If you are in Indiana, be careful. I think the gale force winds are starting due to the large exhale of relief that is spreading throughout the state right now.

Game Thread: Indiana Hoosiers vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights
CrossboneIU22 replied to IUc2016's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
If this is Archies last game for IU and he knows it, then I fully expect him to go off on these refs and pick up 2 T's and thrown out once he knows the game is out of hand. -

Here is the problem with the next coaching hire. There are only 2 candidates that fit what everyone wants in the next coach but the likelihood of either one coming is extremely slim (Donavan and Stevens). Beyond those two, anyone else who fits what most want in the next coach are older and near then end of their careers than we like or have health concerns (Belien, Matta, etc.). So the next category of coaches are younger coaches with a lot more time remaining in their coaching careers. But very few if any of them have proven themselves in a way IU fans expect so it’s viewed as an un-enthused hire (Fife along with many others mentioned in this thread) . And if they have proven themselves, they most likely are not leaving there current job for IU (Beard, Drew, Few, Mack, etc). Then the last category are assistant coaches who have little to no head coaching experience to speak off but are highly thought of, who would most certainly be viewed as a terrible hire by most IU fans (Like a Tom Allen or Painters Assistant). So that pretty much puts this hire in a lose lose situation no matter what unless it’s Donavan or Stevens. Or the new hire pulls a Tom Allen or a Bob Knight and builds this thing up to be a successful even though the initial reaction is terrible. It just seems like we are chasing a unicorn for a head coach and that is about as low as a program can get in my opinion. My point in saying this though is that we need to be far less concerned about what someone has accomplished in the NCAA tourney and more focused on their ability to develop players, run offense and defense that maximize the talents of their players, and can do more with less against equivalent or greater competition. If they can do that, they should deserve a chance to prove themselves here at IU without the fans being negative from the start. -

With these two teams that might take longer than an actual half of a normal college basketball game. -

Who transferred? -
Best thing that could happen to IU after this game is someone tests positive for COVID with no symptoms and remainder of the season is paused/cancelled.

Anyone have Durham’s +\- so far tonight? Just curious as he is not a bad player but we just look and feel better when he is not in the game. We are going to need him to pull this game out but just feels like we play better without him for some reason. Just curious what the numbers show? -

I haven’t had a chance to get caught up on this thread so I apologize if this has already been said but here is what I would look for in a new coach when one is needed: 1. A coach who develops players and finds ways to get the most out of his players. 2. A coach who really understands X’s and O’s on both ends of the court but especially Offense. 3. A coach that wins with lesser talent. (The talent will be easier to get at a school like IU, but you cannot just rely on that talent) 4. A coach who adapts to the teams strength from year to year, team to team. 5. A coach that has shown he can build a program You find someone who meets these requirements and I really think you will have a coach who is successful and brings IU back to the big stage consistently. Everything else will fall in place. -
I agree but I’d at least approach them about it and make them turn me down.

Coaches I’d be looking at if we were to replace Miller would be: Stevens Few Donavan Beilen Beard Collins Bennett
