. It's hilarious that you're even speaking on what is and isn't reality. I said give me an example of ONE recruit who was affected negatively by IU fans. You couldn't provide me with ONE! Your absolute certainty that this is the reason IU's recruiting has slowed is laughable and just furthers everyone else's suspicions of your delusions. You'll do everything in your power to deny fact, if that fact gives your daddy a bad image. If you think Brad Stevens wouldn't be a MAJOR upgrade over Crean, then I'm not sure you have any credibility talking basketball. We can go on all night proving how Stevens is far more qualified for the Indiana job than Crean but you've made it clear that you do not care to be confronted with facts. Does it really surprise you that Indiana fans want what Stevens had at Butler? 2 former IU players have said the closest thing they'd seen to the culture of old IU was Brad Stevens program at Butler. Not my words. Not some other "Crean hater's." Those are the words of past players. Are you saying you prefer what we have now over the back to back runner up seasons? You prefer relying on having to have high level recruiting over having the peace of mind that your coach didn't have to win with have 2 high lotto picks and (4) 1000 point scorers (Stevens was in position to win 2 national titles with 0 all Americans)? It's been 3 years now since I've lost my confidence in Crean. I was once a staunch supporter. I've been begging him to make me eat crow but it just hasn't happened. I give him credit whenever it's due, as much as it pains me to do so. What I refuse to do, is give this guy credit for the positive and not hold him accountable when things go wrong.

Wow!!!!! Your guy is performing WELL below his pay grade on the recruiting trail as of late and it's our fault? You know what puts all speculation to rest? Winning! His history of mediocrity must be our fault too huh? I'd be interested in an example of how our reactions have affected any parents of recruits. My bet is you have zero to cite. None that will be based in fact anyways. If the reactions of a fanbase had any say in winning or losing recruits, then UK wouldn't have a single McD's AA on their roster. That fanbase is psychotic/bipolar. They wanted Calipari to leave for the NBA after the year they lost to Robert Morris in the NIT. That really hurt their recruiting huh? How about UNC fans? Already talking about removing Ol Roy. Killing their momentum, I know. Would you like to hear the difference between these cases and our own? Those coaches get real results! They've been to multiple final fours, national championships, and even won some. I'd love to believe that the easy fix for his recruiting struggles would be for us all to just blindly worship the guy, but I cant find any evidence that supports your claim to be true. And you are in the very small minority, assuming that we'll add our center in the spring. Tom Crean is not a top 10 coach. He does not deserve $3.5 million every year. Indiana fans are regarded as some of the most knowledgeable fans in the nation. We've witnessed great coaching firsthand at Indiana and we have arguably the best product to watch at the high school level. We aren't fools. We can spot a fraud when we see one. Most of us anyways....................What a desperate cop out. Calling the IU fans out for the failures of duty that he gets paid handsomely to not fu** up.

The oversigning is one of those things that make my blood boil. I know I know....."It always works itself out." And it has at this point. I just hate that it happens EVERY.SINGLE.SEASON. Its far too slippery.

I'm not sure what the hell happened, but to deny that recruiting has fallen off of a cliff IMMEDIATELY after sending 3 players to the lottery in consecutive seasons, is purely delusional. Nobody has any idea as to why. Kenny Johnson leaving is just as speculative as the speculation that its because of Crean himself. Crean was able to recruit at a high level before anyone knew Kenny Johnson's name. Crean recruited Cody Zeller and Yogi Ferrell to Indiana without KJ. To blame it on Kenny Johnson leaving is much too convenient for pro Crean people. Like I said, I don't claim to know what is going on but it's definitely something substantial. Do elite coaches miss out on recruits? No brainer! But how many elite coaches go from getting top 10 post guys to not even getting a top 100 post guy? I cant name one. Bill Self, Roy Williams, Coach K, Calipari, Boeheim, Pitino, etc. These guys miss on targets all the time but always get the next best thing. We went 100 to zero real quick. Adding either Thon Maker, Thomas Bryant, or both will change national perception but I'm not very confident that we'll get even one of these guys to commit. I think we are a solid 3rd in the Thon Maker sweepstakes. I also think the pressure to go to Syracuse from Bryant's mother is going to be too much to overcome when all is said and done. The fact that she is using Troy and Stan's mishaps against us and openly supporting the Cuse, says one thing for certain. She does NOT want her son to come to Indiana. To say my patience is wearing thin would suggest I have any patience left. I'm 28 years old and all I want is to experience some consistent winning at a high level. We are the laughing stock of the entire country. Not a single fanbase out there respects our program as an elite program. NONE. They all make fun of us for bragging about our rich tradition then celebrating sweet 16 appearances and cutting nets down after losses. Sad really. Whats my comeback? Uhhh Uhhh we were awesome before I was born... Beep boop Bop (Head explodes)

