OT: IU Tweets Kentucky Loss Thread
Gahoosierfan replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Will the UK fans turn on Calipari? -
I really think it all starts with governance. The Trustees set the tone. Their lack of concern makes its way down the food chain. I have never heard McRobbie comment in any way about whats happening. I can't imagine this kind of casual attitude on the part of trustees and presidents at places like OSU, MSU, UW, PSU, and many other places.

I was at a restaurant and saw Dakich on ESPN talking about IU. I didn't catch it all, but he was really critical of Crean.

Tom Crean to Alabama Rumor Thread
Gahoosierfan replied to birdy_19's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think Crean and Glass both know how disappointed the fan base is at this point. I also think that they both know a first round loss would ratchet up the ire of the fans to an unbearable level for awhile. The trustees also are feeling it so todays game is pretty important for TC and FG. If things should go badly watch out. If IU looks good and wins and is respectable against KU then its a whole different story. -
Are we good enough to dance?
Gahoosierfan replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think Glass feels obligated to stick with Crean, otherwise he looks bad for giving him the obscenely generous contract extension. It seems we need a new AD . Glass looks good because of the budget, but that is mostly attributable to BTN money. He is a lawyer and in over his head. -
Potential coaching change suggestions
Gahoosierfan replied to Bryan Medema's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I have been thinking about what it would take to bring IU back to the top 10 and top 20 on a yearly basis. I think the best thing to do is look at programs that are always near the top. They always start with an AD that makes good choices. By that I mean an AD that knows college athletics and can evaluate coaching candidates intelligently. In the past their seems to have been too much emphasis on finding and Indiana guy for both football and basketball. If Alabama did this they never would have hired Satan, if Kentucky did this they never would have hired Calipari. The best qualifications a coach can have relate directly to past success. Have they had a program consistently in the top 20, do they recruit well, do the now how to be a good floor coach, can they handle the media, are they rock solid in their personal life. I can think of more but you get the idea. If Glass pulls the trigger, and he should, he needs to do it intelligently. -
Potential fallout from coaching change
Gahoosierfan replied to HoosiersLoveBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The article states that Crean gets $11 million if he is fired after April 1. So why not fire him on March 31. This team isn't going anywhere anyway. I blame Glass for all this . It was a bad hire to begin with and yes I stated that vociferously when it happened. -

Not say crean is bad coach just questioning some of his choice
Gahoosierfan replied to Hoosiers High Life's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't want to be a downer, but I have been wondering what the fallout would be if we loose one of the two remaining games to finish at 20-11 and then fail to win the B10 tournament opener which is quite possible. IU would most likely be an 11 or 12 seed if they get in the NCAA and would very likely be a quick one loss and out team. I think Glass would be under tremendous pressure. I know Doyel in the Indy Star would go after him to act. -

Gahoosierfan replied to Hoosiers High Life's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I sincerely hope Glass is paying attention to the program. One would assume he is. Its going in the wrong direction. We have a coach that will never make this into a top ten or even a top twenty five program on a yearly basis. What needs to be done is obvious. -
I wouldn't rate Crean as one of the top 25 coaches in Division 1.

IUBB vs. Eastern Washington Post Game Thread
Gahoosierfan replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The good news is that Crean is gone at the end of the season. This of course will be a long awful season as I expected. Hopefully Glass will not make another bad hire like this. -
I am always hopeful before the season starts but I am usually disappointed. Over the last 22 years we have had only 3 or 4 good seasons. IU has mostly been irrelevant on the national radar. The early polls don't have IU in the top 40 so I guess this will be another long painful affair. Will Crean survive another year like last year?

This season is like nearly all IU seasons. Nothing ever changes, except we fire a coach and then hire another pathetic coach.

(2014) SF Josh Cunningham to Bradley
Gahoosierfan replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Baltimore Hoosier, I think you epitomize what is wrong with IU basketball. You are willing to settle for a pretty good team every few years. Most of us want IU to compete on the level of UK, UConn, MSU, UM, Wisconsin, etc. We are not willing to let IU be a mediocre team that hovers around the top 25 every few years. That is not good enough. -
Indiana Rivals predicts us to finish 9th next season
Gahoosierfan replied to NotTheReal HoosierHoopster's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
All I can say is that if IU looses more than 12 games next season, Glass will be under unbelievable pressure to dump Crean. I expect next season to be very similar to this season with maybe 14 or 15 looses and that should be the end of Crean. Then it will be up to Glass to earn his pay and get a top coach that can really be a game coach. -
Tired of the fire CTC threads
Gahoosierfan replied to Andrew-_-44's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
If TC is fired after next season, which will be a repeat of this season, no other top 30 program will go after him . He will be one of those guys that goes down to a lower level program the way Davis did. It was a mistake to hire him. I think he got hired because our AD thought none of the top names would be interested in IU after the melt down caused by AD Doninger and Coach Davis. Crean is a recruiter and not a coach. That should be his role at some other school. We need a top guy. What about Bennet at UVA? I have long thought IU suffered from structural problems with governance. 9 of the 12 trustees on the board are appointed by the governor, which means they are basically political suck ups with limited ability to manage a massive university system. They would have a hard time running a hot dog stand on a good day. Their lack of ability translates itself down the line through bad management choices like Herbert and Doninger. This makes it hard to raise up the institution. Do you think places like UW, UM, MSU, etc have our level of management?
