They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
monskisprodigy replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
So what I can gather from Tyme and SDB is...it's the fans fault for having too high of expectations for the program. It's not all on the coach, and there are problems with the program that the coach can't fix...even a coach that was given $6 million to build a roster, that those same burners were bragging about in the off season...now that it's not working, those deep rooted problems are again the issue. To fix it, you have to burn it down to the ground, and then have zero expectations for the new coach or team in order for that coach to be able to be successful? Fan expectations are killing our coaches and keeping top talent from wanting to play here. Am I getting that right? -

I saw the blow by, but he immediately was going after the ref. Wonder if that comment was directed toward the ref, not Woody. -

Tucker is lost on defense. Out of position, late to recover, gives up rebounds. He's young and will learn. But he gave back his 4 points and then some on the defensive end. Goode also sat for too long. Kid is on a hot streak, and needs to be on the floor as much as possible. Also thought Carlyle had a decent half. Finally knocked down a three, was playing hard on defense, but picked up a couple ticky tack fouls. -

That's wild...leading Indiana to the CFP with a torn ACL. GOAT Status. I guess I will quit telling my wife about my stubbed toe from this morning...I walked all the way to my office chair across the house, thought it was truly a brave act... -

They are playing hard tonight, and knocking down shots. Even without Harper, this has been a much better showing for the boys -
Street clothes Georgia player likely just cost them a TD with that sideline interference....yikes.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

Lyonel Anderson was his name. I vaguely remember hearing crazy stories about him all the time...if my memory serves me right, one story was that while at IU he delivered his baby in the car in the parking lot of the hospital or somewhere near it. -

We probably crossed paths that night...upstairs bar by the dance floor. Our favorite bartender worked up there solely...was over served far too many times to count. The good ole' days. But...I agree, IU Players have been going out to the bars, during the season, for a long, long time...even the nights before games. I am confident that kids partying is not just an IU problem. The difference between us and other successful programs is that there is a large contingent of IU fans very unhappy with the program, Woodson and the players, and thus...pictures like this surface knowing it will reflect bad on a coach they want fired and a program they are unhappy with. The accessibility of the internet and ability to share information at ease is a part of this, but IMO, other big time programs seemingly not dealing with / having these issues brought to light is not a product of players not partying or going out, but more to do with a fanbase at those programs unwilling to compromise the success of their team and looking the other way. People may not agree with players doing certain things, but you have to be in a pretty bad spot as a program IMO for fans to intentionally do things that will be detrimental to the players and team they follow / support. -

No other college in the country would have paid Mike Woodson $4.5 million to coach their program. The “market”, is his Alma Mater where his best buddy and a couple deep pockets were able to get him the job. Plain and simple. Mike Woodson just isn’t a good college coach, and the market will soon show that if he’s let go and doesn’t retire. -

Not doubting you or this…because I have seen it posted on here several times, and it was even mentioned on the hysterics podcast (Not a big hysterics guys…but I listened for the drama) episode with Brian Evans where they said it was a fact that he didn’t report to Dolson. Is this actually true? And if so, who does he report to? -

Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to win, but I wasn’t worried about us losing. Amazing season… What I was worried about was us losing badly, playing terrible, and keeping this narrative alive that we didn’t belong. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such a driven agenda to crap on a team. That narrative was set before the game even started, and our Punting, tackling, game management, etc. surely didn’t help us any. But the reality is…We went 11-1 (before last night) in the “second” best P4 conference and curb stomped everyone along the way. With a roster not as talented as ND, we lost by 10 on the road in a difficult environment while playing like dog crap to the team a lot of pundits have picked to win the whole dang thing. The media better dog walk every other CFP team that loses outside the spread and call them unworthy…but we know they won’t. Let them hate, let the chip continue to build and come back hungry next year.

Cig was trying to be friendly….freeman wanted nothing to do with it haha.

What exactly did he say? I missed that.

So in the end…we lose by 10 on the road to Notre dame and played like dog crap the majority of the game haha

Frustrating to put together a drive when it doesn’t matter haha.
