1000% I couldn’t agree more with your take on this. It’s increasingly clear that there’s a disconnect between Coach Woodson’s public persona and the expectations we, as fans and followers of the program, have from someone in his position. It’s not just about the lack of basics in basketball execution or the off-court issues. It’s also about the commitment and seriousness we expect from a head coach. Seeing him more focused on leisure activities while the team struggles is disheartening and, frankly, a bit of a slap in the face. Last night’s press conference incident only adds fuel to this fire. His dismissive attitude towards valid questions from the press and fans isn’t just disappointing; it’s alarming imho. It shows a lack of accountability and transparency, which are crucial for any leader. When he said, “I’m not answering your question or the fans,” it felt like a clear indication that he’s not as invested as he should be. This isn’t the kind of leadership that inspires confidence or respect. Your point about other coaches like Dan Hurley, Painter, and Larranaga really drives home the contrast. These coaches seem to embody the grind and dedication we expect. They seem to understand that with such a high-profile and influential position comes a responsibility to be fully committed to the role, especially in challenging times. And let’s talk about the way Woodson often speaks in the third person and appears self-aggrandizing. This sort of behavior is off-putting. It’s a far cry from the humble, team-first attitude that most of us value in everyday people, let alone in those who are supposed to be leaders. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to support a figure who seems to exhibit such a lack of humility and self-awareness. I respect Woodson for his accomplishments and his love for Indiana Basketball. I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt but there comes a point where one has to call it as it is. And right now, it seems like the program is being run by someone more interested in enjoying retirement perks than in grinding it out for the sake of the team’s success. It’s a tough pill to swallow. I desperately hope Dolson and the people who financially impact our success, notice the same issues we do, and are willing to have some tough/direct conversations with Woodson. I just worry that CMW is too much of a narcissist to hear what anyone is saying. He doesn’t give anyone the impression that he’s willing to have his methods criticized in any way.

Can we go back in time and give Tim Crean our current NIL arrangement?

I don’t think we can fire Mike Woodson. Optics are very bad. Biggest factor why I was completely against the hire to begin with. Hiring a family member can often hinder the ability to make astute business decisions, which are critical for the survival and success of the business. I’ve made that mistake before. As soon as we hired him, I knew it would be impossible for us to fire him. Dolson will have to convince him to retire a little ahead of schedule. Timing is critical. We cannot allow him to stick around and get worse. We all know how publicly toxic this fanbase can be and frankly, it’s warranted imho. It’s been 22 years since a final four and nearly 40 for a championship. People who are tired of unruly fans need to sit and really think about those numbers. I will say that Dolson showed some serious executive chops in the Cignetti hire. He also made a very serious run at Brad Stevens and found the money to potentially make him a top 3 salaried coach. I fully believe he wants to win as badly as any of us. I have a gut feeling that he (and maybe others?) will convince Woody that he’s done his job here. He bridged the new with the old and made the Indiana brand more appealing to the most important demographic….talented basketball players. It’s time to let him walk off into the sunset and turn the program over to someone else to take it to new (or old?) heights. My biggest concern is that this drags out and we ruin any progress he’s made for us.

Has Mike Woodson ever won any championships while he was leading the team? Player or coach?

Missing the tournament this year. Completely unacceptable. Year 3. Trending down.. It’s Indiana….. Mike Woodson gets the most ridiculous amount of leash bc he was a player for IU 200 years ago. I’ve heard people complain about the fans….. the fans are only thing left of this program that is elite. We show up and fill that damn Hall every home game and will our shitty basketball teams to victories over teams we have no business beating. We show up and take over neutral site arenas. The list goes on. When we look at other aspects of our lives, be it brands we buy, places we eat, or even the companies we work for, our loyalty often hinges on the quality of experience or the mutual benefits we receive. Why then, when it comes to sports teams, do we not afford ourselves the same pragmatic approach? Indiana basketball is nearly dead to me. I spend to much time caring and I spend far too much money. Time for that to change I think. Being an IU basketball fan has been the worst ROI of any passion/effort in my entire life. It’s not close really. -

I was wrong about Kaleb Banks. He’s awful offensively. Love his hustle but he’s basically Jordan Geronimo with even less offensive output. -

These should be our standard uniforms. Such a subtle difference in letter embroidery size makes a huge impact. -
They are highly likely retargeting banner ads from Google.