Prediction League Game 23 (Week 13) IU vs UW (02/03/15)
HoosierTrav replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We are at that stage of the season where Tom Crean coached teams actually digress. Predicting a blowout. Wisky - 81 IU - 62 -
The way I look at it is that Crean has to land a Bryant or Maker. Adding one of these guys to the team shines the spotlight on his coaching abilities and leaves little room for excuses (although many will find plenty of he fails). I'm all for that. Let's get one of these boys in here and see what Crean can do. We would have 4 high school All Americans and the excuses go bye bye.

. I don't know much about his attitude but I watched him in person, here in Fort Wayne, against Jabari Parker, Jahlil Okafor, Kendrick Nunn; he was playing with Trey Lyles, Trevon Bluiett. I know I'm missing names here. Anyways, he and Jabari Parker were the best players on the court and it wasn't even close. I'm not saying he put that together every night in high school, but he certainly has very very high upside. He couldn't be checked by anyone on the court. He was facilitating, rebounding, REALLY defending the wing, and he got to the cup at will. He got along just fine with those teammates, I'd personally assume that it had to do with the local kids he was playing with. Dude is a baller. Wish we had him honestly.

[quote name="HoosierAloha" post="130944" timestamp="1422589648"]Might be a little over emotional response. If you can't see what coach has done for the program go back and look. I know I know there are a hundred coaches in America that could do what coach Crean has done to rebuild IU because 'It's Indiana.'[/. I'm very impressed with the academic all star team he's rebuilt. As for basketball? I'm not sure he's done much to "rebuild" IU. From a performance standpoint, we aren't rebuilt. Far from it actually. Rebuilding Indiana would mean being the class of the B1G, birth right to the tournament, and final four appearances every 3-5 years. He's coached us from our lowest point to a point of stagnation and mediocrity. We had nowhere to go but up. I was thankful for him taking the job at the time and up until 2 seasons ago, I fully supported the guy. It's blatantly clear to anyone with our traditional expectations, that he's not THE guy. A man who cashes a $3.5 million dollar check every year and passes the buck of his deficiencies onto 18-22 yr old kids is a chump in my book. He's a megalomaniac. The way he talked to Fisch last night was gutless. Fisch has stood in front of bullets on his radio show for that clown. Fans who posed fair questions that needed to be addressed? Fisch stood up for him and deflected the heat. I hope he allows Crean to get blasted from here on out. CHUMP!!!

Prediction League Game 22 (Week 12) IU vs RU (01/31/15)

Am I the only one who has a TERRIBLE feeling about this one? Maybe it's just the lingering disappointment from last nights game. IU - 78 Rutgers - 77 Overtime -
. It speaks VOLUMES that the fans are more defensive over their play by play guy than their Head Coach. Fisch is the man. He's meant more to Indiana basketball than Tom Crean could ever dream of. If Fischer were to retire tomorrow I'd be overcome with sadness. If Crean resigned tomorrow, I'd go streaking around my cul de sac. Seriously. Try me Tom. I'm begging you.

