IUBB vs Iowa - Tuesday, 01.30.24 @ 7:00 on BTN

    Such an awful possession.

Watching Houston makes me sick. We had our guy…. Hate that things went the way they did. Understand he was culpable. He would have built us into an absolute behemoth.

I’d love to actually hear past coaches jump on a podcast and tell all. I’m sure that’s not possible, as most places will likely have them under an NDA.

It was Jeff Meyers. And he was an asst in Beilein’s staff at Michigan.

Agree with most of this. Especially the very last question. I firmly believe no high profile, proven winning coach would want anything to do with this program. I’ve been delusional about that for awhile. Our only hope is that we can identify and hire a capable up and comer. Do I believe we have the people capable of that? NOT.A.CHANCE. I think we can put a fork in IU basketball for the foreseeable future. Prove me wrong IUBB!!!

    (2025)- Trent Sisley to INDIANA

I vividly remember IU fans dismissing anyone who suggested that Sean May would play elsewhere bc Davis wasn’t putting the effort into recruiting him. Not suggesting Sisley is as good as May but this recruitment has a similar feel.

Braylon Mullins (2025) SG - to UConn

Maybe this is enough to warrant a little more effort from our head guy?

First year guys. Would love to see one of these over a 3 year period.

(2025) - SF Joson Sanon to Arizona State

I’d have an easier time getting on board, with this philosophy, if the teams/coaches who regularly acquiesce to these player demands weren’t winning. It’s always the teams we are trying to get to their level that get most of these kids. Woody said he wanted a seat at the table. Well this is what’s on the menu with many of these players. Maybe we should be sitting at different tables? I’m having a hard time finding an issue with offering playing time and a “bag” to a player of Joson Sanon’s caliber, when we know what we have at his position currently. I feel like Woody’s position here can use a little more flexibility and situational discretion.

(2024) PF - Derik Queen to Maryland

We’ve got to be the national champions of this type of occurrence. Having a stud coach/player in the bag until it’s time to put pen to paper.

Thornton is an absolute killer. It. would. move… if we could get him.

I prefer the bigger and bolder letter font of the throwbacks Joson Sanon was wearing in his visit photos. Those are the best variation of our traditional look. The everyday uni’s look very cheap with the small letters. This of course is my opinion. I think we can make very small and tasteful changes that can keep both the old and the young happy.

    (2025)- Trent Sisley to INDIANA

He's going to be a really good college player imo. I think he’s better than his ranking. Hes the kind of player that will go to Purdue and kick our @$$, with burger boys on our roster.

Shertz is definitely the better offensive mind. May employs a more balanced approach. Shertz really stands out between the two of them. I’ve seen the argument that FAU is such a tough place to win and I appreciate that. But so was LMU in Div2. fun fact: Schertz had the highest overall winning percentage among all active NCAA head coaches at any level over a 10-year period. He won 9 regular season conference titles and 5 conf tourney titles. Coach of the year 7 times. There are great coaches that come out of division 2. One of the signs of how great they are is how quickly similar results follow at the next level. Shertz so far at ISU: year 1: 11-20 year 2: 23-13 year 3 (current): 16-3 Dude is a winner. He has a near .800 win percentage for HIS CAREER! I’d hire this guy yesterday.
  15. Xavier Johnson has been plenty mouthy. I personally love the kids/young men like that. Especially if they can back it up.

I know he’s not won much but I think he’s done a great job at Northwestern. Hasn’t he finished 2nd in the B1G before? I don’t think IU has had a single coach outside of Knight or Sampson that can do that. People underestimate just how hard it is to win at NW.

I don’t hate him. I just didnt think hiring him was the best IU could do after firing Archie. You are right though. If it had to be an IU guy, Alford was the only choice. He has been in college for decades. Never had consistent success but has won at numerous programs. At this point, I don’t think the IU job has any shine left to it with guys who can win to the level of our expectations. If we are hell bent on keeping it within the family, then hire Alford. Just make this Woodson experiment end.

There are markers believe it or not. Not just winning at the lower levels but dominance/excellence. Multiple conference titles, both regular season and tournament. Typically these guys tend to win right away or very shortly after transitioning to higher levels. Shertz is a guy to keep an eye on. He fits the bill. He was over .800 win percentage with multiple championships prior to ISU. His offenses are always at the top of the sport I terms of efficiency. Dude is a wizard on the offensive end. Thats translating to higher levels at ISU. They are top 25 in the nation, offensively, this season. bigger and bigger fan of Shertz with each passing day.

This is a fireable offense IMHO. If you aren’t up to the task to show up for one of the biggest responsibilities you have as a coach, then step aside. Not landing kids that want to come here (Sisley and Mullins) and potentially losing them to in league rivals is infuriating. Gotta say Chris…..really didn’t want to see that today. Lol.

    IUBB @ Wisconsin - Friday, 01.19.24 @ 8:30 ET on FS1

Personally, I think I need another few years off. Will be easier said than done. But for the last few years I’ve spent thousands and thousands of dollars on tickets, travel, and gear. I just can’t do it anymore. The product isn’t worth what I spend. I guess this is my way of protesting with my wallet. When IU blew up the program in 2008, I completely lost interest. Wasn’t until the Zeller recruitment started to heat up, that I started to think maybe we had turned the corner.

    *RANT HERE*

Explain how they were 10x worse. Don’t use a rumor that someone was selling “hard drugs” either bc that hasn’t been verified by a single reliable source. And marijuana doesn’t qualify as a “hard drug” btw.. I’ve heard that one before from a couple posters. That was the source of a good hard laugh. We’ve had players get arrested and suspended for numerous off court issues. Emmitt Holt consumed alcohol, got behind the wheel, and nearly killed Devin Davis. Genuinely interested in hearing how you’d calculate any of Sampsons players issues as 10x worse than that. Troy Williams used to smoke blunts in his dorm and other friends dorm rooms. And I’m pretty sure he and Stanford Robinson had been arrested before due to alcohol…. Hanner Perea regularly got behind the wheel after getting wasted. This was no secret to anyone. Including staff. I can go on. Many of Kelvin Samson’s former players give him credit for changing their lives for the better. For bringing them out of tough situations and putting them on paths to success. This is exactly what I mean. Folks in this fanbase have a moral superiority complex. We love to attack certain people’s characters. For the record, although I’m on the record as someone who thinks we should have retained Sampson, I’ve openly said that I thought he should have been reprimanded/suspended and forced to have more accountability for the off court behavior. Forcing him out and NUKING the entire program for years was on the admin. Not Sampson. They ruined the program then ran a complete smear campaign against him. Despicable people imo. Likened to career politicians.