I agree. Although I’m not sure anyone else has the option to be the President of the Boston Celtics. I think he would have taken the job had that offer not been on the table.

I remember how much I started to despise Tom Crean for throwing his players under the bus after tough losses…. I see a few parallels between Crean and Woody. -Both were allergic to accountability. Woody’s press conference tonight nearly makes me want to find a new team and coach to support. -Both had poorly constructed rosters well into their tenure -Both had absolutely mind boggling substitution patterns and were EXTREMELY stubborn to change. -Both played way too many players in the rotation. -Both had teams that struggled to guard the perimeter. I’ll scream it from the mountaintop now and until the end of time….. It doesn’t take winning coaches 3-4 years to compete for conference championships…. Let alone getting worse by year 3 and 4. Next year is shaping up to be worse. We’ve all seen this exact same scenario play out over and over and over again. It’s staring us right in the face….again. Woody is not going to win here. God love him but it’s not going to happen.

You’ve lost it. Lecturing me on decency? That’s rich coming from you. We clearly don’t see eye to eye. You attack me for considering all aspects of the situation, but frankly, your opinion of me means nothing. I’ve never respected you, even before tonight. You are attention seeking and many, including myself question your honesty, at times. You’ve misled people here for your own benefit, then play the victim when you’re called out. Not exactly traits of honor, are they? So, what’s next? You claim to have ‘insider information’ about the event that didn’t make it into the official records? ‘Trust me, bro’? I get it, some abuse victims retract statements and protect their abusers. But you’re just making assumptions about me and everyone else. I’m no attorney, but I’m pretty sure they could’ve charged him regardless of her later statements. The district attorney said, “After reviewing everything, including Ms. [Randi] Trew’s wishes, they can’t prove the felony beyond a reasonable doubt.” And “Travis County District Attorney José Garza said they take domestic abuse seriously but lacked sufficient evidence for a conviction.” And cut it out with your ‘I don’t want to be that poster’ act. You love being that poster, craving as much attention as you can get. I’m done engaging with you. Your presence has disgusted me from the start. I can’t have a rational discussion with you, considering you’ll use manipulative tactics such as projection and emotional shielding. You’ve on numerous occasions tried to invoke sympathy for yourself and tried to steer any healthy dialogue away from rational discourse and into emotional traps. Not going to work with me. merry Christmas you filthy animal. MODS: I won’t speak another word to this person and I’m sorry I let it come to this. I don’t usually have these types of heated discussions with people. If you collectively see to it that I need to be removed or suspended, then so be it. I’ll gracefully bow out.

His fiancé admitted that she initiated an argument, escalated the argument, then hit him and broke his glasses, and he acted out of self defense to restrain her. She also stated he didn’t choke her. IU supporters, in general, haven’t diminished their integrity, and claiming moral superiority is unwarranted. You’re not in a position to judge my integrity without truly knowing me. Despite any belief in your own superiority over others, it’s misguided. Remember the saying, ‘first remove the plank from your own eye, and then you’ll see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.’ Regardless of religious beliefs, this is a sound principle to live by, don’t you think? Bottom line is you’re accusing someone of being a woman beater, when in fact the woman he supposedly was “beating on” was actually beating on him and had his charges dropped with her own testimony. I care very much about my integrity. I do as much as I can to protect it at all times. I wouldn’t support a coach at Indiana University if they were a woman beater. I have a daughter and 3 boys. I also care deeply about facts and due process. Labels like “woman beater” carry significant stigma and can cause long-lasting damage to a person’s reputation, especially if the circumstances suggest a different narrative. If we seek only those without any imperfections in their history or someone saint-like, then, unfortunately, we’ll never encounter anyone who can uphold that standard.

