I say we try to get Stevens another promotion. I’m a glutton for punishment. Why else would I keep coming back? -

Where I’m at. We have so many gaps to fill. This staff has missed on so many more targets than they’ve hit on. Could it happen? Sure. Is it likely? I don’t think so. What evidence do we have that Woody is being humbled? He just threw another one of his players under the bus in the presser today. My bet is that we’ll see pigs fly before we see Mike Woodson humbled enough to: 1. admit his way isn’t working, 2. take full responsibility, and 3. create immediately effective change. Woody needs a ton of high end talent to win. He’s not getting enough of that talent. Liam, as good as he is, is not going to be enough next year. I agree that we cant let him go this year. I’d argue that we handcuffed ourselves from ever truly being able to let him go. It’s why it was an absolute blunder of a hire. He will go on his terms. I’m more angry with Dolson and the good ol boys club than I am of CMW. The people running this program refuse to win. There really are no more reasonable excuses why we are approaching nearly 22 years since our last final 4 appearances. We’ve only made 11 ncaa tournaments in the last 22 years!!! That’s an indictment on those in charge of hiring. -
Agree. I and many others were very concerned this would happen when he was hired. Those responsible for the hire get to shoulder 100% of the blame. They knew the risk in hiring a former player. If they didn’t understand that, then they are a big reason why this program can’t get out of the stink they’re in. It was incredibly stupid and shortsighted. They’d have been better off hiring Alford. He at least had experience in the college game and had some success in both recruiting and on court results. Woodson was an experiment. Now it’s getting ugly. The fans keep getting made out to be monsters. Keep being told they’re not as smart as they think they are and that their eyes are deceiving them. It’s been nearly 40 freaking years. Feels like I’m watching groundhogs day. The program has been held hostage by a group of complete fools. Indiana University is not serious about winning. Period. If they were, they would have found a capable coach decades ago and stayed the hell out of his way. This program is a ******* shadow.

I’m not convinced Dusty May is a guy that can be any more than Tom Crean. Yes he has a final four run but that was really his only exceptional season he’s had. Interested to see how this year plays out.

I feel like I’m in my time machine and listening to a Tom Crean press conference. Remember him doing this a lot when his back was against the wall. -
Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe there was any interest on his part. A lot of Indiana driven noise but nothing of substance from the player or his camp. We couldn’t even get him on campus. Makes me laugh when IU fans pretend that we somehow lost him, when he was never remotely ours to begin with. edit: not saying you are one of those. Just speaking generally about what I’ve seen out there with IU fans and Knecht.

I appreciate the optimism. I don’t see a realistic way into the tournament outside of a miracle happening with this team. We have far too many limitations. I’ll give credit where it’s due and be the first to eat crow if I’m wrong. -
I don’t think so man. I did a good job of shutting it down during the final seasons with Archie. This team won’t make the tournament. Super depressing.

Appreciate the effort in the 2nd half. Make it respectable. -
The wheels are coming off the bus tonight. Either buckle up or tune out. I’m going to tune out. I don’t have the stomach to watch this program take its final death blow. I’ve been through each stage of emotions with IU but I’ve always had hope it could be turned around. I no longer have that. I cannot see a scenario in which this program ever gets back to an elite level. We are too far gone. From top to bottom. Dusty May isn’t going to come in here and save this program. The guys who possess the ability to come in and do it will NEVER get considered here. We’ll win a Rose Bowl before we make another final four. I’d bet my house on it.

Really hard time to be a Hoosier fan. Would be nice to see this become respectable. Just outclassed and it doesn’t help to have officiating so one sided. -

Is the baldy the same guy as the one from the Kansas game? If so, we’re in trouble. -

The officiating in college basketball is so bad. You could see Loyer setting up to flop for that call before Mbako received the ball. He settles himself and goes to post him up and the ref bought the flop. These guys are so bad. -
(2025) - PG Mikel Brown, Jr. to Louisville

Agree with you 100%… Davis may be #1 on my wish list. I watch him play and I KNOW he’s going to dominate at the college level. It’s fun getting NBA players but I’d love to build around guys like Davis, Mullins, Sisley, etc….. if we can do this while maintaining our pace of one or two 5 star players each season, then we are in business. It takes a tremendous amount of pressure off the coach and deepens the impact of the bigger gets (5 star guys). -
(2024) PF - Derik Queen to Maryland
HoosierTrav replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I really want Queen. This is not a knock against Ware but I think Queen is an upgrade. At least as far as impacting winning goes. His recruitment gives me the same vibes that Romeo’s did. Maryland is IU and IU is Vanderbilt. I think the pull to play with Liam is strong but the hometown (and Under Armour) pull is going to prevail here. Hope I’m wrong. I really would love to have an all Montverde frontcourt.
