Indiana vs. Wake Forest Game Thread

Yikes! We look terrible. -
No doubt. St. Johns is the worst team I've watched this entire season so far. They are atrocious across the board.
-
And SJU looks like absolute dog s**t.

I said the same thing about Maryland this weekend. The hype received in the preseason versus how good they are compared to the field feels a lot like the 2012-2013 Indiana Hoosiers

If I had to pick one player that I think TB reminds me of, I would say he's is Anderson Varajeo -
Indiana vs. Maryland Post-Game Thread

Looked like I missed a good one. Had to convert the lawnmower into the snow thrower. Good win. One more and we are bowling. -
Indiana has changed their uniforms throughout their history. Not sure why people keep saying we are fooling with tradition. The only way we could do that is if we changed the colors or added names to the back.
-
They have the greatest cbb coach of all time on their sidelines. They'll be just fine mid-late season. I personally think Thornton needs to start and Plumlee needs to come off the bench. Play smaller and you'll thrive.

I agree 100%. Kentucky is getting far too much love for beating Duke bc Duke is overrated this season. I understand why though. they have K and a great class. They get the benefit of the doubt in most all cases.
-
Just to be clear: I'm not saying we cant beat these teams. I just think they pose matchup issues. Maryland: Their Guards match up with us very well. I think they are a better defensive unit. They have a 5* Center (I think TB is better) but I really like Carter over Max B. Layman and Troy are washes. If we had Devin Davis, Hanner Perea and Holt, we'd be nearly identical teams. Purdue: They are much more dangerous than Vandy IMO. I went back and watched their entire game last night (Vandy) and although they are big, they aren't nearly as elite up front as Purdue. Purdue can really defend the rim AND stretch you out to the perimeter with Swanigan. Purdue's wings can shoot and their guard play is under rated. Cline can really really shoot it. Kentucky: I think they have the best backcourt in CBB. They are us on steroids. Ullis is actually quick enough to stay in front of Yogi. We have no one that can guard Murray. Skal and TB would be a great head to head but UK's frontcourt is deep and could get TB into foul trouble. I too would love to play them.....IF they indeed played at our pace. No one in the nation better at the game we play. This is where I'm at with this. I'll also say that if we get through Wake and Vandy, we win Maui. I dont think Kansas can run with us or defend us. They struggle to score as well. Seldon is a beast but JB would just have to force him to shoot jumpers. There isn't a guard on Kansas' roster that Yogi Ferrell wouldn't eat alive. I read somewhere that he absolutely dominated head to head against Frank Mason and Monte Morris at Adidas Nations, this past summer. Yogi, Troy, and TB were on the same team and handily beat the squad with Mason, Morris, Wiltjer, and Seldon... Let that sink in. We are underrated by a big margin IMO. There are not 13 teams in America better than us. Hell, while I'm at it....... I ALSO think we beat Duke at Cameron. I'm not sold on the Dukies at all. They have a lot of young talent but they arent even close to being capable of doing what last seasons team did (Sorry BlueDevil.) Our biggest obstacle to overcome there will be Cameron itself. We haven't played in an environment like that on the road. Yogi has, when he was a frosh against MSU in E. Lansing, but this is new to all of our young men. Duke's team is vastly overrated IMO. We have better guards, we have a better big man, and I'll take a 3 year veteran Troy Williams against a frosh string bean Ingram any day of the week (Ingram's upside is ridiculous though.) Amile Jefferson is the only guy that worries me.

If people can sneak into the super bowl with ease, then you can surely be resourceful enough to get into that High School Gym. I believe in you.

I agree. BUT the 2011-2012 team absolutely peaked at the right time. Just ran into a buzz saw in Kentucky, yet still had a chance to win that game, if it wasn't for the INSANE disparity in FT attempts between the two teams..... we make that ending much closer to a similar ending than the ending of the one in Bloomington That one still irks me. Us and UK were playing at a level beyond any other team in the nation at the time. We met in the Sweet 16. Bummer.
-
Depending on who we play, and how we play, we could have a legitimate shot at being a top 5-10 team at weeks end. Parity this year is greater than in many years past that I can remember. We've already seen 4-5 top 10 teams lose early. I have taken a lot of heat early on for thinking this team was a top 5 team but I stand by it. If Thomas Bryant stays out of foul trouble and defends, I dont see many matchups that I like over us. Kentucky, Maryland, and Purdue. That's it. Maybe Gonzaga.
-
Thomas Bryant was the MVP. Yogi Ferrell gives us so much consitency that he is our MIP imo.
-
Due to the level of immaturity on my part, I request you edit your post to read "Vic's defense", rather than "Vic's D." I had my Butthead laugh going on each time I read it.

I'm buying as well. Not only is Yogi a SR now, but our backcourt is bigger, deeper, more athletic, and shoots the 3 ball as well or better collectively. Both teams possessed a good big man but Thomas Bryant has more of a fire in his belly, which both I put Zeller as = to Bryant.... Passing ability (=) Offensive polish around the rim (+ Zeller) Running the floor (=) Defending the rim (+ Bryant) Defending the perimeter (+Zeller) Pick and Roll (+ Bryant) *Slight edge to Bryant due to the fact that Zeller refused to shoot from the perimeter and constantly telegraphed drives to the basket that ended in him shooting from his hip and getting blocked. Bryant will shoot and hit 3's. Outward Energy (++ Bryant) This was where Zeller fell far short. Often needed to demand the ball and hold his teammates responsible. Tucked his tail in situations where we needed our best player to lead vocally and emotionally. Before someone's feels get damaged: I'm not saying that he never had moments where he didnt respond. I'm saying there were plenty of moments where we needed to see fire out of him and we didn't. Impact Winning (=) Both came in and took the previous years roster and made it exponentially better. Both guys are tremendous guys/players and we are privileged that they decided to play their ball in Bloom.
