I never thought we were getting Queen, honestly. I can say that I have more optimism now than I did a few weeks ago. My interpretation of Trilly’s article is that Queen and his camp are keeping things extremely close to the vest and he hasn’t heard anything to suggest a changing wind. I don’t allow myself to get all worked up over recruiting anymore. I KNEW we weren’t going to land (3) 5 star recruits bc we’ve never been the program to do such a thing. If we can get 1-2 every now and then and continue our portal success, I’m happy.

Dalton Knecht is an absolute animal. Would love to see a guy like that at IU at some point.

I love Cupps. Think he’s going to take longer to come along but the payoff will be huge. As far as Newton? I hate to say it, bc I was so excited about him. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t he originally require microfracture surgery? If so, I’m afraid his ceiling will have been drastically reduced. The knee seems to be problematic ever since his initial injury. I hope I’m wrong and really want the world for the young man. I just don’t think we can realistically expect him to breakout at this point.

I always wondered how a recruitment loss like this one would affect the staff. I’m sure they get deflated. Wonder how long it takes them to regroup.

Listen to his interviews. He wanted to play for Cal. He knew all of the recent guards that played for him and had success. Stinks bc winning these types of recruitments are how you build that type of resume with the future kids. Woodson has done an amazing job in the portal and in late recruitments, so I’m not going to be upset over it.

Agreed. Yea leaves were UK all along. I don’t buy for a minute that we were leading going onto this week.

He says he’s not a Kansas fan. I’ve never felt overly optimistic about this recruitment. Reading all the tea leaves, it seemed that Kentucky was his #1 choice but they had another kid higher up their board. Now that their top choice is no longer an option to reclass, the door was wide open. My gut says he’s off to Lexington.

My oldest son is a huge McDavid and Oilers fan. He’s only 8 but has been watching his YouTube vids since he was like 5 years old. Cool story: A business associate of mine from Edmonton, had a condo in the same building downtown as a few of Oilers players and ended up catching McDavid before headed to Fort Wayne. He got McDavid to sign a jersey and gave it to my boy last summer.

Sounds exactly like the type of player that helps propel a deep March run. March is about guard play!!

Have you heard anything re: Queen? I’m really curious to see if we can parlay him into the fold if we indeed land Liam and Boogie.

With the current trajectories of both programs, I’ll gladly beat UK’s @$$ in a much larger venue inside our state.
