I earlier wrote on the Thon thread that his highlight video made him look like a man among boys. Appears that may literally be the case. Really wish we could avoid getting heavily involved with recruits who have "handler situations". They never seem to turn out well.

CampCrean, I can't tell if you are being sarcastic about sources telling you Alford is close to being IU's next coach if Crean is fired. Have you really heard that? If so, I am surprised.

Crean doing what Howland did at UCLA in his final season in Westwood may not be the best plan going forward. Last time I checked, Howland was unemployed.

Good point, Hova, about playing "with a chip on their shoulder". I'd like to see this year's team show that kind of attitude. Preseason rankings are steaming cow pies but let them give the team an extra incentive to prove their critics wrong.

I certainly don't want to see Crean fail. I want him to get us back on top, competing every year for a chance to win the championship. Some people think that getting a new coach will quickly solve IU's problems but unless we get a really "big name", that's not going to happen. Hiring a new coach is always a risky business.   Back to topic: I think Shake will be our next commit.

I agree there is little value in preseason rankings.   For example: I wonder where Dayton was ranked nationally in last year's preseason? They had a pretty good run, didn't they?

I think Crean is respected among his peers as a person, a recruiter, and a coach who runs an ethical program. But I also think they see the same in-game coaching problems that many of us fans do.

Nice that our former players who are now in the pros continue to come back to Btown and work out with our current guys. Says good things about them as people and about our program.   GO HOOSIERS!!!
