Southern Indiana Is Bearable Again
HoosierTrav replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
. As do I. I would say Fort Wayne is a healthy split between Indiana & Purdue. There's also a decent UM contingent here as well. -
2015 Transfers and Early Entries
HoosierTrav replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
. These two have sort of put the whole "Calipari develops pros" fallacy to rest. The entered their frosh years at UK as projected high lotto picks the following year. I hope every recruit in the nation can now smell the stink coming from Cal's mouth. -

Troy Williams returning to IU!!!!!!

I'm a big believer that giving more than 8 players significant minutes hurts continuity. How many times have we watched our 5 on the court finally find a rhythm and get swapped for another 4-5 players who struggle to find that rhythm? In the meantime, our opponents play 7-8 players all game long against our fresh legs and have little issues. I'm not gonna lie. I absolutely hate his brand of basketball. It's hard for me to watch at times. The 2012-2013 team was in and lost way too many games due to this IMO. This upcoming season will be a total failure trying to please everyone by giving evenly distributed minutes. If I were coach, I would redshirt Morgan and OG and make Hanner, Devin, and Emmitt battle it out for minutes at the 4. If Thon comes, it gets much worse. I feel bad for our forwards we have now. These kids could be getting meaningful/plentiful minutes elsewhere.

. Honestly, Jerry Meyer is the ONLY person that I've seen say that. Plenty of other noteworthy scouts completely disagree. Meyer watched him in Laporte against LaLumiere. Could have had a terrible day. Does he need work? Absolutely! Is he still a game changer for IU? Absolutely!

The law of attraction... I like it.

He will be a high pick bc he backed up his high school hype with a tremendous showing in a tough pro league. He made a $1.2 Million for the 1 season in China and signed a multi million dollar deal with under armour a year before he would have been able to had he went to college. I'm not trying to start an argument, but the statement that these players would earn more by going to college for a year is flat out incorrect. Mudiay could have torn his ACL this season at SMU and not made a penny. Sure he could have purchased an insurance policy, but it was pretty clear his family was flat broke and wouldn't be able to afford the outrageous down payment for this type of policy. I'd love to see Thon come to IU next season but if the opportunity presented itself to become a multi millionaire a year earlier, I would jump on that deal without a sceond guess.

. Very true. This is a great point. He doesn't see himself as a true post player.

. This is exactly how I view this entire situation. Let's call a spade a spade. This is big business. Crean is managing a Fortune 500 company when he's actually only capable/qualified to run a mom and pop shop.

. Barnes made the NCAA tournament 16 times in 17 seasons. Not nearly the toss up that some believe it is. He has recruited the star power as well.

Standards to be Hired as Head Coach at Indiana
HoosierTrav replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
1. Be Awesome 2. Be Brad Stevens -
. I mostly agree with all of this except that I'd have Marshall last on this list. I think Archie's age and upside puts him ahead. Both coach defense and overachieve. The difference is that I cannot see young Indiana kids wanting to come play for Marshall when I think they'd be lining up to play for Archie.

Tom Crean to Alabama Rumor Thread
HoosierTrav replied to birdy_19's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
. A Brief Summary: *Guy that claims to have a reliable source makes claims that 1.) Archie Miller has reached out and said that if there is a vacancy, he would like to have consideration. 2.) See #1 and replace Miller with Marshall 3.) Brad Stevens has spoken with IU and has interest in the position but was weary about breaking his current contract. 4.) If Crean is going to go, it will have to happen on his own accord. Glass is not moving unless Crean does. This pretty much sums it up. The guy did say that this could all be Bologna but that the source was someone he trusted and has always been spot on in other rumor mill predictions. One thing is for certain... Quite a few people are going to forever earn or lose credibility with me and many other Hoosier fans. I'm speaking of the ones who confidently claim to know what's happening. We shall find out who really is in the know. -

Archie Miller is the next great thing. Better than Hoiberg, Marshall, and any other up and comer. Id be very excited if we were to hire him.

Potential fallout from coaching change
HoosierTrav replied to HoosiersLoveBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
. Doesn't make as much sense to me. We'd have to lure him away from UF. He's currently making roughly $5 million per. We may be able to match that, but we aren't surpassing that by much if any. Stevens on the other hand would be getting a $1.5 million annual raise if we were to offer him $5 mil per. Not to mention all of the other things that would factor into making Stevens to IU a no brainer with that kind of money on the table. Billy D would kill at IU but this would be a total shock to me if it happened. I cant twist this any way to make it make sense. -
Potential fallout from coaching change
HoosierTrav replied to HoosiersLoveBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
. I realize that. I just think the claims are complete nonsense. Anyone who actually believes that isn't thinking straight. It's most likely a contingency that really wants Crean to stay put. Those claims you listed were extreme reaches to discredit Stevens work at Butler and in Boston (he's killing it right now with a bad NBA roster). It amazes me that some can come to those conclusions. -
#IHSAA Boys/Girls State Tournament

. I played for Elmhurst in 2004 when Belmont beat us by 1 point in overtime at the Northwood Regional title game. Great game. You guys stopped us from going to back to back state championships. Kudos. Great teams, great game. -
. They are the first "power" conference team since IU I believe. The SEC is just a large mid major.
