Starting to feel better considering I haven't seen anything in the press about an actual press conference today at 6:00. However, if he was announced as gone prior to a Home NIT game, he would be cheered. If nothing is announced, it could be VERY ugly. If you are waiting on Donovan before announcing anything, leak the information so you don't see the hostile crowd at the home NIT game. Get enough of the right people talking to make the fans feel comfortable during the NIT.

Could this be the diversion everyone was talking about? Doubt it, I'll be absolutely sick if he is not let go.

That is why the B1G needs to go back to a true round robin schedule. I realize that means 26 conference games at this point but hey that would help solve our weak non conference scheduling issue. Have the NCAA move the max number of games a team can play up to 35 and that would allow for 9 non conference games and start the season a week or two earlier.

I really hope that we announce Crean as gone (or staying ugh) after BTT, because I really want to root for this team if they make a post season tourney without worrying if it's going to save Creans job. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I agree but have him win in dominance, didn't like the Jericho "interference" angle and at least have the match go 1 or 2 minutes of action, not KO stalling. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

That is fair, and maybe attitude was the complete wrong word to use, but the attitude I was talking about is his demeanor on the court. I don't care if he is a little intense on the sideline at the refs or his team, we need more of that in my opinion. What we don't need is over clapping, coddling, and whining and I don't see any of that with Marshall. Now before I get blasted about whining, I am talking about the Izzo, Webber, Groce (even Thomas Bryant), etc, type of whining. I am not referring to arguing obvious calls and talking with officials when your team is getting screwed because the officials are terrible these days and seem to be getting worse. But Izzo, Webber and Groce seem to whine about every single call that doesn't go their way and I have not seen this from Marshall. Speaking in terms of how you took what I meant as attitude, yes, obviously he needs to treat people respectfully and needs to represent the University in a respectful way. I haven't heard of any issues involving him and off the court issues. And the school where he is at, seems pretty happy with him and wants to keep him (great salary for a small school) so I don't see any glaring issues there.

Having said all that give me Donovan and put all this to rest! I think we can mostly all agree with that. [emoji2] Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

And that's a fair answer. I just don't get the hate for Marshall and want to understand why, when he has been as successful if not more successful than other names mentioned. And don't get me wrong, I respect that that it is your opinion. I mean after all if no one had opinions this would be a boring world. Opinions though are formed based on something and I just ask that every one keep their opinions open and watch these guys coach and see if that's what you want to see at IU. If it is great and say that's why. We may not always agree on the style of play and that's fine. But if your unsure why, then give them another chance to form that opinion. Just like when I watched Shaka at VCU, I knew I didn't want him because his success is Gimmick related. I watched Archie and his teams style of play reminds me of Crean with defense and I don't prefer that style. He runs the stupid weave/ dribble drive crap that Crean runs which I hate. I would still take him over Crean based on the defense alone, but again not over other names. There is more risk and not sure there is more reward over the other names. I have watched Marshall and I do like his teams style of play. Combine that with his history and stats and that's where I'm at. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  14. Exactly, our down years should be an 8 or 9 seed in the Tourney

Ok, so then why do you think that? Don't give me age, looks or attitude as a reason for not wanting him because looks and attitude are the dumbest reasons for not wanting him. Age within limits but he still has 10-15 years coaching (assuming his health is fine, I don't have stats to say it is or isn't but assuming its fine). Donovan is only 2 years younger than Marshall. The only thing unknown about Marshall is how he would do at a power conference school in the tourney but his past record shows success in Tourneys with "like" teams which lets be real, a power 5 school is a "like" team in the NCAA, not the mid major teams. Just look a the past 32 winners and really I could keep going. All of them from power conferences. What has you sold on Archie at a power conference school? Only thing that he has going for him over Marshall is age. Watching Archie's games reminds me of Crean 2.0 just with defense. Now the defense alone would be enough for me to take him over Crean, but not over any of the others. His sample size is very small so to say he is proven is wrong. He is highly touted, but so are others who haven't panned out at power conference schools. (ie, Groce, Shaka, etc). I just think the love for Archie is overblown and the hate for Marshall is overblown. Again, I would take either, but with this hire, I'd rather have the more proven guy even if he isn't going to stay as long as the unproven one "COULD".

I think Marshall would be an absolute home run hire. Maybe not the Grand slam that Stevens or Donovan would be, but Marshall is certainly proven he can win against "like" teams and with far less talent than he would get at a major program. He is definitely way above Crean. He is more proven then Archie. Archie could be better in the long run, or he could be a fluke. I also think Sean Miller would be a home run hire. Bennett and Archie would be definite upgrades over Crean but S. Miller and G. Marshall would be home run hires. And this is just looking at their stats, not even bringing the eye test into it since that can be objective. How? Maybe if we have a new coach but even then unlikely, unless some unexpected players stay or commit to us with that new coach. If Crean stays we are terrible next year. With a new coach we will be better than this year for sure (assuming next years roster is what you would expect it to be after transfers, NBA, and current recruits). But as others have said, put this years team in the hands of a good coach and elite 8/FF would be closer to expectation than not making the tourney. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
