Curious why Tucker DeVries hasn't been officially announced to Indiana yet, if that is the plan as we all assume it is. With the mass exodus, a little good news never hurts ha-ha. -
Darian DeVries - New IUBB Head Coach

Don with a jab at Mike Woodson here while talking to Coyle... The two were talking about Don meeting with DeVries, and him specifically asking about the coaching staff. Coyle - "Did he know who you are Don, I mean he's just not talking to anybody, but he was talking to you" Don - "Yeah well, that doesn't mean a thing. Trust me. Ask Mike Woodson" https://x.com/IUfaithful89/status/1904592811631976706 -

DeVries definitively has more D1 experience. But to note, McCollum is from Iowa City, raised in Storm Lake. I read that his mom has a degree from Iowa, he grew up a Hawkeye fan and it has been reported that's the job he wants. Will be interested to see what Iowa does here, and if they can pull DeVries from WVU. -

Should we be settle with hiring Iowa's backup? Not trying to be snarky...but I still feel like we can shoot hire than that. -

Here's a question... I'm a college bball journalist with a decent following...agents approach me to put out buzz about their coach, to get them a raise, extension, or for their desired school to feel pressure to make a move. But...with a little kick-back if it works to their favor. Think this ever happens? -

I don't see DeVries leaving WVU for Iowa. I think a strong argument could be made that WVU is a better job, unless he just really wants to go home and coach at Iowa. Also, is Iowa going to pay his buy-out, up his salary and have money for NIL? WVU could match anything thrown at him I'd assume. Now, for McCollum...makes absolute sense. -

Posting for those that haven't seen it...not to get into a Wade should get the job over X candidate argument. In Goodman interview posted yesterday said he's not leaving McNeese for the first thing that comes on the track. Looking at opportunities, he will only jump if he feels like the staff, NIL and resources are in place to win a national championship. Wants to be at his next stop for a long period of time, doesn't want to keep moving his family, daughter, etc. https://x.com/TheFieldOf68/status/1900247841081082100 -

I have been vocal that I'm not sold on McCollum and the risk there. But I think you can sell it to the fans (young up and comer, won at a high clip everywhere, basketball mind, respected by big time coaches, etc.) and I would rally, get behind it and cheer like hell. Brownell...that would just be so incredibly sad. Not sure how you justify or sell him to the fan base. I would honestly almost rather keep Woodson a couple more years, in hopes of getting someone better in a cycle or two, than hire Brownell. I'm not hoping for a coach that's been on the perennial hot seat and just a smidge better than Woodson (EDIT: I am aware Brownell made an Elite 8)...I am hoping for someone that can wake the sleeping giant. -

If it is Mccollum, I will still root like hell and support the program. But I will go on record that I am not sold. Humbling hire IMO. He will have all the resources and chance to prove a lot of us wrong. Which will be welcomed. -

BREAKING NEWS: Indiana Hoosiers hire Greg Tonagel as the 31st Head Coach to lead the Historic Program. All kidding aside, I remember a time when his name was being tossed around in prior searches haha. Surprised he hasn't tried to make the jump...must love small town Indiana, the community and raising his family there. -

Absolutely, NP. I have never felt confident we were going to land a stevens, pearl, oats, drew, which I would put in the big name category. We saw the with KY job, its harder to get guys to jump in this day and age. But I hope/hoped there were some names just below that group that we would tap before we'd hit the mid-major circuit. Given how quiet this search has been, still a possibility. If it ends up being a mid-major guy, I will root like hell, and continue to support the Hoosiers like I have for the last almost 40 years. IU is the only team I follow...not an NBA, NFL, MLB guy...it's IU and IU only. -

I think it would at a minimum, put him in a very uncomfortable position. Hope it doesn't come to that...but my point being, I feel like Dolson had to be comfortable with the options on the table, understanding the importance of the next hire, before making a move on from Woodson. With that, I have trouble believing the list that made him move was mid-majors. -

The questions that I keep coming back to.... This hire could, if wrong, cost Dolson his job IMO...he got the football hire right (so it appears after year 1), but this is a different animal. Get this wrong, again...and it will get ugly. With that in mind, does Dolson roll the dice on mid-major guy, with that much on the line? And if it's a roll of the dice or a mid-major guy, given all the leg work he surely would have done to feel comfortable with the prospects, would he have moved on from Woodson? -

Wasn't lumping him in the big fish category. But I'd probably take him over most of the mid-major guys if we swing and miss on the big fish. -

I’m seeing articles where he was saying this back in November, before we played them. Said he grew up an Indiana fan, Alford was his favorite player. Did he say something else recently? -
