I admit to tearing up a little over AJ's letter. I was around for the entire Knight era at IU. The man had some major flaws, no doubt, but he was the greatest college BB coach I have ever seen. Too bad younger IU fans didn't get to experience the thrill of watching those Knight teams. They were amazing. It would mean a lot to this old fan for Coach to come back to IU just once more. I hope it happens in my lifetime.

Congratulations to AJ on a much-deserved honor.   His open letter to Coach Knight is extremely moving and heartfelt. It just might work. Knight is known for his loyalty to former players.

I was at work when I heard the news. It seemed like, all of a sudden, the world was no longer a safe place to be. I went home around lunchtime to see my wife. I needed to be with her. It was a time when we all felt great sadness for the dead and their loved ones. But it was also a time when people pulled together. Family, friends and the welfare of our fellow Americans truly mattered.

I'm "experienced" enough to remember that IU fans made endless jokes about Bobby Knight during his time in Bloomington. The jokes were wide-ranging, They were about everything from his tacky trademark jackets ( which were rarely cleaned ) to his "anger management" problems. I doubt there was anything about Knight that wasn't made into a joke at some point. Knight was quick to make fun of himself as well. I don't understand the hyper-sensitivity about poking fun at Crean that some fans have.
