This is the only time I’ve ever liked Brad Davison. Avoided the scrum, let’s sing with our fans.

Easy to say from the comfort of my home, but if I’d made $150M in the league and I thought Wisconsin was constantly cheap and dirty, I’d walk into the presser instead of swinging, and say: ”The max the league can fine me is $10k so you’re going to get your money’s worth. Before every Wisconsin game we show the officiating crew videos of Davison hitting screeners in the balls and making dangerous plays. Then today he does it to our all-American. The league won’t discipline him or the team. They’ve got coaches on their bench who encourage it, and who goad opponents on. It’s bush league. The conference knows because every other coach and department in the league tells them constantly. They’ve got the videos, so do officials, and they look the other way. I’m telling you all, and I’ll pay the fine, because they won’t change when we use the appropriate channels to file our complaints. The fine is more than worth it for the attention this will get when you print it. And if anyone wants to chip in, you can Venmo me.”

(2023) - SF Kwame Evans
lillurk replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Kwame posted “what’s the word” and allowed replies. Someone replied “future Indiana commit [eyes]” privately to Kwame. He posted that private comment publicly, with a pic of himself, tagging JHS, with the ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Possible JHS reposted that, but what we have here is a screenshot of Kwame’s question+reply+photo -

Xavier Booker do not read this … Kaleb Glenn…hello -
Yep if you’ve got power you’ve got a duty to use it. Good for Bilas. I actually thought he was relatively restrained when Brad Davison conspired with the officials to give Wisconsin an extrajudicial possession vs. IU this week. Obviously IU was bad down the stretch but they would’ve had the ball, :20 on the shot clock, up 1 with about a minute left. Hard to imagine that wouldn’t have at least changed the balance of the remainder of the game.

I would guess both/and, plus with late blooming bigs there’s the question of if it will translate to a higher level of competition -
(2022) PG Adou Thiero to Kentucky
lillurk replied to HoosierHoops1's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Three things to throw a wrench in HS/AAU 3pt% discussions: 1. Data’s unreliable and hard to find, as @brumdog45 illustrates. 2. Sometimes whether a guy has a green light at all is an important indicator developmentally. 3. I recall chasing down #s for Lander’s HS and AAU shooting. Across more than a couple hundred attempts he was 38%: very good for high volume. But so far, he’s 29% career. His whole frosh year was a shooting funk, yes, but that’s the point -

6’6”, 6’10”, or anywhere in between, I like this guy if you either 1. think he’s a top ~125 senior hiding in plain sight and yet unranked, and/or 2. If he’s not quite that, if you’ve got space for him to bloom at the end of the bench for a year or two. Height+skill+shooting+character and a bit of a late developer is a heck of a lottery ticket. -
Bad news for Oregon is good news for the Hoosiers, more cushion if IU can take care of its own business

Also Rutgers has done all their work, except besting Wisconsin, in Piscataway. So that’s not a bridge too far just yet.
-
Appreciate this re: Rutgers. Two things to remember embedded here: 1. Committee doesn’t use conference record as a criteria, and 2. Last ten aren’t weighted anymore. So while Rutgers has had a crazy good run, if they indeed drop 4 of six, including @IU, they may not surpass an IU team that goes say 3-2 down the stretch.

Don’t disagree but Race, Jordan, X, and Parker each got called for a foul that was, hmm, suspect -

Good problem to have. Most of these guys are big enough to play three of them at the same time. -
Yeah that’s not going to work

IUBB Recruit Rankings

Not sure in his specific case, but he may be featured on his AAU team. In addition, recruiting services surely get eyes on practice at the big academy/factory spots -

The missteps also provide a natural breaking point in the lineup without telling someone they’re benched for play. E.g. Galloway starts now because he’s earned it, and if Stew wants to start he can prove he’s committed to the team on and off court, to paraphrase CMW. For purely basketball reasons, should either start over Kopp? Yes. But there’s no universe where even a slumping Kopp is playing zero minutes, so if he’s a token starter but plays less than Gallo/Stew/healthy Phin, so be it, at least for now. -
I thought this was about watching and enjoying aesthetically pleasing teams but I keep seeing Wisconsin mentioned? I find them very unpleasant to watch (Johnny Davis excepted) unless they’re getting thumped

Can’t do it well against Dickinson or Kofi but I’m surprised Painter hasn’t tried much small ball Furst/Gillis front court combos to staunch the defense somewhat.

Yes. I have no interest in arguing, and I’m frustrated when we lose or when players are suspended. I think we mostly all agree that 1. making the dance will make this year a success (especially coupled with the Purdue win in hand), and 2. that’s the beginning of program stabilization, not the end. We were never going to know if IU was “back” to being a top ten program, year-in and year-out, this year. -

Scoring 27 of your team’s 52 on only 12 shots is 1) awesome, and 2) good evidence you should get more shots. I suppose you want to avoid overtaxing a frosh workload, but man -

If they’re all dressed and all but Stewart warming up, wonder if it’s a partial-game suspension (?), as we assumed happened the game Stewart sat the whole first half