Who this team is and where they're going
HoosierTrav replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not sure we have the chance to finish top 3 unless we right the ship immediately. I think the blueprint to beating us has been laid out. Thad Matta exposed us and Purdue played with the exact same principles O$U did. Matt Painter hit the nail on the head when he said our success is directly tied to the success of Troy Williams. Truer words havent been spoken this season. Sag off of Troy, hound JB and make him defend, let Yogi get off, pound the paint, get to the stripe, Attack our transition D, and whatever you do.... DONT PLAY ZONE. Follow this and you blow IU out of the building. We shot lights out against O$U and got blown out. We have to shoot over 50% from 3 to win any games. That's too much to ask these kids to do on a per game basis. We are getting UM, Wisky, Maryland, and Northwestern at very bad times. These teams are playing very well and some of the bottom feeders are long due. We are very susceptible to any and everyone in the B1G due to our ineptitude on defense.this is by far the worst sans NCAA sanctions IU defense I've ever seen. Yogi called us soft. I feel bad for him. He belongs to a winning program. He's this generations AJ Guyton. -
Landing Thon Maker is a long shot at this point but if we were to land him, it would make us a instant contender. Crean desperately needs momentum on the recruiting scene. His recruiting has hit a wall at the worst time.

. I'd bet the farm that Crean isn't here for another 5 years. I do on the other hand see him and Glass here for a maximum of 2-3 more seasons. If we somehow miss the tournament this year (I don't see that happening), then I think he's gone this offseason. If Glass won't get rid of him, then the pressure to remove both Crean and Glass will be likened to a tsunami wave against a wooden levy. It's sad Bc Glass has done so well for our athletic program outside of basketball (The ONLY sport that REALLY matters to us Hoosiers). Unfortunately the ridiculous contract he gave to Crean will stain his entire time in Bloomington. Sampson lied and cheated this program to a point where few coaches wanted the job (Calipari said he "would crawl from Memphis to Bloomington for the job" -Bob Kravitz..We wouldn't pay Pitino enough). How do we view the A.D. Who caused us to wallow in mediocrity and very likely cost us the ability to afford the home run hire that we SOOOOO desperately need. Let's not fool ourselves. There is a such thing as a home run hire for Indiana. Like WayneFleek said, Alabama was going through EXACTLY what we were going through until they sacked up and went after the "uncatchable fish". Kentucky even gets credit for the risk they took going after Calipari. I know that's taboo to say here, but it's true. It's sad that IU fans have been reduced to thinking this is the best we can do (not throwing this accusation at you in particular). The ceiling for IU basketball is UK, Duke, Kansas, Not perpetual mediocrity mixed with the occasional season where our fanbase gets overjoyed by midseason braketology that has us as a 7 seed in the tourney.

Prediction League Game 21 (Week 12) IU vs PU (01/28/15)

IU has to score 70+ points to win this one. I envision this one being like the game at Illinois. Indiana - 78 Purdue - 72 -

He shoots the 3 very well. I'm not sure I've seen any 2 guard as good as EG out of high school. This kid does everything and he does it against a really tough schedule. He dominates every single match up against kids ranked above him. He's going to blow up this summer, I'm afraid. -

A coworker of mine made the comment that he was baffled how we stomped Maryland and they beat the brakes off of MSU twice. I told him (and I truly feel this way) that we never get to the point we are right now if it weren't for the beat down in East Lansing. That may have been the best thing to happen to us. We have been stellar ever since. I think that was the point where the mental approach was changed. No? -

Big Ten Record Prediction
HoosierTrav replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I said before the Illinois game that the next 4 game stretch was the most crucial stretch of the B1G season. I thought if we could split the 4 games, we would be in great shape to finish in the top half of the B1G. Now that we've won the first two of that stretch, I can go into watching the next two road games without as much nerves. I expect O$U to beat us Sunday but if we miraculously win or take 3/4 ou tof this stretch, we have a legitimate shot at winning the B1G!!! Who in the world would have predicted that we would even dare say this at any point?!?!?1 -

Or the chicken wing by Dez Wells and the shoving the defender out of bounds on back to back offensive possesions? Or the phantom and one call on hartman when the replay showed literally no physical contact whatsoever? Crean wasn't the only one complaining. Man, I hope we crush those pussies in W. Laf. -

Really proud of this team. They played lights out and overcame some of the worst officiating I've EVER seen. It's games like last night that reinforce my suspicion that refs are as crooked as a politician. -
