Fundamentals in general are lacking in today's game. I blame a lot of things: AAU coaching and culture, the lure of the NBA ( gotta get those highlights on SportsCenter and move on to the pro$! ), and the lack of patience we as a society seem to have these days. Fundamentals take time to learn. They take practice. Hard to do when you're checking or posting on your latest high-tech gadget very minute.   I miss the sky hook, too. A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

I think Sean is a great recruiter but Archie is the better coach.

Of course you are correct, colonel06. RMK was no cover of GQ.   I think some of us ( me included)  are just having a little fun to lessen the stress of waiting for an announcement of some kind.

Archie was a PG at NC State. Before becoming head coach at Dayton, he was an assistant coach at Western KY, NC State, Arizona St., Ohio St., and Arizona ( under brother Sean ).   He would have recruiting connections in the South and the West, as well as the Midwest.

Marshall would be an upgrade over Crean. At least his teams play defense. But I would be lying if I said that hire would excite me. Like jumping up and down screaming "We're gonna win another banner" excited.

Dayton has taken the lead 32-29 on a 15-0 run.   It's pretty amazing what Archie has done with 6 scholarship players. I think the tallest is 6'8" ( correct me if I'm wrong ).   Edit: JS posted below that Dayton's tallest player is 6'6".

I think I recall a picture of McClain in Vegas with Zimmerman. So there's that.

My wife doesn't like Marshall's hair. Says it's worse than Crean's so he's officially off IU's list of potential hires.

The longer this goes on without an announcement, the more likely it is that I go insane.

Watching Alford's UCLA team advance in the tourney has been fun for an old-timer like me. Bryce isn't the same player Steve was but he has the same toughness and a pretty shot when he gets it going.

Since Knight was fired, I have heard many times from people I trust that the IU administration does not want another coach who is "bigger than the university". I think that mindset has definitely hurt the basketball program.

Donovan to the NBA wouldn't surprise me. Not much to challenge him anymore at his football school. If IU wants him, the administration should move quickly before he gets away.

Maybe Crean is recruiting for a new job at DePaul. They have a 2015 class consisting of 4 forwards. No guards.   Edit: I meant the incoming Class of 2015 recruits at DePaul consists of 4 forwards.

I like clean design, ease of use, and good content. Don't really care about all the other stuff.

I told SSQ that a sense of humor is an endearing quality. Then SSQ told me he/she was tired of my B.S.   Ah, well.

Yes, Crean is Catholic. So are the Harbaughs.

I never felt Alabama was a good fit for Crean. My feeling is he's headed for DePaul or Seton Hall. They are Catholic universities that are similar to Marquette.

If Marshall has a prickly personality, I'm concerned about his ability to recruit at IU. He's not going to be able to blow the socks off recruits with just his name and record of past success. I doubt most HS players, especially in-state players, follow Wichita State games.   Like I've said before, IU can do better.
