IF we’re able to retain both Rosemond and Hunter, I’m open to Wittman. I’d prefer Smart but Wittman is interesting. 1. He has Woodson’s ear. 2. He played in the NBA for 9 years and coached for 24…… Guys don’t hang around the NBA that long if they aren’t good/great coaches. It’s not like Dane Fife was raking in the recruits. We need Rosemond, Hunter, and Walsh (I think that’s his name) to handle the bulk of the recruiting duties, while at the same time needing a capable in game strategist alongside Woody. If we lose Fife and add Wittman, then our bench got better. Losing Rosemond would change my mind.

Someone mentioned Keith Smart earlier and I’d love that. Dude can coach.

IUBB Players in the Portal/Draft Exploratory Status

3-5 is critical. -
He's toxic and frankly not good enough to get us over the hump, IMO. Everything Ive heard or read about him screams "mini Dan Dakich." IU needs to separate itself from those types. Everyone has worked with someone like Fife. The misery loves company type. Glad Woodson shitcanned him.

I think he meant that Archie was, at one point, considered the hottest thing in college basketball….. which he was.

Dolson is showing Thad how not to run an athletic Dept.

This logic checks out. Thank you. Dane dude as HC has given me nightmares.

The head coach has to be the one who sets the standard operating procedures. John Beilein had similar standards. Worked out ok for him. You should be more concerned about insubordination from staff. Says more about Fife’s character by breaking the rule than it does Woody making the rule.

I’ve heard he’s looking for a head gig. He’s ready for one too. If we are looking for any past players to take over the program, Michael Lewis should be the first place we look.

Our best assistant coach is Kenya Hunter.

Right on cue.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

I will make a lot of people upset with this one but if we lose one, I’d rather lose Fife. I value recruiters over assistant coaches who can’t gain the head coaches ear. I’ve never been sold on Fife’s coaching ability and am terrified at the thought of him becoming the head coach at IU. In my mind, if he were capable, he would have been able to win the summit athletic conference at least once. -

He should do his best to bring Wittman in officially, then. If you don’t trust in your staff to make the right decisions, you are causing organizational dysfunction by operating this way. This behavior cripples and bankrupts a lot of companies. Indiana Basketball is a business. -

2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

Would hate to lose X. Think he can play alongside JHS. JHS is used to sharing the PG responsibilities at Montverde. -

I agree. I am expecting some surprises with guys currently on the roster. Dont agree with those saying Sparks needs to be able to shoot the 3. We need rim protection & defensive rebounding. Would be ideal for our 5 man to be able to hit a mid range jumper at a decent clip too. We need an upgrade at the 4 position too. I love Race but I think Woody's system would benefit with a better perimeter shooter. I don't think IU has the luxury to wait for the 2nd wave of transfers. We aren't that type of program. IMHO, if we have the opportunity to upgrade the roster/each position, we need to act immediately. Of course we need to see where the current players end up but I'm not sure waiting would be in their best interests. -
I would imagine Trey Galloway would be one of those guys, as it would likely make him an elite player. But I don’t know the kid, so who knows.

Lonzo fixed his jumper. Shooting much better percentages from 3. It can be done. No different that fixing a golf swing. Need a good coach and commitment to getting a ton of reps in.

(2023) - PG Gabe Cupps to INDIANA
HoosierTrav replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I wasn’t comparing their games as much as I was comparing their impact on the team. Jordy was the glue. I see a similar role with Cupps. Also I did mention that his had higher upside. Relax. Everything will be ok Stu. -

I’m getting big time Jordan Hulls vibes from this kid. His upside is higher, I believe. -

Dude I bet you couldn’t handle a 5 hour flight and have juice to play a game, let alone the amount of games and travel this squad has had to deal with in a weeks time.. -

He’s gassed. Just look at the whole team when a shot goes up and how they are guarding. They’re out of gas. It’s obvious.
