IU vs Austin Peay Post Game Thread
HoosierTrav replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
With the way ranked teams are losing to these mid majors, I'll take double digit W's any day. Defense and turnovers are concerning but it's what you get when you constantly change your lineup and try to play 10 deep. Can establish continuity. Players are perpetually trying to get back into rhythm. I'll be very interested to watch us play a team that controls the pace really well. Can we play in the half court? Can we get stops when we have to? -
There's a reason Duke Blue Planet hired him. I wasn't always impressed with the verbiage but it always seemed to be a hit with recruits and the visual effects were second to none.

(2016) SG Bruce Brown to Miami
HoosierTrav replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I can't say it enough. Bruce Brown is truly a spectacular defender. He's an absolute game changer on that end. He's no slouch offensively either. It's just not many talk about his offensive game due to the fact that his defensive ability is the most glaring. He's 5 star on that end IMO. -

If we do indeed land BB, I will be extremely pleased. Add one of Thon/Rawle, and I'm seriously geeked for the next season. This would be the perfect counter punch to the initial punch by the MSU Spartans. We only have to deal with Miles Bridges for a season and I like our roster when you consider who we likely return. -
I think it will be much easier to play with a 3 guard lineup due to having a frontcourt of DD and TB. They will shore up the paint and rebound very well.

Signed, sealed, and stuck in the fax queue?

Rawle really can play both the SG and SF positions. He is relentless defensively and has an NBA ready body that can match up with College 3's. He'd easily fit in that position. Just remember though: this is the reasoning some are using as to why he may decide against going to UK. Personally, I don't think a 3 guard set is going to keep him from attending any school. I believe he will make his choice based on fit and where he can have the biggest impact. He's actually mentioned that he doesn't care about how well schools have played in the past (tradition), Bc he knows he will win wherever he goes. That screams SJU to me, but I think this bodes well for IU also. He would make us a legitimate title contender. Winning a title at Indiana would hold so much weight in terms of his "legend." Believe it or not, hanging a 6th banner weighs so much more than a 9th at UK. Especially considering how hungry/desperate this fan base/state is currently paired with all that we've been through the last 20 years. He could never play another basketball game again in their entire lives, and still be treated like gods well into their old age. Dan Dakich has a pretty good life, and his legend was built on playing well in a single big game that eventually led to a title.

Repeat after me: "There is no such thing as scholarships not being available for desirable recruits." Learn it. Live it. Love it. But most importantly, get used to it. It's the equivalent to living in a Holiday Inn Express. -

IU vs. Michigan Post-Game Thread

These losses would be much easier to swallow if the same results didn't happen after playing Rutgers -
Holy wow! You were right. I was wrong.

Both guards are faster than Jordan Hulls and Verdell Jones, so it can still work.

Where did you find these sir?

Love it! I see Adidas is keeping up with their promises so far. I like it. Keeping up with the Joneses.
-
I dont think their coach will allow them to see this as a gimme game. I think they are the other way around. Much better than the roster suggests. They have 2 losses (should have been only 1) and both came against elite teams. Sudfeld has to have a career day to keep us in this one imho. Michigan is better than their record suggests, as well.

I used to like football much more than I do now. I like it less and less every year. A lot of that has to do with how much of a joke the NFL corporate office has made the game into. It's my "get me by until basketball season starts" entertainment, usually, although the Cubs did a fine job of keeping me distracted. Finally! To each their own though.

If we're talking about the drinking luge, then yes! It's luge season.

Step aside footy footballers...... God's sport has commenced.

Why not land all three of these bad boys?

[quote name="hoosierpap" post="207611" timestamp="1447381263"]Today IU received their 3rd commitment for the class of 2016 in De'ron Davis. Also on board, Grant Gelon and Curtis Jones. Leaving Yogi F. Max B. Nick Z. Troy W. OPEN___ 5 spots (6 if JBJ goes) 2-3 openings... Current Targets: SG Rawle Alkins- Alkins, in my estimation is the cream of the crop and 3rd best prospect left uncommitted in the entire class. UK and NC State look to be the stiffest competition. I don't really know what the NC State buzz is about other than he recently relocated to North Carolina but I wouldn't expect location to really be a factor in this. Rawle has played HS in Florida, New York, and now North Carolina. One thing to watch with UK is who else they sign. UK got a commit from De'Aaron Fox today, who is friends with Malik Monk and could persuade him to join him. That would seemingly eliminate UK from Rawle's list. Monk is the top SG in the class. With Rawle waiting until spring, I'd expect the staff to keep up the heat, but no doubt they'll need a few dominoes to fall their way for Rawle to end up in Bloomington. PF Thon Maker- Maker seems to be fading. Sure, IU offered his younger brother which seems to have played a role but one thing IU doesn't have that ASU and ND have is a history with Ed Smith, Maker's guardian. Ed Smith seems to be in control in this one, but Maker is definitely a good kid by all accounts. SG Bruce Brown- Brown is one of the best defenders in the class and would bring a real level of toughness to the class. Personally, I believe IU is in the lead. His decision to wait until spring may not be a finalized thing, but it does seem he is leaning that way. Xavier, Umass and Miami are in this one. I guess Purdue is a long shot but Brown wouldn't make travel plans and eventually ended up rescheduling to this week after Painter went out to see him. Haven't heard if that's happening. Some talk Mom wants him away from some people in the Boston area. His teammate Tyrique Jones is committed to Xavier and will sign this/next week. I'd love to know more about this one, but things are pretty tight lipped. Eron Gordon- Everyone knows this story, but seems like IU is keeping in touch. If you see IU really turn up the heat and show up at Cathedral this fall/winter I'd say that's a bad sign on Bruce Brown. I think IU gets one or the other, at this point. Alpha Diallo- Really seems to be an upcoming prospect. De'ron Davis' AAU teammate for the Colorado Hawks but plays out eat for Brewster Academy. I imagine DD's commitment helped some but there is some buzz he'll be committing to VCU this week so watch out for that. Outside of that, you're looking at IU targeting some new faces...which is to be expected. The Davis commitment really was huge, not just from a ROI standpoint, but because it eases the pressure of finding that quality big man. I see IU now in a position to absolutely swing for the fences in Alkins and Maker, steadily recruit Brown/Gordon, identify new targets for '16 and work the hell out of '17. Today was a big day for IU, what do you guys think?[/quote Huge day. You're absolutely right about being able to swing for the fences. Frontcourt is secured. Time to get an impact wing and shooting guard.

Yeah. I didn't believe all of of this at first but the ease in which he got Huell to come visit, is throwing up a major red flag with me.

Sure. Anything is possible. But would you bet money on it happening?
