I know it has been said that we wait until end of season to announce anything, but honestly, I wish they would make the announcement now (assuming decision has been made) so that we could give Crean a proper send off for what he has done for IU. He has maxed out and should have been gone long time ago, but he brought us back from Sampson and gave us the Watshot and for that alone, I'm thankful for him being here. Honestly guys, I am not sure what he is saying is that far fetched. It puts a lot of strange pieces of information and at times conflicting information into a very plausible picture. I haven't really seen anyone pick up on this except one person a page or two back, but Creans speech tonight seemed a little odd in person to me and I've seen a good number of his senior night speeches. He talked about options and his senior night and then "corrected himself" by saying his family's senior night. His reaction when he said that seemed odd. On the Fife information, I know it seems out there but to me it honestly makes more sense then just keeping in touch with him for future purposes. If you are truly looking for a coach for future your hoping he's here 15-20 or more years, at that time Fife will be established and if he is good, will be at a destination job. Contacting him at this point makes no sense but would in the given scenario. I just think a lot of you are so quick to disregard information. I understand a lot of rumors turn out to be not true but I'm not sure if I would dismiss this so vigorously. I don't know, maybe I'm just too trusting I guess. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I agree with the point of this post, not sure I agree that Bennett is that but he could. I think a lot of people are putting too much stock in this or that stat, this or that ken pom ranking, this or that metric. I simply want a coach who coaches players up to or beyond their ability consistently, knows how to fit his system to the players he has, makes the in game adjustments needed, causes other teams to match up to us, and finally is consistently competing at the top of the conference and top 25 of the NCAA. In other words, I want them to pass the eye test. This gives us a chance to make a run each year even if they get bounced earlier than they should occasionally. Upsets will happen and the deep runs will even this out but at least to be consistently in the conversation each year will help ensure deeper runs happen more frequently. The more frequent you can get deeper runs, the better chances at banner 6, 7 and 8. Some of the stats being thrown around are great but give me the eye test over stats any day if I am forced to choose between the two. Use both in conjunction and then you have something but I just feel too many people are using analytics in too much of a vacuum.

I am talking about the Season he left Butler to go to Boston. Stevens said IU was his dream Job. If we would have fired Crean and offered Stevens, he would absolutely be our coach. Actually, I just looked it up and Stevens left a season earlier than I initially thought but even still, Crean should have been fired after the embarrassment that was Syracuse anyway so the timeline still fits. And I would take Marshall over anyone not named Stevens, Donavon, Wright, Pitino (Rick), that is on our somewhat realistic list. I agree though, Shaka is terrible!

Waiting absolutely screwed us. If we would have made the change when we should have, Stevens would be coach here right now and I highly doubt he would have left IU to take the Boston job right after taking the IU job. I could be wrong on that, but really don't think I am.
