium. Shame on all the fans that are afraid to get wet. -
Indiana @ Penn State Official Game Thread 9/30 - 330 on BTN
Gahoosierfan replied to Dalton26's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I sure hope Allen comes up with a way to stop the run. That would give us a fighting chance. -
I am so glad the Big Ten never seriously considered UL as a candidate. The ACC must feel really embarrassed right now. They should of known how shady Louisville was .
-
If Louisville and the other schools like Auburn, Arizona , etc were willing to cheat in basketball it seems likely they also did it in football.
-
ESPN is saying the they won't be surprised if UL gets the death penalty. I sincerely hope the FBI along with the NCAA are able to clean up college sports.