2024 PG Daquan Davis to Florida State
HoosierTrav replied to Gnet550's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
For sure. Thats why I wanted to stress that I don’t know those details but I’m trying to piece it together based off of crumbs given to us. I hope we end up with him. He passes the eye test for me. Also, he’s played and had success in one of the more fertile (if not the most fertile) regions in the nation, in regard to basketball talent and competition. -
“No way on Beard”….. curious at to why? Bc he has us winning in year 1 or 2. He’s won EVERYWHERE he’s been and he didn’t need the fanbase to simp for him and “give him time to get things going.” Beard is elite and as much of a guarantee to win here as they come. More so than May imho.

Feels like Woody is being stubborn to the detriment of the teams long term success. Between what some close to the program have mentioned (sourced or rumors), what he’s said publicly about who we should be targeting, etc., it really seems like he has an unrealistic expectation of who we should be targeting. I love that he has IU “sitting at the table” with all these 5 star kids but we aren’t Kansas, Duke, and Kentucky. What about this kid says that he can’t be as good or better than X? We need guys like that in the program. Guys who can develop into dudes. This kid may be one already by the time he hits campus. I wonder if the rest of the staff gets ticked off with situations like this under Woody. I imagine they’ve scouted him and identified him as being worthy of a scholly, yet the ol man keeps vetoing it. not claiming to know… just trying to piece things together. There is also some real urgency to to fill the gaping holes at the G position, so obviously people like me are going to worry and be critical. Especially when players like Davis, who seems to be ready to commit, and the staff likes, but our head guy isn’t trusting the staffs scout. Frustrating bc he’s an immediate upgrade at the PG position to what we have now, we need some more depth at guard beyond him, and we banked a ******* scholly for no apparent reason this year when we have a huge need. Whatever. I own a construction business. What the hell would I know anyways. oh yeah…. Merry Christmas everyone! -
I’ve been down the rabbit hole of ai generative images. What do you think of these variations of IU jerseys? yes I know some of them are misspelled. The AI does this often, even when your prompts is spelled correctly.

He’s one of the guys that fits the description when I say “it doesn’t take years to win for the right guys.” Matt Painter is the exception. Bill Self was at ILL for 2 seasons and won 2 B1G championships. His roster nearly went undefeated the next season. By his 3rd year at Kansas, he won the Big 12. His roster and results were improving by year 3…. not getting worse. He won the Big 12 17 straight seasons after year 2. Sampson had us rolling in year 2. He would have won championships here. Instead he’s knocking on the door year in and year out at HOUSTON! His best 2 players are lost to the NBA… still ranked top 5 in the country. We are allergic to winning big and addicted to making excuses that other winning programs refuse to make for themselves. come at me bro(s). -

I fully believe that Woody can build his legacy (as the Indiana coach) by showcasing, the potential this program has. I’m not really a believer, anymore, in his ability to meet his own stated goals of winning B1G championships and eventually a natty. I don’t see it. He has too many critical flaws that will prevent him from doing that. The biggest of which is his stubbornness and ego, which borders on full blown narcissism. He really struggles to put well rounded rosters together. His in game X’s and O’s are as good as we’ve had since Sampson. His rotations are as awful as Tom Crean’s, most times. I know enough in my time as a fan not to dismiss when a coach shows his hand. It’s usually always the reason why they ultimately come up short at IU. I just hope that Dolson and those making decisions have a solid plan to maximize Woody’s efforts and parlay those efforts into a successor that can build off of Woody’s work and start to win quickly. It doesn't take long to win big. So many examples proving this. The transfer portal and NIL have further solidified this fact. -
IU is going to miss the tourney and Purdue is going to the Final Four this season. They may even win a natty. I can feel it in my bones. It’s hard being an Indiana fan.

Have you seen our NET (which the tourney committee uses primarily)? We are going to have precisely 0 non con wins of significance. The B1G is a 4-5 bid league this year. Not 7-8+… we need to either win the B1G tournament or finish in the top 2-3 in the B1G. Not a bad take a all. Just a realistic one that you don’t like. -
