Perea not with Team due to VISA issues
Chips&Dipo replied to djsalway's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
For what it is worth... I work at a private practice as a legal intern. One of the defense attorneys just had a case come across his desk about a person who got a DUI and wanted to go to Canada. Canada is very strict about that apparently and the only way they will honor visa is if you can some how get a waiver. The attorney was shocked by this and he is like 100. SO apparently there is a VISA block for individuals that get DUIs that might be uncommon to most. -
Goes to show you that depression is a serious thing if not treated. It can affect anyone. It's tragic, but hopefully this will help cast some light so deaths like this never happen to anyone.

FGA and FGM doesn't mean 2 point shots. They mean Field Goals in general. So he only took 3 shots all game 2 of which went in. They all were 3 pointers. -

Haha, I meant my above comment. Not yours. You beat me to the punch to be the comment under mine. -

Also, the above comment isn't an attack on anyone here (I didn't read all the comments) just something I saw on twitter hit the wrong nerve in me. -
Indiana vs. Ottawa Game Thread

Just a thought about people automatically assuming that there is no way a canadian team could beat an american team think about this... The past two #1 picks in the NBA drafts have been canadian nationals (Bennett and Wiggins). Canada all the sudden has been producing tons of basketball talent (look at the recent big we are trying to get last second who decommitted to Oregon). the reigning B1G POY was a Canadian national. Now correct me if I am wrong, but this is a recent phenomenon of having a massive amount of Canadian players playing for USA colleges. The players that IU played against yesterday seemed to be older (22-24?), at least that is what I have been hearing. I haven't done the research, so someone please correct me if this assumption turns out to be false. So, assuming that people from Canada have been playing basketball longer than 3 years, players that today may have went to a college here in the good ole USA instead played basketball for Canadian teams and developed their skills there. Not saying that the opposing teams players are NBA caliber or anything. Just players that if they had been playing in high school in today's world would maybe have gotten some attention from American Colleges. Just a thought I had while reading some tweets and such about the game. I find the whole attitude of "They are Canadian, they must suck 'cause 'merica" attitude funny. I love my country, but to just cast off people and programs of other countries simply because they are other countries doesn't hold any merit in my opinion. -
Best NCAA coach in the game right now?

The only player of any significance during Crean's tenure that transferred is Fisher. -

Few has been 2-5 or something similar in the past 2 or 3 years against top 25 teams. He was 0-2 last year. CTC was better than that! -
Best NCAA coach in the game right now?

I see that argument, however, Few's most successful seasons have been with players like Adam "Crazy Stash" Morrison and Kelly "Long hair, Don't Care" Olynyk. Both of whom were All American's. Again I see your argument and that is a strong one. Few just never beats ranked teams (0-2 last year) and does arguably under performs in the post season. -

I always see people say Few and I have never understood it. Can someone tell me why Few is always high on peoples lists? -
I am a bit of a nerd and was a History Major, so something I think that is really cool that a lot of people don't take advantage of that is completely free is the Lily Library. On a free afternoon check it out. It has manuscripts of books that are four hundred + years old. They have a copy of the Gutenberg Bible all the way to things like oscars and grammys of famous IU grads and affiliates. Art museum is right across the street too and that is also pretty neat. Also, I recommend checking out a movie at the relatively new IU Movie Theatre. A lot of movies are free or at most $3 for students. They have classics as well as new indie films. I partied and all that when I was in college and complete condone all those types of social experiences. However, take advantage of the academic and other things of that nature that IU has to offer. Also, tailgating for IUFB and IUBaseB and waiting in the GA line for IUBB.

Best NCAA coach in the game right now?

My only thing about Coach K is that 2 out of the last 3 years his teams have been knocked out of the first round despite being extremely heavy favorites and having arguably the best basketball players in the country. Billy Donovan is a good one. Every year I assume his teams won't do well in the tournament because they play in the SEC, and every year his teams go deep into the tournament. I'll just go with Bo Ryan. He does the most without getting top ten recruits every year. He has a game plan, recruits around that game plan, and wins. . . . . . I now realize Bo doesn't have any championships, which opens me up to criticism. So I change my answer to Izzo for similar reasons to Bo (except he gets better talent). I am sure to change my answer many times again. -
I would go to IU because I have been indoctrinated since I was a baby to love the city of Bloomington. From IU basketball to Nick's English Hut to The Kinsey Institute.

The game that Lance "went off in" (which Pacer's still lost and he blew in James' ear) he had TWO POINTS IN THE FOURTH QUARTER....
-
Examples of why I stopped watching National Sports coverage. I haven't had cable in over a year, which means no ESPN. So, I get all my sports coverage from local radio, newspapers, or online articles. Because writing actually takes cognitive thought, a lot of the crazy ESPN personalities don't contribute to articles(or if they do, it is once a month). It has been really liberating. The only time I watch ESPN is for a game and most of the time I am at a bar, so you can't hear those guys anyway. The Pacer's will be fine. I am hoping that Bledsoe and the Suns agree to terms and the Sun's will be more apt to trade Dragic. Probably not going to happen, but hopeful. Either way, I am of the opinion that the Pacers will be fine regardless if they can secure a PG. Speaking of PG, did he fall off the face of the Earth? I am of the opinion that the success of next year's Pacers rests on the shoulders of Paul and his development (which, I believe will be high given his attitude and his forced maturity during the season and off season). This whole thing that Lance was the only one who showed up in the playoffs is garbage. PG averaged over 20 throughout, but didn't grab the headlines because of Roy's demise and Lance's antics. I have faith in PG. Sorry for the long post.

They are carving out football players down there in Bloomington!
-
I saw where Davis was benching 285! That seems like an absurd amount for a basketball player!
-
Perhaps our definitions of socially awkward differ then. Agree to disagree!
-
Crean is many things, but socially awkward is not one of them. He is extremely charismatic. Whether on the radio, in a large lecture hall, or just passing by in public. He could sell water to a fish. Not like Irsay at all.
-
Coaches use this tactic all the time though? Right? When I was in high school, my coach would subliminally talk about a player without using their names all the time in order to try and get more out of them. Granted that would be at team meetings and such. It is effective because it makes the ones not going hard feel guilty and go harder because they know the coach is talking about them and makes the ones that are going hard go even harder because they are afraid that the coach is talking about them.

Yogi did a pretty good job on the guy who was larger than him, that was the leading scorer in the B1G last year, and got drafted in the lottery!
